Newish hotel about 15 mins walk from station. Friendly staff and nice room with sea view balcony and table. Good breakfast spread. Well located for stunning new marina and lift access to beautiful old town.

What a special place. Unlike any other. Not luxurious but very special and quaint. Hosts are LOVELY. Could be upgraded to luxurious with softer bed and down pillows and a little more attention to toiletries. The used shampoo bottles were a distraction from high end accommodations.

Friendly and helpful reception staff. Good view of private boats in small sheltered harbor. Easy access to beach and dining options. Advertised free parking, but that was actually adjacent public parking which was limited. Secured parking in nearby facility will cost extra. Quiet room was well kept and convenient to lift. Continental breakfast was adequate with friendly staff.

Fantastic
We were greeted by a very friendly helpful lady, she made us feel very welcome. We took the lift to the second floor, our room was beautiful with a lovely balcony. The room was very clean and decorated with taste, the bed was also extremely comfortable. The food at breakfast was plentiful, and the breakfast staff very warm and welcoming. Outside the font of the hotel is a very lovely place to sit and relax with a drink. The position of this hotel is well placed for the old town, and the marina, with restaurants just seconds away. We had a wonderful peaceful stay. Thank you we will be back🙂

Great location! Wish I knew in advance that there’s no AC - it gets turned off in October? A fan would have helped create a breeze in hot room. Breakfast was wonderful and hotel staff very kind and helpful.

Cigarettes ruined my stay
I had notified the hotel that I am highly allergic to cigarettes. You can imagine my horror to find people smoking inside the indoor lobby when I arrived. The clerk said "what am I to do?" It caused smoke to go up the stairs and into my room. It happened several times during my stay, forcing me to abandon my room to escape getting sick. I got very sick my last night because of the cigarettes. I will never stay there again.

Great to find a fancy new area of Ventimiglia, wherein this hotel is situated. Only a quick stop for us but very handy and very nice.

Disappointed - look elsewhere
Disappointing stay. There’s much better places nearby on Italian coast that I’ve seen for similar money. - Water quality of sea front was poor for 3 days straight...lots of floating trash in the water (garbage and natural sea trash). - Ventimiglia is older and not as nice as neighboring towns. Walk into town from hotel is roughly kept and has some occasional unpleasant smells. - Room was recently renovated with marginal breakfast included - Hotel charged my credit card one day before I arrived (not a prepaid rate; supposed to pay on site)

Dear Sir, We are sorry if the stretch of sea near the hotel has not been to its liking and that walking along the seafront has smelled unwelcome but happens all over the world near the restaurants to hear every kind of smell; however this is not due to our hotel. Not knowing its name, I can not check, but the bookings made with Expedia are all charged now, so we charge them at the time of booking. Thank you for your stay at our hotel and say goodbye.

Sara’s amazing vacation
The hotel is in a perfect location. A nice clean room right on the beach, walking distance to everything. The owner is very nice and very helpful. Very nice breakfast. Restaurants all along the boardwalk. Train station about ten minute walk. We took it to Monte Carlo just a 1/2 hour ride and one hour to Nice. Extremely easy.

Great Staff! Great Location! We where just for one night to get to the Monaco F1 Race and it is very close to the Vertimiglia train station and it takes about 25 minutes to get to Monaco for 4.5 Euro! Has several Restaurants at walking distance and the beach is right in front. They are building a pier in front of the hotel and I belive it will be ready on October 2018 Would definitely recommend it! The best part is the staff!

Boutique Hotel on the Beach
This is the second time we've stayed at Hotel Sole Mare. The location is excellent and you couldn't ask for better service from the friendly staff. There are excellent restaurants within walking distance.

MAIDS STOLE MONEY FROM MY WALLET
The front desk staff were all wonderful, as were the breakfast staff. The location was wonderful. My issue is with the cleaning staff. My room did not have a "do not disturb" sign, and the day after check in the maid started to open my door without knocking, as soon as I said "No thank you" in Italian, she apologized and closed the door. However later that day, when I was in my room, the maid (not sure if it was the same one or a different one) opened my door, and I kept saying "No thank you" over and over and she still CAME INTO THE ROOM. I was NOT ok with this and kept asking her to leave. The following day, when I was going down for breakfast another maid was right outside my room, and I told her I did not need them to go for anything. I had a very quick bite to eat (less than 10 minutes), and in that time the maid went into my room, sprayed something disgusting everywhere that I had to open all the windows. And 10 Euros WAS MISSING FROM MY WALLET all of a sudden. I will NEVER stay here again. They invaded my personal space, my privacy, and they stole from me. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Good Hotel Convenient for Railway Station !!
A good hotel within a 10 minute walk of the railway station. The room was clean and comfortable and the town centre close by. Our train didn't arrive in Ventimiglia until 1710 and we caught the 0908 to Paris Gare du Lyon the following morning, so we weren't in town for long. Should we need to stay in Ventimiglia again we will definitely choose this hotel !!

