Wonderful like home accomodations

Posted Jul 15, 2015
Pros: The hosts and hospitality; the breakfasts were absolutely delicious too!
Cons: Not much
Location: We were in Sandusky to go to Cedar Point. It was wonderful! Big Oak is less than 10 minutes away and close to a Kroeger's grocery.
We absolutely loved staying at the Big Oak. Jim and Jeannie are wonderful people who made us feel at home and like family. They had many helpful tips and directions for our stay in Sandusky. We would recommend Big Oak to anyone who wants a place to stay that feels like home and you are visiting family.

Retired couple running a B&B out of their large home. Rooms clean/well maintained, breakfast/food delicious. Hosts live/cohabit in common space which is awkward and uncomfortable. Hostess made us uncomfortable with conversation about politics/race which was not invited or welcomed but was otherwise very pleasant and probably well meaning

Warm and Welcoming

If you want to feel as if you're visiting family, then stay at Big Oak B & B. The innkeepers, Jeanie and Jim, are warm, interesting, and interested people. We were welcomed with a pitcher of ice water and basket of fruit in our room. Jeanie offered several recommendations for dinner in downtown Sandusky; and we had a lovely walk by the waterfront after dinner before returning to the B & B. Breakfast was marvelous: a lovely eggbake, fruit, and coffee. If you're interested in going to Cedar Point, the hosts can give you directions to get you there in ten minutes or so. This is also one of the most affordable places to stay in the area. Compare online. The rooms were decorated in a variety of themes, with lovely collections of antiques and crafts made by the innkeeper. If you are a person who wants immaculate, spare surroundings, this is not the place for you. If you want a homey, British style B& B you will want to book at Big Oak.

Pros: Warmth of the owners and privacy/comfort of my room
Cons: I really loved my stay.....I would probably only have added a reading lamp next to the bed.I know if I had asked, they would have gotten me one.
Location: out of the plasticity of regular hotels....a beautiful, quiet neighborhood
I was completely comfortable and slept so well at this bed and breakfast. If I ever go to Sandusky again, I will definitely stay here. I felt like I was at home. Lovely people who run the business...Jeanne and Jim.....
