Nicest place I have ever stayed

Posted May 3, 2017
Pros: Almost everything. Decor, layout, cleanliness, location downtown and within walking distance with many shops and museums.
Cons: Not much
Location: Downtown, walking distance too many restaurants, shops, local sites and museums to describe here.
If you prefer a straight no frills, stay in a ones size fits all hotel/motel, this B&B is not for you. The rooms are in adobe buildings that are about 150 years old. They have been modernized and upgraded while maintaining their character. The owners of this motel made a lovely place to stay. I was blown away when I was shown the room by the manager. Yes we were given a short tour and escorted to our room, not told where the elevator was and what floor we were on. Most motel/hotels have the personality of a cement block, this B&B is a colorful piece of Mexican Pottery. Exposed beams that may be 150 years old in a whitewashed ceiling, colorful spread on the bed, hand picked decorations on the walls, furniture that is both functional and has character. A kitchen area with a microwave and small fridge. A tight but functional bathroom with a mosaic bathtub. A walk in closet for your clothes and luggage. My wife was at first overwhelmed by the room as she had expected a “normal” motel room. The breakfast bar starts at 8AM. Sit, eat and talk at one of the community tables, or have a private breakfast at one of the smaller tables. The choices of pastries, bagels, fruit and juices is generous and the coffee is excellent. This is the first time I have ever seen tamales as part of a breakfast bar. Both my wife and myself are going to miss them tomorrow when I have my morning coffee and breakfast. I would rate my stay as 10 stars . And I will return someday.

Thank you Vernon- we take this as a huge compliment as when you and your wife arrived, it was a little "iffy" if you'd enjoy our accomodations. We offer a unqiue opportunity for travelers to surround themselves in history- Santa Fe is over 400 yrs old and the culture, streets, buildings, hospitality all have a unique flavor- that's why we're nicknamed "The City Different". After unwinding from your long drive, and allowing us to treat you warmly, your wife seemed more comfortable and you both evidently had a great time! So glad to know this and thank you for sharing your experience with potential guests. Travelers desiring a authentic, traditional Old Santa Fe experience will absolutely love our inn- others who prefer modern construction may not be so "sold" on our accommodations. That's why we have so many photos, testimonials, and staff that actually answer the phones!!! Again, thank you and we invite you to return to us anytime- you're always welcome at Pueblo Bonito b&b inn.

Easy walk to downtown and all the downtown attractions. The hotel staff are wonderful and very friendly. The breakfast is a great way to start the day - great food and plenty of it. Our room was very comfortable.

Boutique but overpriced.

Posted Mar 31, 2017
Pros: The owners were very courteous, the room was clean.
Cons: Real cups for guests to have a coffee or tea and a coffee maker that delivers "hot" water. Was not prepared to put polystyrene cup in microwave toxins
Location: Good in town location and within walking distance to plaza etc.
Courteous owners, nice breakfast, inefficient heater in room, with option of 3.5 hour open wood fire for an extra cost of $15 which I felt was gouging the guests wallet. Coffee maker did not deliver boiling water so tepid cup of tea in polystyrene cups was the only option. I expected at least ceramic mugs and hot water on such a cold night and not having to pay extra to keep warm for the nightly tariff.

Thank you Ken. So glad you appreciated our convenient downtown location and courteous staff/owners. I'd like to clarify a point however. We provide welcome drinks all day for our arriving and staying guests which consist of hot teas, coffee and ice water. Cups provided are for "to go" as this is the intent for our guests to grab a goodie (cookies later in the afternoon) sit inside, outside or take back to room, etc. On the shelving located next to this service are stacked ceramic cups, bowls, juice glasses and more! If guest prefer a ceramic cup, they are easily accessible- we're sorry you didn't take advantage of this provision. We'd hope that in the future, you might ask us what your needs are, as we can easily meet most of our guests requests if we know about them. We do charge for the use of real wood fireplaces as rooms are rated without this. Rather than charging for parking, we feel this is a fare charge as it's optional for guests to use our in room kiva fireplaces! All rooms have temperature controls in room so guests can decide how hot/cool their room should be.

Bed and breakfast right in the city center

Posted Mar 22, 2017
Great location. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. The room was clean, comfortable and adorable. Herb and Amy made you feel at home and went out of their way to make sure you had what you needed. The only negative was the parking but it's to be expected in a downtown area.