This hotel is directly across the street from the sea which made swimming so very convenient. After a swim, I went for a glass of rosé and did some writing or reading and one of the three restaurants along the water, only 1-4 minutes walking from the hotel. The hotel itself and every square inch is immaculate. Each room seems to have a sea view and I spent hours on the terrace as is so lovely. I greatly appreciated the fridge in the room for wine and those evenings when I was really just wanting to chill in my room, with fruit, cheese and and some different meats I bought at the morning market. It was an easy walk to the market and main area for shopping and very convenient to walk up to the old town. I also appreciated the morning breakfasts with hot boiled eggs and a selection of fruits, yogurts and meats. The pastry was not the best but that was minor. Venitmiglia has pretty much same beach as Nice France nd only 30 minute train ride away, but Ventimiglia is WAAAAAYYYYY less busy on the beach. Great swimming too. The city is just off the border of France and Italy and easy access by train to Menton, Ville Franche, Nice and as well in Italy to San Remo and Genova and further. I have stayed at this hotel 8 years in a row and would definitely again. I didn't leave until late in the day but luggage can be stored after check out and they provide a washroom as well so I could still swim and then go change and clean up before my pick up to.

Friendly hotel in good location
We thoroughly enjoyed this hotel. Felt very welcome. Hotel is in a good location with good sea views and lots of good restaurants in the area. Ventimiglia has a lot to offer with a great weekly market and easy travel along the coast in France and Italy.

Minute room filled entirely with the bed. Our Booking was made for a sea facing room for my husband and I. The reservation got messed up and We were given a double and adjacent single room which was just as well in the end as we needed the other room just to have space for our suitcases and stuff. Not a happy experience. Avoid room 29/30.

Train interrupted but hotel staff was outstanding
Our train from Paris to Ventimiglia was interrupted due to a strike and my wife and I got stuck in Nice. I contacted the Hotel via email and notified them we may not make our final destination. Our train was late to Nice so we missed our new connection and even thought it was last minute Hotel Sole Mare gave us our refund. I can't comment on the rooms although pictures look amazing but the staff is top notch. Thank you Hotel Sole Mare.

Nice hotel but noisy.
Lovely hotel, let down by poor noise insulation. No one wants to be disturbed in the sanctuary of their hotel room, by children running around in the room above or next to them.

Price a little high for what you get.
I paid $75 for a room. I think that was a little high given this is not a high-demand location or that there was anything particularly special about the hotel. It is neither located in the charming historic center of town, nor does it have a good view of the shore.

Pretty good, but not worth the price
Good hotel with a wonderful balcony (but it overlooked a huge construction project going on in the port...). The owner's were extremely gracious and hospitable - this was the real charm by far. Bed was comfortable and the room itself was clean and nice. The bathroom had a pretty awful sulfur smell - likely from the salt water.

A future top spot right on the water
This hotel offer great service and super friendly, helpful staff. However the massive work in progress across the road of the new harbor is a negative right now, but in a year's time it will be finished and this hotel will be in a 5-star location. My only real negative point is the "Free Parking" advertised. There is no on-site parking. It is street parking and unsecured. May be more honest to say; "public parking available" in front of the hotel. Once this is sorted I will gladly give Sole Mare 5 stars

Hotel is in a good location near the beach and handy to town, and rooms are new and clean. However, staff were unhelpful - didn't give any more info than we directly asked for, and when they didn't return our passports on check-out and cost us a train connection they made it clear that it was our problem and they couldn't care less. Unless you speak good Italian, take care.

Friendly, clean, hassle free hotel
Only stayed one night, but received a friendly welcome, and a clean room. Free wifi and parking (subject to a space in front of the hotel), but after a long drive, check in was a breeze, and relief. The hotel has views over the harbour which is undergoing some development which could be noisy during the week but we enjoyed a quiet Sunday so had no issues. It's a pleasant 10 min stroll along the front into town, no hills involved for those that are hill averse! Breakfast was a simple affair, did the job though, cappuccino was good.

What a lovely hotel
Having arrived with a young infant, the staff at the hotel could not do enough to get us settled into the room. They were extremely kind. The hotel rooms all have sea views and are clean and comfortable. The restaurant next door 'Pasta & Basta' was superb, the pasta is to die for. The included breakfast also was well done, typically italian and nourishing. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, it is ideally situated for the Friday market a short walk down the road and across the river.
