Great grounds, poor food. Problems in room.

Posted May 21, 2017
Our room had the sink plugged up, fire alarm indicating low battery Bip, big puddle of water from dripping air conditioner on the floor. They solved the problems quickly. Grounds are beautiful, food on a whole is poor. Staff helpful.

Over rated

Posted Apr 2, 2017
Pros: The pools
Cons: Better food and drinks.
Location: You have to check the ruins in Chalchuapa, also have to check near by local foods stands.
This place is over rated. Let's start with the food, it's not worth paying the money. Also the Alcohol beverages are not TOP Shelf for the money paid. I have stayed in other places and pay less and the food and drinks are amazing. Also not enough staff at the bards. To get a cup of water for my kids had to make like of 20 minutes.

Mostly enjoyable stay

Posted Mar 30, 2017
Pros: The grounds including pools and ocean access, the staff and the bars.
Cons: Updated rooms that include coffee maker and safe lock, local food selection at the buffet
Location: On the coast, so keep in mind it's 2-3 hour drive to most of the points of interest in El Salvador. There's plenty of in- resort activities available.
The grounds are very nice and the location is very nice as well. Grounds are very big, be prepared to do quite a bit of walking if you stay in buildings 4 or 5. Check in was a hassle as it took about an hour. Security seemed to be adequate and did not feel worried to walk around the grounds at night. While it's considered "all-inclusive", that only applies to the buffet and bar. If you want to have eat at one of the other restaurants on the grounds, you'll have to pay for dinner and be prepared to be bothered by the staff trying to get you to make reservations at one of these restaurants. The buffet does its job at providing decent meals. There's different themes each night, so you do get some variation. Disappointed that there wasn't more Salvadoran choices. I didn't come to El Salvador to eat pasta and Chinese food. Most of the people staying were Salvadoran, so that may be why the international selection of food. Something different than what they might have at home. The rooms were nice size and overall were pleasant. What set them down a notch was the bathroom. They are outdated and the shower and sink were very slow to drain. The one small elevator was out of order 2 out of our 4 day stay. Not much fun going up 4 flights in 96 degrees and 80% humidity. Was bothered by the fact that they charge extra to have a coffee maker in room as well as an extra charge for the lock to the in room safe. The staff was very nice and very helpful.

Good food, good staff, good experience

Posted Feb 27, 2017
The only thing I would complain about is that we only got 1 key for the the 4 of us. If you want another key you would have to deposit $100 cash. Another thing was the fridge was $6 per night. ( which is strange because I thought it was included) everything else was excellent. Delicious food and loved the fresh ceviche bar by the beach. The staff was really sweet... overall good experience! Could of used more entertainment during the day but overall great experience. Thanks Decameron!

Better than expected:)

Posted Feb 21, 2017
Pros: The views, sunsets, grounds, pools, beach
Cons: higher end drink options
Location: The hotel has its own private beach nearby ($4 per person) which also has the all inclusive amenities, also many excursions possible
We have been to many all-inclusives and had never been to El Salvador, but were very pleased. We are not too picky which is what made this hotel perfect! The weather cannot be beat and the hotel overall was great! Staff was very nice and helpful, but just a heads up that not many people know too much English. Also we were the only Americans that we met at the resort which for us was ok, mostly locals and a couple french Canadians. Food was about as expected and drinks were on the lower end, but overall both were completely fine. The grounds are very well maintained and the hotel is huge so there is a lot to see and explore. There are many great pools to choose from and a great beach! Water slides were fun and the views from pretty much everywhere were amazing! Tons of seating options by the pools and on the beach and never felt too busy. Buildings 3 and 4 were a little nicer for the fact that they are taller and have bigger balconies, but every room is an ocean view and we were pleased with ours in building 2, a/c works great which was key! Hotel offers excursions which were nice and we took advantage of. Shows at night were also good with fire and water being really good! Great atmosphere and tons of dinning options. Amazing sunsets every night! We would definitely return and recommend this hotel!
