This hotel is quaint and quiet. Very clean, nice sized rooms. Comfy chairs move close to fireplace. TV was challenging to work, and most channels were unavailable. Short drive to moonstone beach. Partial ocean view is nice but not close to beach as we expected.

Thank you very much for taking the time to let us know what you think! We will check the channels on the TV and hopefully get that issue fixed. Although it was not the view you expected, we are glad you enjoyed your stay.

Hotel in need of serious updating

Posted Jan 4, 2018
One of only a few hotels on the beachside in San Simeon, this place is in need of serious updating. No A/C (ceiling and small box fan helped move air around the room), ancient metal wall heater, water damage on the bottom of bathroom door, oddly narrow bathroom vanity with mismatched faucet. The room furnishings are tired and uninviting. The overall vibe of the hotel was a bit weird-closed off, tight quarters. The check-in desk is an actual office desk. For the price hot items (eggs) could be added to expand small breakfast offerings. The property is named after architect Julia Morgan, who built Hearst Castle, but she’d likely not want to associate her name with this hotel.

Quiet stay near Hearst Castle

Posted Jan 3, 2018
Pros: Comfort of room.
Cons: Too bad the view of the ocean is obstructed. You need to walk a few blocks to see the beach.
Location: Mexican restaurant next door. 10 minute drive to Hearst Castle.
Stayed overnight as we came to visit Hearst Castle, which is about 10 minutes away. Nice comfortable rooms, spacious, king sized bed with small fireplace. Very quiet hotel. Breakfast included. No complaints.

The only plus for this hotel is that it is 10 min away from Hearst castle.

Disappointing

Posted Nov 28, 2017
Pros: It was very clean.
Cons: I said above/change the shower curtains or add the plastic one. I didn't know that there were cloth shower curtains that go on the inside. Confusing
Location: You need a brochure that shows all the top attractions near your hotel. I think you should hire me to upgrade your hotel. Your Welcome.
The hotel has nicer curtains and carpets than a motel 6.The hotel has nothing to do there that would make somebody want to pay __________ a night. I was offended that they put a tip jar for their continental breakfast. The pool had less than luke warm water and they should really invest in creating a cover for their semi-enclosed pool during the winter season. It is not a kid friendly hotel and they could easily make it so. They could make an area where the kids could watch tv and sit on bean bags and play games while leaving tables and chairs for parents to do ...whatever. There are two sections, one where you walk in and then another section where you go down a couple of steps that is only used for their continental breakfast. They should have coffee and tea always available, especially after you just arrive free of charge. They could make that area look really nice and inviting. Inside the room if they want to offer chips or something because there is nothing to eat in the lobby they should make that complimentary not charge 1.00 for Cheetos and 1.00 for water. You feel like you are at an expensive motel 6. You feel trapped inside your room. The hotel check in clerk should have some kind of map to point to because it is set up in a strange way building, parking lot, restaurant, and then building again. Clerk said the building is next to the restaurant so we kept walking all around the parking lot towards the back moving two cars trying to park close to unpack cars.

Morgan hotel review

Posted Oct 30, 2017
Pros: Comfort, cleanliness.
Cons: Location, but that's difficult for a property..
Location: The beach is extraordinary beautiful to enjoy. Hearst castle nearby and the entire coast line.
The hotel is nice and comfortable. However, it is a bit away from the ocean on one side and facing the back road off PCH 1 on the other side. We came for the sight and sound of the ocean, not to only enjoy the comfort of the room.

Nice hotel near the beach

Posted Oct 20, 2017
Pros: Quiet and nice ocean view ( until they build on the lot in front ) We were there in October. Great weather and no crowds.
Cons: Nothing!
Location: Great location for Hearst Castle visits. Near Cambria which is so charming.
We arrived and opened the windows to enjoy the breeze and listen to the ocean. The room was spotless as well as well appointed. Very quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was good with sweet things as well as hard boiled eggs. My only concern was the front desk could not give me a printed receipt. Wondered what the charges would be. Not the lowest priced hotel but not the highest either. I'd go back in a heartbeat.
