ITALY'S HIDDEN TREASURE
Posted Mar 26, 2018
Pros: the personal service, food and attention to detail. Love the little dog onsite too!
Cons: bug spray for dinner guests dining in the courtyard/gardens, possibly more pillows in the room for us spoiled americans & softer mattresses :)
Location: Monte Cassino Abbey, Cassino, Valleluce
My family and I stayed here at Al Poggio di Casalucense back in August and truly enjoyed our visit. The owners are genuine people who take great pride in their establishment. By the end of our stay we felt like the owner was family and he had treated us as so. My family & I can not wait to someday return, I highly recommend this hotel if you are in the area and need a retreat away from tourists. The gardens here are absolutely beautiful & the water fountains were very relaxing. At night the courtyard comes alive with magical twinkle lights and fire torches leading out to the gardens......We dined here outside one evening & it was a memory I will never forget! They host events here which I am sure are fantastic! Keep in mind that if you are prone to mosquito's please bring bug spray for this was the only negative. The food was delicious, my family particularly loved the seafood. Breakfast here was also lovely, and the host will prepare anything that you may desire. We cannot thank the owners enough for being so kind & taking great care of us! You should definitely stay here if you are visiting or at the very least dine at their wonderful restaurant! - Thanks again for everything! Sincerely, The Cece Family

Great Base For Exploring the Frosinone Region
Posted Jul 20, 2014
Pros: The owners were lovely and the gardens especially beautiful
Cons: The hotel is setup for special occasions (weddings) so is much bigger than can be used for tourists
Location: The hotel is close to Sant' Elia Fiumerapido, Bellmonte Castello, Cassino and Atina - lovely places to visit close by and in easy reach of the hills
My son and I stayed at Al Poggio (little hill/ knoll) for four days to explore our family roots in the Val di Comino in July 2014. It was a great place to relax in the countryside. The gardens were fabulous by day and night - big, shady and beautifully kept. The owners were lovely and very helpful and the rooms clean and cool.

Pros: The service
Cons: None
This is a wonderful hotel. Not only is it extremely clean and peaceful with a beautiful garden
but the staff could not have been more helpful. When our camera battery ran down they leant us a plug adaptor so that we could recharge it and when it suddenly started to rain they leant us umbrellas. we shall certainly go back when we get the chance.

Probably the best hotel I have stayed in
Posted Jul 7, 2010We booked this hotel on Expedia as a stopover on the way back from Greece, not knowing what to expect. However this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The hotel is about 15 years old and modern from the outside but the decor inside is traditional and very tasteful. The hotel is off the main track, outside the town but very well signposted.
We arrived mid afternoon and asked where we could get some lunch we were offered a choice of sandwich and one was freshly made and served in the beautiful garden. My husband wanted to visit the Military Cemetery and the son of the owner could not have been more helpful, providing maps and information.
The dinner was the best Italian meal I have ever eaten, with very delicate flavours. We had minestrone soup which was made from scratch using fresh vegetables and full of flavour.
We only stayed one night but wished we had booked for longer. Unfortunately we had already booked our next hotel. We definitely intend to return for longer.
The owner's son and daughter do not speak brilliant English but both tried their hardest to converse with us, and also to learn more English.
I really cannot fault this hotel.
