Nice location and amenities
Quck overnight at the beach. The Noseeums are terrible so be prepared if you want to walk the beach during early morning and evening times.

We started off a bit on the rough side but the manager Dawn came to the rescue and immediately corrected the issue. We had a great stay, beach was breathtaking, pool was also a welcome change. The rooms are clean, not huge but certainly adequate since not much time was spent inside. Lanai was refreshing in the evening. The outside bar offered live music most nights which I truly appreciated. Surrounding area offered fine dining. Don’t forget to rent a boat and go fishing, another great way to spend the day. Definitely family friendly as is the island. Would go back again. Beware the no-see-ums, bring bug repellent although they feasted on me my husband didn’t get one bite!

We had a great stay! The property is beautiful and we loved the fact that it was a relatively quiet resort (no partiers). The amenities were great (bike rentals, kayaks, paddle boards) and the staff were all super friendly and helpful. The room was clean and had a cute, beachy vibe, with a great view! We would definitely stay here again!

The room was not the same as pictured. The Check-in process was not smooth, billed me again upon check-in. Great location and clean. Older building and can hear everything. Poor cell and internet signal. Great pool, bar and food on property.

West Wind was perfect for my trip. Steps away from the beach, heated pool with a restaurant/bar! Free bike rentals, kayaks, and paddle boards. Another restaurant on the property that was open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Will definitely stay here again.

This resort was fabulous!! The dining was exceptional! Live music was great! swimming pool and included activities were fun!! Staff super friendly and accommodating! Perfect view of the sunrise and sunsets! Would highly recommend and will definitely be back!!

Love this area. Repeat visitor. Disappointed this visit. Resort fee charged even though weather did not allow use of pool, or enjoyment of beach. Felt pressed to leave an hour earlier than check out time so new beds could be placed in room. Could have been scheduled after check out. Staff pleasant and helpful.

This was a spontaneous trip and it did exactly what we needed. The staff here is some of the best we have ever come across. Especially big shout out to Mary in the Normandie restaurant!!! She's simply just a gem! Was so relaxing. We will be back

Overall a great experience! The air conditioner was really loud (sounded like a jet engine) , the room was outdated but tidy. The outside amenities were awesome and so close to the beach ! The restaurant/bar was great, the food was good and so Convenient. We had a great time !

Nice hotel in a quiet location
With my family for 2 nights. Good room that had a good balcony view of the pool and ocean. Liked the poolside restaurant/bar,(good food!) and the free paddle board rental.

We liked the convenience of everything. Walk out your back door and you are at the pool/beach...front door takes you to the office and restaurant. The only problem we found was a wiring problem involving the coffee pot/microvave and bath receptacle. Can use only one at a time. Inconvenient yes - problem no. We worked around it. 2nd stay at this resort and it is really nice.

The lobby staff are exceptional, super friendly and helpful. Although the rooms are pretty small, they are tastefully appointed. I just wished there was a table or small desk in the room.

First and certainly LAST time staying here. Room was LOUD and small, we could not get any sleep. Property is very dated and run down. But above all, management is not honest nor customer focused. We booked for two nights, but after the first night we decided to leave due to the issue with the room. They did not offer a different room to us when we checked out, and then lied to Expedia when they called to confirm that we had checked out so that we could get a refund for the 2nd night.

We are excited to be taking these steps to further improve our guests experiences here at West Wind. We regret to hear you had some noise concerns in your room. After checking the reservation notes, I see this was never brought to our teams attention. Our team is available 24/7 at the Front Desk and are happy to assist our guests with concerns such as these. We are unsure where the miscommunication happened in regards to your reservation. I do see in your stay notes that a new room accommodation was offered to your by our front desk team on two different occasions. We are sad to see you declined this offer on both occasions. When Expedia reaches out for matters such as this, our team simply relays all of the information from a Guest’s stay notes, or information that was brought to the Front Desk’s attention. When booking, you are in contract with Expedia. We have no control or say in refunds through 3rd booking parties. If Expedia did not refund you we apologize, however this is something we have no control over. Thank you for sharing your feedback and we hope this clears up any confusion.

Terrible dirty concrete block room for 400 a night. On the beach doesnt help. Would never go back unless We had no choice. Pool was nice but crowded. Beach is OK but cant compare with Bowmans or Captiva.

We pride ourselves on high standards so I am concerned that you found the room to be "dirty". If we had been informed of an issue during your stay, we would have done our utmost to remedy it. Unlike Captiva, the beaches on Sanibel are deliberately left untouched and natural as the entire island is a wildlife refuge.; the attraction here for most visitors being the shelling. We hope that you will be able to find somewhere that caters to your specific preferences on our islands in the future

Thank you Claudia for taking the time to submit your review. I understand that you brought your dog with you, without notifying our team. As only certain rooms are 'pet-friendly' this is why your room would have been changed at check-in. We do ask guests to notify us at time of booking, if they require a pet-friendly room. We are sorry that you felt your room was unsatisfactory, but I believe that the AC was checked by the maintenance department, and was found to be cooling the room to 58 degrees. They did also leave a fan in the room for you, and we did offer to relocate you if you still felt the AC was inadequate. As far as the mattress is concerned, it is hard to provide one that is suitable for all tastes. However, we did get our Housekeeping team to place a mattress topper on the mattress for you, and hope that this made it more to your liking. We trust that you enjoyed the rest of your stay with us

Will stay again!
Hotel was worth the value for what I paid. Upon check in, we found out the hotel offers Kayaking, paddle boards, bike rentals, games, hammocks all for free. There is a Cafe on the property for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Pool was a great temp and walking distance to the beach.

I do not recommend it to anyone, the rooms with a musty smell, the air conditioners do not cool, we went with the family and rented 6 rooms and none of the air cooled, also the price of the rooms is very expensive as if it were a 4-star hotel , the restaurant the few dishes that there are besides expensive had poor quality, at night there is no lighting in the end I do not recommend it to anyone

We are very sorry that you felt unsatisfied with your recent stay. We do try to resolve any issues as soon as we are alerted, so I can only assume that we were not made aware of them at the time. Our prices are very competitive with similar properties on the island, so I am sorry if this was not what you were expecting. As far as the restaurant is concerned, we regularly receive very positive reviews; we are again sorry that it clearly wasn't to your liking. There are significant limitations on the lighting across Sanibel island, due to it being a wildlife refuge island. It is also mandated that no lights can be visible on the beach due to turtle nesting season at this time of the year.
