Definitely Coming Back!

Chantico is a charming boutique hotel in Ojai! It was beautiful with the pool-side painted murals, glass-stained windows and sunflower tiles. The staff was super helpful and shout out to Debbie, who rocks and called me when she found that I left my ID in my room and shipped it to me before I moved out of state!!!

Very disappointing

Pros: Great location, clean on the outside and very nice pool area
Cons: The rooms need a very good cleaning. Several repairs are needed. Wood blind, drawers bottoms had holes you could see through and needed paint badly.
Location: Close to restaurants and shops
Our stay started out without being able to check in. We were running ahead of schedule so we called for an early check-in and told no problem we can check in at 2pm. We arrived at 145pm and the office was locked with a sticky note on the window stating they would be back at 130pm. We left and came back at 215, 245 and 310. Still nobody there. So we waited with another guest until 325pm when someone finally showed up. She was very nice but that doesn't fix the fact we were inconvenienced. The outside of the hotel was very clean but thats where it ended. The room was very outdated and dirty. It was in serious need of paint and a deep cleaning. I was having problems logging into the WiFi so went down to the office and what a surprise, no one there. Went back to the office on our way to dinner and was told to bring my ipad to the office log in there and I should be good to go. Not so much. Apparently our room was to far from the router so the WiFi didn't work. So we come back later that evening and there were ants in my drink cup and I saw a couple of pincher bugs and ants in the bathroom. But no one to tell because guess what, no one in the office again. Well we wake up at 730am the next morning and figure we will get a bite to eat at the provided continental breakfast before heading out. Supposed to start at 7am but as usual the office was locked and no one home. Went back at 810 am and was able to get some pastries and cereal.

Pool and hot tub nice, internet non existent

Cons: They could get a decent internet provider.
If you're coming here to visit Ojai, this is probably a fine place to stay. I just needed somewhere to hole up while my house was being exterminated; and I had a lot of work to do. The woman at the desk gave me the wifi passcodes and usernames (about 8 possible combinations all together), and none of them worked. I called the lobby, and the woman specified that only one of the combinations worked; she also seemed confused about the difference between a network and a username, and couldn't tell me what to enter in the "security code" box that wasn't mentioned on the instructions. After a couple of fruitless hours, I got online in the lobby, but the connection dropped before I got to my room, 3rd from the end of the corridor. Didn't get more that three seconds straight of internet access the entire 20 hour stay--couldn't even load my email. The strange thing was how little the woman at the desk seemed to know about it. My recommendation: if you need the internet, stay next to or above the lobby.

Authentic Spanish Style

Charming Hotel Near Downtown Ojai

Check-in was easy and enjoyable. They offer a free glass of wine each evening from 5-7 pm. The walk into downtown is 5 minutes or less, and there is a full service grocery store on the way to downtown. The hotel has a nice 2nd floor patio where we had our breakfast each morning. We will definitely stay there again!

Cheap imitation

Spa room bath tub: jacuzzi jets didn't work, no bathtub plug Bed: on wheels, moved around the room, cheap headboard nailed to the wall, cheap linens Bedside tables: 2 feet below the bed, had to lean down to get things Poor ventilation, small unscreened window Noisy street and noisy air conditioner Dirty tile floor
