This is the nicest hotel in the area from the outside, and the building is well maintained. Not luxurious, but spotlessly cleaned. The included breakfast is quite complete and good. While the staff appeared a little aloof at first, after a couple of days and they proved to be friendly and willing to help.

Fantastic two days at the Hotel Alexander, would give a higher rating if I could. Erica, Evita and Letizia were incredibly friendly, helpful and professional. Great location, walked to everywhere around the city, nice breakfast and old pretty setting. Would definitely come here again.

Kids loved the garden - table tennis and football table! Breakfast could have a bit more verity over the week e.g maybe omelette option? Hotel was great - Sanremo was bit a let down as very touristy place but bus station does only have sigh of bus no timetable at all. Staff very welcoming and friendly. thank you for looking after us!

Lovely hotel
We had a lovely stay. Conveniently located in the town centre with parking. Clean well appointed air conditioned room. Very helpful staff. Welcome drink in the garden. Breakfast served outside on the terrace. Continental breakfast with choice of eggs to order. Would highly recommend a stay here.

Fantastic hotel in centre of San Remo 500 metres from train station location is perfect excellent service good internet Warm welcome with the offer of coffee from the receptionist Eliza (cappuccino) was the best one we had in italy to date nice and hot and great taste Our room was in the anex (apartment building next door) Room was clean and basic with the normal Italian breakfast. Beautiful garden setting for when the weather is warmer *** all cafes and shopping on the doorstep and the esplanade 5 minutes walk A nice jesture we received a complimentary bottle of bubbly Perfect hotel for visiting San Remo we would definately stay there again Great market on Tuesdays and Saturdays with plenty of bargains just a 10 minute walk

I chose the Alexander jjust because of walking distance from train station, and am so glad i did, was Simply amazing, from the wonderful "complete" breakfast, to the complimentary sparkling wine in the afternoon left in my room, the trio of girls at the front desk were simply charming..the courtyard with all it amenities and ambiance, the complimentary bicycles, plus the value, and proximity to everything...Can't wait to come back to San Remo, and the Alexander will always be my hotel!

I have stayed at this hotel several times before because I have always felt extremely welcome by the friendly and efficient staff. The hotel is central for town, sea front and train station. An added bonus is being able to use the free bicycles with pleasant cycle path so close by. Many thanks

Traditional Italian hotel set in a lovely garden.
Hotel set within a lovely traditional Italian building. Beautifully kept garden where breakfast was served each morning. Fantastic friendly customer service, received both a free welcome drink on arrival and a bottle of sparkling wine courtesy of the management. Lovely touch! Spotlessly clean room. Bathroom compact but had everything one would need for their stay. Window shutters made for an excellent night's sleep. Traditional style but in keeping with the building.

Don't miss out on this one........
On arrival we were kindly greeted by a lovely young desk clerk who gave us all the information we needed without us asking. We loved it so much that we stayed for a second night. Breakfast was in the garden which was lovely too. The breakfast staff were a delight. After returning from sight seeing we were in awe that we had been left a bottle of sparkling wine in our room with kind regards for our stay.

Disappointing, expensive
When you book early and ask specifically NOT ground floor, you don't expect to be given a dingy semi-basement, small basic room, with no chance of moving to what you asked for. Such a disappointing hotel in every way (staff were friendly but ineffective). Breakfast was appalling. I don't know where other reviewers usually stay but we had to go out for breakfast because (a) there is so little choice and (b)what's available is very sweet or chocolate-y and the coffee is dreadful from a hopeless machine. Very expensive and with little to offer anyone used to proper hotels of this rating. AVOID!

A stunning value play with frills
The Hotel Alexander is fairly priced with much more than you would expect for the price. Although one doesn't get a mint on the pillow or shower amenities (soap, shampoo), one does get a clean, new-looking, well-maintained room with superb service from the staff. The Hotel is only a 6-minute walk from the train station and two blocks from one of the few all-sand beaches on the Italian or French Rivieras. Additionally, one receives a great buffet continental breakfast each morning. Rooms also include a safe (no charge), hair dryer, and satellite TV (mostly in Italian, but there is CNBC with the market results). All in all, a great place to stay.

Lovely old charm hotel
We had a. Restful time in this old world hotel with the most polite, helpful staff. The hotel is located close to the port and walking distance to all sanremos attractions. Breakfast was included and the room was spacious,clean and airy - particularly good for the price.

Punished for booking through Expedia
Even though we paid 85 euros for a room in February, we were given a north-facing one on the main floor behind the reception desk, a room that looked out onto an alleyway behind the hotel. When we asked for a room that faced south, we were told they were all booked. The next morning at breakfast, we could tell by the number of people that the hotel was nowhere near full and that they had punished us for booking through Expedia. This doesn't seem fair to me. The location of our room also meant that we could hear everyone coming and going through the night and especially just before dawn when the staff arrived for the day. A disappointing stay.

We only stayed overnight but found the staff very welcoming, our room was comfortable and location was excellent. The hotel supplied bikes and we rode 20 kms along the waterfront and walked through the old town the next morning, a beautiful place to visit.

Quite pricey for a basic hotel but immaculate and a superb stay with Breakfast. Old-world charm and customer service. Don't bother with the hotel parking just drive on 400 yards and use the underground 15 Euros/day.

Ideal location for train station, town centre & old town. Friendly staff served us a complementary welcome drink whilst relaxing in the garden after we'd been travelling all day. Enjoyed very good buffet breakfast, also in the garden. Our standard room en-suite room in the annex was small but spotlessly clean. Would stay in the main hotel if staying more than one night.
