We checked in late in the day. Bernice called me around 8 PM to let me know that she would leave at 10 PM and gave me instruction on how to get our keys if we arrived after she had already left. When we arrived, Bernice just got into her car. Even though her shift was over and she was already leaving, she got out of her car and helped us check in and made sure we were well situated before she left for the evening. Great customer service!! Thanks again!

The room was beautiful with a view of a peaceful natural setting. Open the window and hear the waves crashing on the beach. Walkable to one of the best coffee houses in Cambria. I recommend that if you have a chance, stay at this hotel.

Don't be fooled by the name. It's not a spa. They have a hot tub and steam room which they closed due to construction. Don't think you can book a massage! And it's not on Moonstone Beach. You have to walk on the trail to get to the beach. No view. Backs to a forest. Entire 2nd floor was under construction. Said they had 'grab n go' breakfast. It was all gone before 8:30am. Another guest said the construction workers had eaten all of it. Very disappointed. Hotels along the water were priced abt the same or even less. Lesson learned.

Thank you for your feedback. Our renovation is nearing its completion and will be done within a week. We apologize for teh inconvinence, but we strive to improve our offerings and we are proud to now offer new rooms. We have 2 spa technicians, they do book in advanced as we are one of the only spas in town. We are sorry that you were unable to enjoy those services.

The hotel is being renovated though the room we stayed in had already been updated and still felt lackluster, cold and dated. The bathroom door wouldn’t shut properly and the lighting throughout the room was dim. The acoustics in the hotel are poor, you can hear everything. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The hotel was amazing except for the fact that it was under construction. It wasn’t listed on Expedia nor was it listed on the hotels website. I was notified once I checked in that there was construction and it was a Friday. I figured no construction would be happening over the weekend, I didn’t hear very much of it on Saturday but Sunday morning at 9 AM,I was woken up to very loud, banging and drilling. I believe in the room below me when I mentioned it to the front desk at checkout, they said, were you told at check-in and I said yes and they said oh we’re so sorry that it was disruptive, but we are under construction.

This is an expensive hotel given other hotels in the area. Note that the hotel is on the corner of highway 1 and there is limited view from the windows. The room itself is nice for sure, but at the price point, the location should be better or the room views.

We loved our stay! When we booked we were not notified that there were renovations going on. It didn’t matter as we did not encounter any problems or noise. No ocean view but the rooms were larger than expected, bathrooms were very large.

El Colibri is just the right pick.

Beautiful hotel, beautiful area. Hotel was very clean and kept up. Our view was of nature and a trail to the beach, which was stunning. A little cute town walking distance from our hotel! Can’t wait to be back.

Room 110: The staff were good, however the hotel needs help. Our bathroom sink fell into the cabinet while we were washing our hands, water all over. The seal broke I guess. They attempted a fix. Then no hot water at all in the shower, but warm water in the sink. Very odd. Minor things; the USB by the bed did not work. There was no body wash in the dispenser. We won’t stay there again, which is too bad because I really has potential.

This was a good hotel, staff was amazing. Our only complaint was the beds, so uncomfortable. Mattresses were hard as a rock.

Good Enough
Upon arriving we were greeted by staff, who were all very polite. We were disappointed to see that the advertised “tap wall” consisted of one beer and one red and white wine. Not quite what we were expecting. None of the drinks ended up being very good. The hotel condition was more worn than I thought it would be, but the other amenities were as-advertised. Unfortunately, the room we were assigned had a view of the back parking lot dumpster and the gas station across the street, which was another bummer. I enjoyed the location and proximity to downtown Cambria and Moonstone Beach. Overall, our stay was mostly comfortable. I think we just prefer a hotel with more community amenities.

When you’re on the bottom floor near the reception you hear everything. The walls are thin. Also, they need new beds very uncomfortable.
