A nice place to stay
The hotel is close to the beach and an easy walk to the main town centre. The room was spacious and clean. The walls are quite thin, so you can hear voices from the neighbouring rooms but it wasn't too much of a disturbance. The bed was super comfortable and i enjoyed a great night sleep. There was a nice selection at breakfast, all continental - no hot food but the croissants were amazing!! The only down side was nobody at reception spoke any English, fortunately we were travelling with someone who spoke spanish otherwise it may have been a little difficult

The hotel is very well situated, close to the seafront and an excellent beach. The staff are all very friendly and efficient. I very much appreciated the secure car park which is just across the street from the hotel. The only disappointment with our stay is that the lack of public toilets in the area resulted in a bad smell throughout the seafront area. This is, of course, not the fault of the hotel.

A little disappointing for that price
I know the city well and I know the hotel can charge those prices because of limited availability of options during the summer, but still it was disappointing to check into the room and see very obviously the cleaning was subpar (make up stains in the sink and hairs in the bathtub) and the amenities are so low standard. At that price, they could have some complimentary real coffee in the room and not nescafe and definitely I would have expected a real hair dryer and iron in the room. Aside from that, good location and correct room

Delightful hotel in a great setting
We passed through on our way to Bilbao, and had a great half day on the beach, (great place to swim) and evening wandering around the town. The hotel had great views over the bay, parking was easy and the evening meal delicious. Highly recommend corner of loveliness

A poor check in process. Miserable staff sat some distance from the desk Then the room was not ready when we got to it. Told to leave our bags and come back later. We had urgent e-mails to deal with and had to do this down in reception. No apology

The hotel is right across the street from the boardwalk and the beach. It is located at the opposite end of the boardwalk from the harbor, lighthouse and church, which gave us many opportunities to stroll the boardwalk and relax. The staff was most helpful.

Lovely hotel. Stayed for 2 nights prior to getting ferry from Bilboa. Room very spacious. Sea view. Kettle in room.Had dinner in hotel and it was excellent. 20 mins to ferry. Very pleasant seaside town. Would stay again.

Some staff chose to ignore us, or became angry if we spoke poor Spanish. Otherwise the room is clean and spacious, and the complimentary breakfast is wonderful. The property is 50 m from the beach.

Beautiful room comfortable beds and modern ensuite bathroom. Fridge in room stocked up daily with water and bottles of orange. Only negative was breakfast expensive so walked on sea front to one of many cafeteria's were Spanish breakfast for 2 was cheaper than hotel breakfast for 1. Garage parking available but plenty of parking in front of hotel.

A good quality hotel in seaside resort
The hotel was just right for us as we needed to take a ferry the next morning and it’s a 30 minute drive away. From our room we could see and hear the sea.

Las Rocas The Best location,food and service!!
The Hotel Sarcotel Las Rocas is located just in front of the beach in Castro Rubiales . With an excellent service and very clean room it is is the best horel to stay in such beautiful place. The breakfast was delicious, the room has a lot of space and the hotel provide the bikes to ride throu the beach from side walk.

Comfortable and perfect location for ferries.
Handy location for 2 nights prior to getting ferry from Santander to Portsmouth. Reception staff and waiters were very helpful and friendly. Our room was very clean, quiet and comfortable with a large bathroom and we were on the top floor with a lovely view of the sea. An added bonus was secure garage parking. We were happy with the quiet location, slightly out of the main town, and the old part of the town, with restaurants and bars, was a 15 - 20 minutes stroll along the beach promenade. The breakfast buffet selection was good - especially the do-it-yourself orange juice machine with tumbling oranges! Very highly recommend and would definitely book here again on our next trip.

Convenient for the Bilbao Ferry Port
This was a one-night stay, as we were catching the ferry to Portsmouth in the morning. Castro Urdiales is a nice little town, with a small beach and promenade. The hotel room was large and comfortable, with lots of hot water. We had our dog with us and had requested a dog-friendly room, but the confirmation email did not include this. When I phoned to check, I was told that they only accepted dogs up to 12kg. The booking process had not mentioned this, however when I told them the dog is a Labrador, they were fine about it. I had to sign an agreement about the dog, but it was all reasonable, like not barking or going on the bed. It only took around 20 minutes to get to the Ferry Port and it was well signposted. I would definitely use this hotel again.

Very clean and comfortable with all the facilities you could wish for. But a little on the sterile side for my taste. Not as dog friendly as I would like. The lady in the bar was absolutely delightful and went out of her way to help me with breakfast.

Great Hotel and Location
Excellent hotel in a very good location to visit Castro Urdiales and for the Bilbao Ferry. We only stayed for one night but we have visited before. The room was very comfortable and warm and the reception staff were excellent. We did not have dinner but did have breakfast which was very good. We will certainly stay again when we are next in the area.

Hotel overcharged me for my stay
The hotel itself is ok, but they forced me to pay two nights for the reservation even though I changed it to one night within the penalty time-frame allowed. They pretended that they did not get my reservation change in their records. I do not like dishonest people and will not stay there again.

Real Spain Experience.
We chose this hotel at random because we wanted a pet friendly hotel, and would 100% go back. Castro Urdiales was a gem, a small town bursting with character. Great value for money bars with real Spanish tapas on offer everywhere. Dancing in the town square, salsa on the streets. If you want real Spain, this is it. The breakfast we had was top quality with lots of choice. Well worth a visit.
