lovely outside, shabby inside

Posted Apr 27, 2016 on Hotels
Looks great on the outside but shabby once you get past redception. Shocking wifi. this really frustrates me when it is advertised as free but in reality you can barely use it. The walls were paper thin and we could hear EVERYTHING the neighbours were doing. try explaining that to the kids who coudln't sleep! we could even tell which TV programmes they were watching! we had to request our room was cleaned again because lampshades and other surfaces were covered in dust. Breakfast was far too expensive for a family with 3 kids so we drove elsewhere.

Good value for money

It is good value for money despite the hotel is a bit dated. Service is good and the surrounding is nice particularly if you want to tour the Peak District.

The Chimney Stack Enigma

Posted Feb 11, 2016 on Hotels
Not stayed here for a while and the place had been spruced up feeling more contemporary. My room was nice and modern and clean. The corridors however looked like they had been forgotten in the refurb. Food was ok ...although a little dressed up. Service was fine but the extremely loud classical music being played in the bar/dining area was almost intolerable &I am a classical fan. My bill was incorrect on check out but was put right. Overall not bad if a little quirky.....

Overnight stay

Posted Feb 8, 2016
Pros: Good position for access to Cheshire locations.
Cons: Some staff training would help to make residents feel as though they were getting personal attention.
We travel to Cheshire each year in January and generally find a different hotel each time. On this occasion we chose this hotel as we had stayed before and knew it to be one of the more comfortable ones. It had in fact been refurbished since our last visit so was even better. It is in a pleasant rural location yet very handy for the M6. The bedroom was very comfortable with a large double bed and tasteful decoration. The restaurant was also well furnished and decorated.

sleepless in sandbach.

Posted Oct 14, 2015 on Hotels
We had two sleepless nights here. First was the heating, tried to turn radiator off with no luck. Then the second night there was a wedding reception on, drunk people shouting outside my room untill 3am. If I had know this I would have booked somewhere else....

Nice from the outside but tired inside

Posted Sep 30, 2015
Bedroom comfortable but very tired. Paint and wallpaper peeling. Dead flies on window sill. Dog hair all over the base of the bed and floor. Plastic cups instead of glasses. Reception staff very indifferent, didn't ask if we had enjoyed our stay. Wedding party smoking in the entrance of the hotel...

Needs investment!

Posted Sep 26, 2015 on Hotels
Old and tired, investment has been in the bar, not the rooms. Rotten windows and damp feeling. On the plus side the shower was fantatstic. Had to leave at 7am and there was no breakfast available - criminal for a hotel trying to attract business guests.
