Excellent location

Posted Aug 11, 2017
Pros: The size of the room and bedding comfort.
Cons: The hotel is aging, but the staff seem to be taking maintenance seriously.
The friendly, efficient staff welcomed us upon our arrival and were very courteous when we checked out. The hotel's excellent location is within easy walking distance of most shopping and tourist locations in Solvang.

Rooms are nice and spacious. The building is getting a little old and it needs a few more parking spaces.

It was our 3rd visit to Svensgaard. Love the location. Nice people behind the front desk. Glad to have Danish pastries for breakfast. After all, it IS a Danish town! We'll be going back again in a few months.

friendly and helpful

Posted May 10, 2017 on Orbitz
Pros: see above
Cons: nothing
Location: Right on the spot - Bookstore with the Andersen museum across the street, all stores within a walking distance.
this is a "retro" hotel that still has keys (I hate those cards that get lost all the time!). Clean and tastefully designed without pretenses on "glamour". Staff is friendly and helpful, so you feel at home. Danish pastries in the morning are excellent! Location is wonderful - on the corner of two main streets and with a wonderful view. I will return and will definitely recommend it to my friends.

Very Danish

Posted May 9, 2017
Pros: This hotel was well located to walk almost anywhere. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Cons: Updating is probably an ongoing thing, as we noticed old carpet being taken out.
Location: Bakeries and restaurants close early, so plan ahead. We went to their farmer's market, which was small, but fun.
This hotel is an old building, but we knew that. That's part of the whole picture. Solvang is a great little friendly town. The old buildings and traditions are the reason to visit. There are several bakeries and some restaurants that serve traditional food. We'll be back.
