Peaceful and relaxing hotel

Posted Feb 1, 2016
Pros: Hotel staff were accomodating. It'S a very relaxing place.
Cons: AARP arranges travel through Expedia. When we arrived the first night we discovered that Expedia books the cheapest room, which faced the driveway.
Location: Town of Cambria is delightful for dining and shopping. Nearby is Hearst Castle. 8 miles up the road is a viewing area of elephant seals.
Ocean views, in-room fireplace, binoculars on the desk. A beautiful location with an appreciation of ocean views. Restaurant on site provided delicious food without having to leave the site.

Location is the only good thing

Posted Jan 18, 2016
Plumbing problems, water doesn't drain in tub or sink, thermostat didn't work, turned the heater off as soon as we checked in but heater never shut off all night long, had to sleep with windows open. No continental breakfast.

Good views of the ocean

Posted Jan 6, 2016
Pros: The views of the ocean
Cons: Redecoration or refurbishment
Location: Hearst Castle from old San Simeon and the colony of elephant seals just north on Highway 1. Not much to do in San Simeon itself.
This is a motel, not a hotel, in need of redecoration or refurbishment to give it a much needed facelift and to brighten up the rooms. Parking is free, ample and convenient and an acceptable restaurant is attached to the facility. Conveniently located between Highway 1 and the beach the best feature is the stunning view of the ocean from those rooms with a balcony or patio overlooking it.

They gave me a discount and the problems were icky but not awful so I can't really say it was all bad nut, I would recommend looking elsewhere for lodging. Restaurant is also to be skipped.

nice hotel by the beach

Posted Nov 18, 2015
Pros: Close to the beach and pretty newly updated
Cons: Just to have the ocean view on second floor would of made my stay great.
Location: Cambodia is near with plent of shops and restaurants. Plus you have the famous Hearst castle down the street
Well we spent the big bucks for a ocean front room close to the beach and ended up with a partial view only. We wanted second floor with balcony so we could leave the curtains open without having to worry about people walking buy looking in while laying or sleeping but ended up on the bottom floor
