Nice 4 star hotel very close to train station

Posted Oct 15, 2017
Pros: Walk distance to station. Huge bedroom and bathroom
Location: Supermarket just round the corner
Our activities in Florence this time circle around train station and we saw good review about this hotel on Expedia hence chose it. We were not disappointed. The hotel is walking distance from train station. Check in is very smooth staff is very friendly. Our rate included breakfast. The buffet breakfast is nice with plenty of choices. We like the cold cuts and breads. The breakfast room can be quiet busy in the mornings. Room itself we felt it's similar ambiance as The Ritz in London, and the bathroom is much more spacious. Only the Ritz has more amenities. Our two night stay were comfortable and enjoyable.

Lovely Decor, Quiet yet close to everything

Posted Oct 11, 2017
Pros: Decor, Location
Cons: WIFI - never got it to work. Would have given it 5 stars except for the WIFI.
Location: walk to the historic center in minutes
I stayed at this hotel seven years ago and loved it. I loved it just as much the 2nd time around. The decor of the rooms and public spaces are very nice. The breakfast is good, that staff is pleasant and helpful. Although the hotel is on a quiet street, it's only 5 minute walk to the Train Station and nearby restaurants. The only draw back is the awful WIFI.

Good, solid 4 star steps from SMN

Posted Oct 9, 2017
Pros: Service and upgrade
Cons: The hotel will deliver drinks to a comfortable lounge off the reception area, but it needs a bar.
Very convenient location to SMN. Offered an upgrade at check in without us asking. Very helpful front desk when we had some wifi issues. Doorman, Juan, very engaging and helpful. Breakfast was the usual buffet, a little overrun by a large tour which was eating early and leaving the same time we were. The room was good sized by euro standards with a very comfortable outside deck and chair/table. Steps to SMN, close to SL, 5 minutes to SM, Duomo, Campanile, etc., 15 to Ponte Vecchio/Oltrarno.

Good location, close to train station

Posted Oct 8, 2017
Not very impressed and would rate this as just average. The breakfast was good, food service staff nice, Juan (doorman) was very nice, and room was clean. The front desk staff were not helpful, mattress was like a rock, and our maid only made our bed and gave us fresh towels and left dirty cups on the table and didn't refill any of the coffee nor toiletries. We had reserved a room with twin beds but got a king bed instead. Front desk staff told us that they had king in their reservation even though I showed them the confirmation email that said twin. Didn't matter because they quickly countered that rooms were full and told us we could try to switch rooms the next day. Their lack of effort was impressive

Reasonable place close to the attractions

Posted Oct 7, 2017
After getting down at Florence SMN Railway station I was at the end of a long taxi queue. On checking "Here Maps" I found that the hotel was very close and so walked there. It was a typical old style European hotel with very pleasant and welcoming staff. Interiors were good. The room was very spacious and quiet. The electrical switches were very confusing with some of them working as master switches and as they were not clearly marked I never got the hang of it in 3 days. The bathroom was big with a tub and bidet. There was no patch on the door, and it looked like it never had one, which may be a privacy issue if traveling with kids (not sure if this is an Italian feature as my hotel in Rome also lacked a bathroom door latch) . Another issue I had in common with all hotels in Italy was that the bed was too short and springy for my liking. This again may be a problem if you have a bad back. The breakfast buffet was good, but grew monotonous after 3 days of the same stuff. The staff were excellent and I'd highly recommend all of them. Major attractions like Uffizi museum, Accademia & Duomo are within walking distance

Convenient to Trains and City Center

Posted Oct 4, 2017
Easily reached from the train station, on a quiet, flat luggage-worthy street one block over. The trade-off is an extra block walk to the city center, but not significant. Easy check-in with an always-welcoming and efficient staff, and everyone we ran across spoke English. The room was spacious with a mini-bar large enough to hold your personal extras. The included breakfast was excellent with a wide range of food and an attentive and friendly staff. Only negatives were the low volume shower head and the need for a luggage ramp at their entrance.

Small and Dirty

Posted Oct 3, 2017
Pros: Close to train station and major attractions.
Cons: A complete overhaul of the hotel and staff.
Location: Close to train station and major attractions
Hotel staff are unfriendly from check-in onwards. The Room was extremely small and bathroom was dirty.. mould everywhere.. There is no fan in the room either. Room is definitely dated. There were no power outlets near the bed. Had to request an extension cord to plug our cell phones and other devices. Although they mentioned breakfast was included, we only had coffee and even that tasted like an Instant coffee (not freshly made). We were herded to room which was freezing and the servers never mentioned once where we could get our breakfast from. We ended up simply walking out. The bed was very uncomfortable. Only thing going for it is that it's close to the train station and attractions.. Other than that, definitely recommend steering clear of this tragic hotel!
