Not what I expected. Better hotels for less.

Posted Jul 25, 2016
Pros: Great location 1 block from the coast (not really a beach though) and 10 minutes from Hearst castle. Women working the breakfast area was very nice.
Cons: Need a computer for guest use with a printer to book tickets, etc. Room doors you don't have to slam to close. Better breakfast as advertised.
Location: Beaches close, San Simeon downtown area, Hearst Castle.
Morgan hotel is one of the more expensive in the area and looks great in pictures but I've stayed many places for much less that were far better. It is an hotel that seems like a converted house. The room keys are still really keys. The staff is ok; nothing special. It is quaint looking at first, but the rooms are not quiet. Can hear people in next room and the way the door locks work you have to slam the door to shut it so we kept hearing door slamming. Also could hear people walking on floor above. Room had a fireplace which was nice but no cooling and a wall heater that looked ancient. They also have no computer for customer use; even cheap hotels have this. Their wifi was so slow it was unusable. So we were not able to book tickets for Hearst Castle online. Their book in the room says hotel staff will assist booking tickets for local attractions due to no computer but when we asked we were told they don't do that. They suggested we go to the library to do this! Seriously? They also advertise full breakfast but it is only a continental breakfast and even saying that is giving them a lot of credit. Pastries didn't seem fresh and the hard-boiled eggs had a funny taste to them.

2.5 stars maybe but definitely not a 3.5 stars

Posted Jul 24, 2016
Pros: I give credits to the friendly, efficient, and polite staffs. They are nice and good at customer services.
Cons: There was no soap holder for the soap so the the soap was just skiing on the vanities counter top like a disc on a shuffleboard.
Location: Location is great. It's right off Highway 1 and 5 minutes walk to the water front. Many walkable restaurants nearby but foods were over priced.
I booked this hotel because it said it's a 3.5 star, but I think it needs major improvement to be qualified as a 3.5 star hotel. This is the only time I feel disappointed picking this hotel from Expedia ever since became a member almost a decade ago. The room is average but the most disappointing things are the towels. They looked dirty and old. The mattresses were indented deep in the middle. The worst of all is the cleanness of the bed sheet. On one sheet there was a gross yellowish plaque on it. It's too obvious that it should be discovered and removed before letting customer to sleep on it. However, the whole room smell like fabric softener which was quite stuffy for me. The ceiling and the floor were probably very thin cause I could hear loud footsteps from upstair the whole evening. My poor heart got a palpitation from the constant pounding footsteps because of that.

it is an ok hotel

everything is OK on average level, but there is no cell phone or very poor reception in and around the hotel, it will be a problem if someone want to reach you in emergency.

Nice and very clean hotel next to the beach

Posted Jul 18, 2016
Everything was new and clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful. I think the hotel is rated a little low, since we've in places with higher ratings that were not even clean. They have a nice indoor pool, i just wish they were open till 10 pm instead of 9.

Nice hotel

Posted Jul 17, 2016
This is a cute hotel, well maintained, comfortable beds, quiet. We got a good night of sleep. The indoor/outdoor pool is actually all outdoor. It is surrounded by 4 walls, but it is open air, so it is chilly when outside of the water. It also closes early (8 PM). Breakfast is okay, but it doesn't include any warm foods. There is hot water and a microwave.

Good location. Close to the sea and seal site.

Pros: Nice view and location.
Cons: Staff seem very occupied. Just nodded when I said thank you.
Location: Seal view.
No elevator. Had to drag a big suitcase to the 2nd floor.

Nothing like previous reviews

Posted Jul 8, 2016
Hotel in good location but room had not air conditioning, sheets had holes, towels were so worn that they looked dirty. When I complained to front desk they didn't even bother to offer us anything. Also, there's no elevator and it is hard to bring up luggage to second floor.

Very convenient ot Hearst castle

Pros: Room was spacious, clean.
Cons: Breakfast a little skimpy
Location: Hearst Castle within 2 miles
Probably the best of the alternatives close to Hearst Castle. Very quiet and spacious rooms.
