Nice hotel close to beach boardwalk, restaurants..

Posted Apr 24, 2017
Pros: Everything is awesome...amazing views...real close to everything....beach, bar, restaurants, boardwalk...
Cons: Don't surprise guests with hidden costs....parking, resort tax..etc.
Location: Beach boardwalk, restaurants, bars, beach, pool, yoga....
The stay was amazing....I did not like the fact that they add $37 per night for some sort of resort tax..and.the $25 per night parking...that was an unpleasant surprise...but the room, staff and location are amazing..but probably my last time staying there. $900 for two nights is ...too rich for my blood

location make it still worth it

Cons: cleanliness
Stayed many times at this hotel. Recent remodel but nothing really upgraded. Pool decking and new pool bar nice additions. The new hot tub was also an improvement. Rooms appeared exactly the same with new wall paper. I rated the hotel marginal as it seemed very dirty. A strong vomit smell permeated the corridors outside of the pool rooms. Bird droppings on the tile decking needs to be attended to. I would recommend to a friend simply because of the location. There is not another hotel in Santa Cruz directly on the beach.

Great hotel right on the beach

Posted Apr 10, 2017
This is the 3rd time we have stayed here. We really like this hotel since it's right on the beach and walking distance to the boardwalk. This last time, we took advantage of the bikes they have for guests - they are free of charge! The room was spotless and modern- looking and all rooms come with a mini fridge. The staff is very friendly and we just love staying here. It's a little pricey -but it's totally worth it!

Location and personnel made the trip

Posted Apr 5, 2017
From check-in past check-out the entire staff were very helpful and friendly. The valet team, bartenders at the restaurant and lounge and everyone else always seemed happy to have you there. Can't beat the location either. Ask about free bike rentals too. Looking forward to the return trip.

Two Star Hotel

Posted Mar 28, 2017
Pros: The housekeeping staff is so sweet and nice. Their smile brightened my whole trip. Dustin at the front desk was sincere.
Cons: The front desk staff needs to treat people as human beings and with respect. If I was a secret shopper this hotel would be given 2 stars at most.
I booked a suite with two queen beds through Expedia. After checking in I went to the room and I noticed it was a small room with one bed. This room was definitely not a suite! So I called the front desk to ask what happened to the suite with two queen beds I booked. They told me I got the last room in the hotel and was unable to move me to the suite I reserved. The front desk agent was very sweet and told me that all she could offer was a $25 credit or I could talk with a manager. I wanted to talk to the manager. The manager it turns out is the person that checked me in. So My question and frustration is this: How does a Hotel Manager check-in a guest to a standard room when the guest bought a suite and not say anything about it at check-in? This was extremely rude. This was a situation where I was taken full advantage of and down right exploited! I paid for a suite and no one was going to tell me that I got a standard room. So after I confronted the manager on the situation she offered me a resort credit difference between the suite and standard room. If I wanted to pay for a standard room I would have gone somewhere else. The hotel staff did the minimum they could do in finding a resolution. They did not try to make my stay memorable. This past stay was difficult and I am not sure if I will ever return. If I was a secret shopper this hotel would be given 2 stars at most.
