Pros: It wasn't a typical hotel it was a little unique.
Location: We went to the Hearst Mansion, saw the Elephant Seals and also went to Camberia and enjoyed all.

Always a Solid Choice

Posted Feb 7, 2016
We visit the Central Coast/Paso Robles area often. At least every couple of months. We've stayed everywhere from the La Quinta in East Paso Robles (very nice) to Cambria Palms in Cambria (not so nice). We've stayed at the Morgan more often than any of them. The staff is always great, the rooms are clean and comfortable. It's always best to get an ocean facing room even if it's not ocean view. Way nicer to hear the ocean than the traffic on Highway 1!

My request for a room on the ground floor and near the lobby was satisfactorily addressed. I was traveling with older adults who had a problem with the toilet being extra low. But for the most part our stay was enjoyable and the staff was pleasant.

Close to beach, Hearst Castle

Posted Jan 31, 2016
Pros: For us the location was perfect for what we wanted to do. It was quiet and relaxing.
Cons: Some of the furniture in the room is worn and could be replaced. Also, we didn't care for the hair and skin products.
Location: We visited Hearts Castle, Moro Bay, hiked a beautiful 3-mile trail in the San Simeon state park, enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Indigo Moon in Cambria.
We enjoyed a pleasant 3-night stay in this older, but well-cared for hotel. Interesting side note, the hotel honors the work of Julia Morgan, the architect of Hearst Castle. The staff was very accommodating and the breakfast quite adequate.

Overpriced for the Quality

Posted Jan 21, 2016
Pros: Good points- convenient location, in-room refrigerators, free and ample parking. Some rooms have ocean view. Fireplace is cozy.
Cons: Mattresses, breakfast buffet, drinking water
Location: Less than 10 minutes from Hearst Castle, elephant seal rookery, Moonstone Beach, and shopping/restaurants in Cambria. Great wine tasting available.
There aren't very many hotels in the area, so they are all overpriced. Luckily, we got a good online deal for the weekend--which is about what the normal rates should be. Our room did have a great ocean view and the fireplace is a nice feature. The water in this area is undrinkable (high mineral content?), so be sure to bring some bottled water. The hotel will charge you $2 a bottle and, seriously, it's even hard to brush your teeth with the tap water. We found the beds to be pretty uncomfortable. The mattresses are old and the pad kept bunching under the sheets. The room gets stuffy, even though the weather was cool, so I imagine the summer would be worse. The breakfast buffet (included in price) is pretty awful, but better than nothing in a pinch. Didn't have much interaction with the staff. They are marginally friendly/helpful. Heads up to the physically challenged--there is no elevator. Good points- convenient location, in-room refrigerators, free and ample parking.

Very comfortable hotel near Hearst Castle

Posted Jan 6, 2016
Pros: Clean and comfortable room. Courteous and helpful staff.
Cons: Getting reliable wifi service and ATT cell service would be great!
We had a very clean, comfortable room. The hotel staff was very friendly, courteous, and helpful. There are no elevators in the hotel and they were able to put us in a ground level room for my elderly parents. The biggest drawback was there was no AT&T cell service and their wifi was down during our stay. I had to sit outside in the cold to make calls, texts, and emails. Some may consider that a blessing, especially for a family vacation away from work, but I found it to be inconvenient, even for searching things like weather forecasts, places to eat, and maps.
