Comfortable, clean, convenient, and friendlyPosted Dec 27, 2017
I had an excellent time staying here. Check in was smooth and easy, with an unexpected upgrade for my room. Desk staff was always friendly and helpful, like when I needed to borrow a corkscrew, or if I needed directions, or help understanding my Venezia Unica pass. My room was clean and comfortable, and quite large. Breakfast was a full breakfast, with attentive staff who kept all of the food dishes full, clean, and orderly. Convenience could not have been better, right next to the San Stae vaporetto stop. If you arrive by vaporetto or Alilaguna, face the church San Star, and cross the small bridge on your left. Walk a few steps, take the first left, and the hotel will on your left.

On the Grand Canal but away from the crowdsPosted Oct 6, 2017
Pros: Central but quiet location, very helpful staff, lots of choices for breakfast, grand architecture
Cons: The bed and pillows are uncomfortably hard. There was no elevator to our third floor room.
Location: On the Grand Canal adjacent to the San Stae water bus stop. Several very good restaurants nearby. San Giacomo dell'Orio square is a short walk.
We stayed five nights in mid-September and really enjoyed our time in Venice. The staff at Palazzo Giovanelli were very helpful. The hotel is in a quiet location but it's an easy walk to the Rialto Bridge and San Marco Square (the latter being flooded one time we tried to go there). We found several excellent nearby restaurants and enjoyed nearby San Giacomo dell'Orio square. Had an excellent tour with Isabella through Tour by Locals.

Stay here when you go to Venice!Posted Jun 30, 2017
This was the best hotel of our two week adventure through Italy! The room was great with a full american shower in marble and very clean! The hotel staff was so helpful and arranged a trip to Murano, our dinner reservations and our taxi's (including a one hour personal tour). The hotel is right next to a public boat service on the grand canal so it easy to use that for getting around. We walked quite a bit to see everything but it is useful when you get tired! Great location, staff and room!
