Amazing
I originally booked a double room but found it dark, so I upgraded to the Grand Suite. It was a good call. The view was beyond gorgeous. The staff is exceptional. They do everything with a smile, and no request is too small. One note, this place is not for anyone with mobility issues. There are many stairs and very steep inclines. The restaurant is exceptional. It's more expensive than most places in Zipolite but still a bargain for the quality. The location is ideal. Everything is within a 15-minute walk.

Overall I had a great experience at El Alquimista. The room was clean and had plenty of ventilation, the restaurant was good, drinks were strong, and it was still very affordable! Situated on the west side of the beach, you can walk to Playa del Amor in about 15/20 minutes.

It was hit by a hurricane a few weeks before we arrived. We were assured by the receptionist that it was okay and everything was supposed to be fine, But upon arrival to our room the AC did not work (until a specialist came the next day), The shower was lukewarm at best and there was no WIFI. The room that i paid for was destroyed by the hurricane so we got another room that was nice but had no mosquito net so we slept with a bunch of bugs in bed. And when i told about my experience to the receptionist she said that she can't compensate me so she just gave us a discount at the hotel restaurant which is extremely pricy and the food is ok at best and just plain bland most of the time. An experience that leaves a lot to be desired which is a shame because the hotel itself and the rooms are beautiful.

Not the best place in Zipolite
There were a lot of insects in the room all the time. No hot water and no phone to call the front desk. A little walk in to order to ask for any service. No swimming beach at all.
