Wonderful Spanish countryside hotel
Lovely hotel in the Costa Brava countryside. We had a room with a stunning view of the local mountains. Each day started with a gourmet breakfast included with the room. Each afternoon we spent at least an hour in the spa with hot/cold saunas, spray showers that massage your body, spray jets of various types in the pool to massage you, and heated ceramic beds to lay on. We concluded our day with a gourmet dinner at the hotel served in a glass room so that we could enjoy the views and setting sun. We spent our days visiting the local museums, medieval towns and beaches. Would highly recommend this beautiful spot.

Fantastic hotel
We had a fantastic stay at the Mas Tapiolas hotel, and couldn't recommend it enough. We went for a few days to relax, and really enjoyed our stay. The staff was very friendly and efficient, and really did all they could to make us comfortable. The restaurant is amazing, the pool is large, the spa has many options... All in all a wonderful place to stay!

Great hotel would return, main restaurant lovely pool great only thing to pick at is the snack bar doesn’t have enough options, why not have Pitta breads dips etc. Burger or club sandwich is not enough

It is a nice hotel. Try to book in the new area. I stayed at the "Masia" and the room was old styled. Breakfast with many options. The pool area is very nive too.

The hotel and grounds were beautiful. Staff were very welcoming when we arrived quite late for check-in, and offered very helpful advice on nearby points of interest. Breakfast was wonderful.

Wonderful hotel
Wonderful hotel set in the hillside with great views of the mountains, a superb spa and outdoor pool. This is a great base from which to explore the coast and the interior. Only10km from the sea and 30 mins drive to Girona. Nothing to complain about here!

Tranquil and relaxing with beautiful views
The hotel is on a hill surrounded by forested mountains and farmland. The location away from a main road ensures the noises of birds and nearby cows are the only thing to hear - it's a beautiful place to unwind and properly relax. The size of the hotel is perfect: it is small enough to ensure that there is space at the outdoor pool (~20 metres) on a hot day. The (free) spa - with sauna, steam room and indoor pool - is a good option if the weather lets you down. There are many facilities such as bike rental, golf etc. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable - with either balcony or a garden and with outdoor furniture. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The breakfast buffet was great - with a lot of tasty choice and many nice things to try. The restaurant did not have much choice in the evening, but there are some wonderful restaurants within 2-3 miles, along with many others further out or along the coast. We spent much of the time enjoying the hotel and sun - but when we did drag ourselves away, the location was a good base for us to explore the area - Girona, the nearby beaches and fishing villages. There is fast road to Barcelona, Girona and the beaches about 1 mile away - but which can neither be seen nor heard.

Last day away after visiting Barcelona for my daughter's wedding and returning from Gerona. Hotel far exceeded my expectations. Provided you have a car I would highly recommend it.

Resort feel for a great price
Centrally located in the Costa Brava region. Beautiful grounds, very nice rooms and great views of the Santa Cristina church and surrounding mountains. They have a very nicely maintained Pitch and Putt course (18 holes all less than 100mts/yds) which we played twice for 18€ each. The spa is fantastic! We spent almost every night there after returning from our adventures. Close to everything we wanted to do (no more than 30 min drive to Girona, Begur, PGA Catalunya and other great golf courses in the region. Complimentary breakfast in the morning was always fresh and delicious offering a mix of fruit, breads, cereal, eggs, potatoes, sliced meats/cheese plus 3 different juices and fresh cafe machines. Highly recommend if you're looking for a resort feel without the resort price. Completely exceeded our expectations and the staff was always very courteous and helpful.

A place to relax
The hotel is in a quiet rural location, but close to highways that can whisk you to Gerona and other places of interest an hour or so away, and many back roads to charming villages and beach towns. But who wants to leave, since the spa is wonderful (and free), the food is excellent, and there are man walks and bicycle rides just outside the hotel grounds. I look forward to a return stay. Am currently in Tuscany, and wishing I'd stayed longer in this location.

Everything about this hotel is great the setting, the room and balcony, especially all the staff, the food, the spa, the service, the total help when needed all were totally and without doubt extremely 1st class.

A great country stay.
Once you finally find this hotel it is in a beautiful setting in the countryside. We had a family room which was big with a great view and balcony. The pool area is nice with plenty of sun loungers. The highlight was the breakfast with an amazing choice of food, both cold and hot dishes. I would definitely recommend this hotel to people wanting to explore this area and not stay in the busy resorts on the coast.

Great Hotel, very relaxing
We have just returned from a very enjoyable 7 nights at this hotel. We expected the hotel to be good but it surpassed our expectations. The staff were friendly, helpful and courteous at all times. Reception staff were great and they spoke very good English. Breakfast was great, lots to choose from and although we did not eat in the restaurant every night, as we like to try other restaurants, the two nights and one lunchtime we did, we had fantastic food. We liked the room layout, perfect for us with a teenage daughter as she in effect had her own room but we were not paying an extortionate rate for an additional room. When entering the room there are two single beds then through a door there is then a large room where there was a large King Size (or bigger)bed for my husband and me. We then had patio doors onto our own patio and private garden. We thought that this hotel was good value for Money. Tennis was free and my husband and daughter used this facility most days. The pool was lovely, and the garden and surrounding are was kept clean and well maintained. We used the Spa nearly every day and to have this facility available all the time was fantastic. One of the lovely things I particularly liked about this hotel was the number of seating areas throughout the grounds, something for everyone. The views were great too. I think most people were only staying for a few days but we certainly felt that staying for seven nights recharged our batteries.

