Comfortable, sweet inn with an exceptional hostess

Posted Oct 14, 2017
Dominique was our hostess. She was accommodating without being intrusive. A cat lives in the house and I'm allergic to cats but this one was not allowed in gust rooms. I will definitely stay there again.

Quaint B&B

Posted Sep 19, 2017
Nice little B&B a little out of the way from State St and downtown but that's what Uber or walking is for. Hot tub and breakfast and a clean cute room are all pluses.

Ok if you have a car

Posted Sep 19, 2017 on Hotels
It was ok, the lady was a bit abrupt and it was a bit far to walk from downtown and the wharf unless you have a car. The breakfast was great. We came after hours and the car park was difficult to find in the dark as you have to enter from the road behind and there was no sign in the car park.

a pleasant overnight

Posted Sep 17, 2017
Pros: quiet and cozy
Cons: parking, but you are in downtown santa barbara, so the rear lot helped
Location: we passed on the natural history museum, but other guests commented that they enjoyed the star party
we wanted to get away for our 24th anniversary and found this gem. we stayed in the oriole room and enjoyed a soak in the jacuzzi on the private patio entry. the bed was comfortable and the a/c helped us sleep after so many weeks of hot weather. breakfast was delicious and the staff was very friendly and was able to accomidate my wifes gluten free diet. thank you to the owner and staff and we would highly recommend this as a place to stay and we will be returning.

Poor customer service

Posted Sep 11, 2017 on Hotels
We were shown to our room, at which point we were told that our room was the only room without air conditioning! Room had only 1 window in the bathroom and the door that opened to the small sitting area with no air flow. We were given a small fan and a medium fan to keep the room cool (which was impossible with the 90 degree days and no air flow). Had to leave the door open at night with the fan running, still too hot to sleep. The tub in the shower would not drain when we took a shower the first day and you had to stand ankle deep in the water. Owner was informed, at which point she said she had checked it and it is ok now. The second day we didn't have any warm water for shower. She said she will look into it, by 5 pm, the problem was still not fixed and all water was shut off due to repairs. When I talked to her, she was very rude, that it is not her fault, she couldn't find a plummer and that someone has gone and turned the water heater off! No act of kindness or even an offer to do something else about it. I HAD TO ASK TO SEE WHERE I CAN GO TO USE THE RESTROOM AND WASH MY HANDS SINCE WE HAD NO WATER, she never offered! The plummer fixed the problem and it was determined that she had the problem for a while and just didn't want to invest in a new heater. We had paid over $400 for two nights, she gave us $50 back after we couldn't use our room for a whole day. I will never subject us to such conditions, even if I could stay there for free!

I am sorry this happened during the heat wave we had in Santa Barbara and that you are upset but let me correct your comment, first yes this is the only room without a/c because it is not possible to install it , you knew it when you booked and it is very rare that we have such a heat wave, however I asked if you wanted a free upgrade to a room with a/c for the first night because we had one available, you refused. second , for the slow draining , I checked , there is nothing wrong with the draining of the tub. third, someone shut off the gas arrival to the water heater ( ? ) the second day you were there and we could not light the pilot again, rather common problem , the plumber had to change the thermocouple, unfortunately when things break they don't warn and no, it is not something that happened before ! Yes it is hard to find a plumber on labor day weekend even for an emergency and we did our best, In all you had no water from 4.30 pm to 5 pm. fourth we offered and gave you a $ 50 discount for the inconvenience. I was not rude but I refuse to be controlled by an angry customer ( this water heater serves 3 rooms , after we explained the problem to everyone , everybody else was fine with it and thanked me for fixing the problem ).

Pros: It was cute and charming and very peaceful.

Not for us

Posted Aug 23, 2017 on Orbitz
Pros: We liked the cook. He was a nice kid. Very friendly.
Cons: Attn to detail. Skylights in the room were dirty. A Garden room when there's no garden? When I looked out window there was junk being stored.
Location: We were there during the Fiesta Celebration. So that was cool. Location is close to State Street. Which was nice. Also about 2 miles from beach.
This was our first time at a bed & breakfast, and we were really excited. Unfortunately it did not live up to what we anticipated. The attention to detail at the place was lacking. It's such a great property, but it could have been so much more, especially for the price! Skylights were dirty. They said there was wi-fi, but it really was only by main house. We asked other guests, and they said they had the same problem, and had told the owner. We all received the same answer, which was obviously an embellishment. The a/c unit was a window unit, which was fine, except the blinds covered it. So we had to put blinds up to get the air and that felt uncomfortable because then it felt like we were exposed. Looking out the window where the a/c unit was, there was junk stored on the side. So that was weird. The other guests were nice. And we really liked the cook. We probably won't do another b&b. But that's ok. There are plenty of other places to try.
