Excellent family vacation experience

Great for families. Room with full kitchens and large balconies, self-serve barbecue areas, self-serve laundry and easy parking. Not luxurious rooms but comfortable and clean. Many pool choices including fantastic large shallow kids pool & pool with waterslides. Very kid friendly beach with water sport rentals on the beach (SUP, kayak etc) and lots of shells to collect. Easy access to beach chairs at pool/Beach throughout the day and friendly attentive staff. The resort was fully booked but never felt too crowded and always found great spots on the beach or at the pools.We saw manatees in the resort harbour several times and dolphins from the shoreline. We stayed at the tennis villas which are a short 5--10 min trolley ride from the main pool and beach area however there was a small pool right beside our room as well. I would recommend renting a golf cart to travel around the resort, though the trolley is still convenient. A room closer to the main pool might be nice next time but an advantage of the tennis villas is proximity to the Captiva village nearby - great for dinner at Mucky Duck's right on the beach or Doc Ford's with nightly live music. Overall a wonderful family experience of Shell collecting, Beach and pool all day, dinner with live music each night, lots of wildlife and sunset on one of the beaches every night! All amenities nearby. Also great staff who put on a fun July 4 celebration & games for the kids along with fireworks. Highly recommend

but a little walk to beach (beach view condos sold out). Best beach ever!!! Could take nice long walks on this huge stretch of beach. Shells everywhere! Rooms are getting a little shabby. Shag carpeting should definitely be removed & tile extended throughout unit.

Great place for the whole family!!!!

This is our second year heading down to South Seas Island Resort. The kids love the camp at Scully's, the trolley rides are fun, the food is great, and the whole staff is fabulous!!!! We will be returning next year!!!

long weekend getaway

Great place....poor bed

Everything was great except our mattress. You couldn't tell by looking at the bed but one side was broken down with a pronounced downward slide. They turned the mattress next day but that caused an issue for the other side of the bed.

Location: Best location on the island. Lots of activities for the kids and nice and quiet if you want
Beautiful location, million dollar properties but the facility is dated in both decor and technology. The AC unit in our suite was dated and so noisy that it woke us. The exterior of the guest accommodations needs to be refreshed. The pool areas don't have towels so you have to anticipate going there after the beach, which is beautiful, and steal towels to bring with you. Restaurants are wonderful, food is very good and staff very attentive. I didn't bring a blue tooth speaker as I thought I'd be able to connect to the units system. Not. Seems like the owned properties are kept up while the guest buildings are not. All in all, it was very relaxing,and it was a good quick getaway.

Great for families and couples

Definitely not a solo trip spot. You are stuck on the resort. Must have golf cart to get around. Ideally suited for families and couples looking to chill. South Pointe is dead. Do yourself a favor and stay at the North Pointe. You might not need a golf cart for $$ / day. I didn't eat at any of the resort restaurants. Beautiful setting. I would go back with a date.