BEAUTIFUL POSITION
We had a wonderful 5 days. The only gripe was that we could have done with a mat in the bath for when we used the shower. Additionally whilst most of the staff were wonderfully polite and helpful there was one waitress who appeared at breakfast who could have smiled a little more and not been quite so grumpy first thing in the morning!!

Great staff, super helpful. Nice room, though the shower door was damaged so every shower would spill a ton of water in the bathroom. Restaurant is excellent though slightly overpriced. Really easy to rent bicycles and go around the surrounding country side. The spa is also very nice.

Fantastic hotel but difficult to find
The hotel and service were just fantastic and the views over the surrounding countryside were amazing. The hotel is set in beautiful woodland. However, despite its proximity to the main autoroute to the coast, it was very difficult to find, particularly at night when everywhere was in darkness.

Great hotel in a stunning, secluded location.
This is a picture postcard hotel with great views of the surrounding countryside. The staff were very welcoming and always helpful. The food in the restaurant is rightly rated as some of the best in the area and the buffet breakfast had a good variety of options. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The ground floor rooms have their own private lawn area. The pool, sauna and fitness facilities were all very good. We will be going back next year!

Excellent all round.
Absolutely superb. Wonderful location, stunning views, peaceful. All we needed for a relaxing holiday. Couldn't fault it. Spotlessly clean, excellent food and drink, great pool; delightfully pleasant, uniformly helpful and friendly service. A little remote, so car necessary for those needing to go on outings - we didn't ! - but taxi service available. Recommended without reservation.

Hit n miss in a nice location
Surrounded by luscious countryside you can't fault the location of the Mas Tapiolas. With outdoor swimming pool, free spa for guests and a pleasant restaurant there are good facilities at the hotel, however its the hit and miss service and the room we stayed in which unfortunately let it down. Basics such as not being able to provide an iron and no Wi-Fi access in our room was disappointing. The room itself was in the old building above reception and although clean had a dark and slightly dingy feel as the windows were tiny and coupled with the dark furniture meant very little light was allowed in. Also in the bathroom the shower head needed replacing as it was old, well used and had jets spurting off all over the place. I would recommend staying in the larger and more modern part of the hotel which have large patio doors and balcony. Although if you're a fan of more colonial style lodgings then the rooms above reception may well be to your taste. Overall a pleasant stay in a lovely location but a little disappointed as the outstanding reviews we read beforehand gave us higher expectations.

Located in hills in beautiful quiet location. Breakfast buffet the garden is lovely. Menu of the day of high quality and good value. Staff very polite and friendly. Standard rooms are north facing and overlook function suit which can be noisy if a party is booked. When rooms are cleaned trays can be left in the corridor for a long time looking rather untidy. As is isolated a car is a good idea. Hotel also has a spa and a small fitness suit both of which looked resonable. I would certainly return when I next visit the area.

Superb Hotel
What a beautiful hotel, we couldn't have asked for more. It is quite remote, but we were expecting that from the reviews we had read and for us it was perfect. The staff were lovely, from the ladies in housekeeping to the reception staff and the waiting staff, they were all very pleasant and helpful. We asked a lady on reception if she could recommend some places for us to visit and she marked several of her favourites on the map for us. We visited all of them and they were beautiful. We hadn't realised Spain was so lovely.The food in the restaurant was excellent. It was a little expensive, but you pay for quality and it was worth it. Our room, which was lovely was on the ground floor (105). Outside we had a small patio with table and chairs and sunloungers and a small lawn. We overlooked the hotel's lovely gardens with a water feature which had a small bridge over and beyond the grounds were stunning views of the valley and hills beyond. Well, I say stunning views and they were, if you were in a room which wasn't on the ground floor, because all the ground floor rooms were 'boxed in' on three sides by five foot high conifers! Why block out such lovely scenery? It may be for guests privacy, but personally, I would choose to sit and look at the beautiful scenery every time, rather than be surrounded by conifers. This was the only fault of an otherwise perfect hotel. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay a very pleasant one.

Countryside delight
After five days in Barcelona we headed up to the Costa Brava area and were delighted with the Salles Hotel Mas Tapiolas. We liked the location as it was quiet and low key and only 10 minutes to the coast. It was midway between Barcelona and the northern area ot Cap de Cue, so it was truly a perfect setting. The staff was superb and the restaraunt was excellent. The best part of the hotel is their spa- indoor pool. After a long day of walking and hiking, this pool was amazing, along with the sauna and steam room. The outdoor pool looked beautiful as well but was off season for us. The night ended with sounds of cows mooing and bullfrogs croaking - a true countryside delight!