Thank you Angela for your comments. Glad to know your appreciation for our location, room, décor and hospitality. Our whole staff takes a personal interest in our guests and we're glad to know you allowed us to serve you- making your stay a 5 star experience! Parking in downtown as you refer, is extremely limited and we are glad to be able to provide all our guests (19 rooms total) a convenient on site parking spot free of charge! We hope to see you again soon on a return visit to Santa Fe and Pueblo Bonito bed and breakfast inn.

beautiful building with real Spanish style

Posted Mar 12, 2017
Pros: The ambiance and style, and the location.
Our room was a casita with a separate bedroom, a kitchen, a living room with a kiva fireplace and a bathroom. It was a lovely place to spend a week while we explored Santa Fe. It was within walking distance of the city square. The staff were friendly and helpful. The morning breakfast was very good. I would definitely recommend it to anybody.

Nice b&b not far from downtown Santa Fe

Posted Mar 6, 2017
This bed and breakfast was very good. Plenty of parking. Great breakfast, especially excellent green chile chicken soup/stew. Room was comfortable, although bathroom was tiny. Unexpected charge for fireplace that did not use, but charged for it even though said would not used. Had to insist that charge be taken off. Should have been no charge unless used.

Thank you for your feedback. We are appreciative to know you enjoyed our convenient free parking on site as well as our breakfast offering. The green chile stew is a popular item at breakfast- so glad you found it excellent! Yes, our bathrooms are small. Each of our 18 private guest rooms have a private bath which is encased by two foot thick mud brick (adobe), a mosaic tiled tub and shower combination, hand formed nicho vanity/sink and of course a toilet! Most of our rooms also offer an out of the bathroom vanity to provide for extra space- we hope you took advantage of this amenity. Also, to clarify- each room has a real wood burning kiva fireplace which we set up prior to each guests arrival. If guests would like to add this unique local experience of a real wood kiva fireplace burn to their stay, they are welcome to! It is not free however as explained in your confirmation under our policies "Fireplace and Usage". Upon check in guests receive a summary statement which discloses the number nights stay, nightly rate, taxes as well as the additional cost of fireplace usage if they so desire to use. No charges are made at check in- there is a hold placed on a guests card however. Upon check out, guests shown all charges incurred and asked specifically if they used their fireplace and if they do (or if they do not) final charges are calculated correctly and sent through. Never have would we charge a guest for something they did not incur. Always, we make a point to go over a guests bill with them individually and personally twice- at check in and check out. I do hope this information is clearer to you now and we encourage you to ask any questions of us while you're with us- we will always do our best to help. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you and we hope you would return on a future visit!

Pros: The staff was friendly.
Cons: Change the bed!
Location: Lots of restaurants nearby. Ugly neighborhood.
The noisiest bed EVER. Close to the street with traffic, noisy.

We are very disappointed to know of your extreme dissatisfaction. We encourage you to contact us directly to enable us to address any necessary issues. I see you state "the bed" but it would be helpful to know which room you had issues with as we have 19. We have had no complaints of "noisy bed" so your assistance would be appreciated. As far as the "ugly" neighborhood.... well we are in a prime downtown historic district boarded by three 1900 conductors homes (one story made of red brick) that exude a more Midwestern charm. There are two other b&b's next to us that are different in architecture than us- we date back to 1860 with a massive adobe pueblo-style; one is close in age to the engineers homes next door to it, and the third is a more modern version of Edwardian home- both very aesthetically pleasing. We're sorry for your disappointment as Santa Fe is the oldest capitol in the USA- dates back to 1600's and exudes historic authenticity. Possibly the "old" was not to your taste? We apologize for this as we know we and Santa Fe don't please all travelers, but we appreciate the courtesy given to us by trying us! Our best to you and yours and we'd hope that on a future visit, you might give one of the other many new chain hotels a try which might be more to your preferences. Sincerely,

Thank you Cynthia! We're glad you appreciate the authentic preservation and offerings we provide here at Pueblo Bonito b&b as well as the 400 years of history Santa Fe offers travelers today. Such a unique destination boasting the Native American, Hispanic and Anglo cultures of yesteryear and today! I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself- it brings us great satisfaction to know we assisted in making your vacation get away memorable and as your describe "Loved it"! We invite you to return to us anytime as we have so much more to share with you- day trips to pueblos, national parks, hiking, etc; downtown world class museum exhibits (Native American art and culture, Folk Art, History, etc); special events, music, food and preserved culture which you see just walking the streets of Santa Fe! Until then- best regards:
