Staff members are friendly and helpful. There is a bar on the property which occasionally gives out free pisco sour. The room is not spacious, and there aren't a lot of amenities, but it is what you'd expect from a hostel. The location is good, being close to a Metro station and several dining options. Overall the experience is pleasant.

Nice hostel
Nice place, cute decor. The first time we stayed, we had a room to the side of the building courtyard and it was very quiet. This time, we had a room directly over the courtyard and the music from the bar was very loud.

Thanks so much for your review! Sorry your second stay had some noise issues. We have the noise limit at midnight, but understand sometimes it isn't enough if people have early flights.

Short stay in Santiago
A friend and I stayed at Hostal Providencia for 4 nights as part of a trip around south America and I can thoroughly recommend it. It is a lively hostel around 15mins walk from some of the key tourist spots in Santiago through perfectly safe areas. There is a very good free buffet breakfast and usually something going on in the bar area in the evenings, though we were taking drinks out to the quieter garden/yard area. You're not allowed to bring your own drinks in, but the prices in the bar are very reasonable (6000 Pesos for a bottle of wine, I think). The reception staff are very helpful and can book taxis (agreed rates for things like airport transfers), suggest places to visit and during the day a rep is available to book tours, excursions etc. with a number of tour operators. My friend and I shared a private twin room with a shared bathroom at the end of the hall. The bedroom was fine, plenty of space and quiet at night (I'm not sure how noise didn't travel up from the bar, but it didn't) and there was always at least one bathroom free when we needed them. If/when I ever come back to Santiago I would happily stay here again.

location is good being a short walk from a metro station and the main nightlife area, in fact the main areas of santiago can be reached by foot from here. the hostel staff were great, there was always a clean bathroom free, the room was spacious enough. entrance/exit from the hostel seemed secure. there is a nice chillout area to have drinks in during the evening.they also provide tours, the one I did was reasonably priced and in a small group so felt like good value for money.

Travellers freindly hostel
This place is one of the best. They manage the hostel in a customer-center way. Staff are friendly and helpful. They even have a staff to organize local tours. Breakfast is wonderful, with lots of different fruits to choose. Kitchen is well equiped for self catering. Dorm rooms are spacious and ventilation is enough even when the room is full. Every bed is equipped with socket and light which is good for charging gadgets.

A good location near to the metro and attractions, the breakfast was good and rooms clean. If a hostel is what you are looking for then this is fine. We stayed in a private room so cannot comment on shared accommodation conditions.

I stayed at Hostal Providencia after examining MANY different options in just a few weeks ago. I checked in late, and after emailing the hostal a few times to tell them about this, I found using their "whats app" the best option. The check in was easy, and the place was actually rather quiet during this time (1 am...always a curiosity when staying at a hostal). The place is gigantic, which is super helpful when trying to organize those who want to sleep from those who do not. I stayed in a private room which was lovely, with a bathroom across. My only challenge was that there was a part of the floor missing outside my room. The staff did put a rug over it later on to accommodate those who might trip. Breakfast had cereal, some fruit, coffee, juice, and bread. The location was prime, and it really couldn't be beat. I was about 5 minutes from a subway, and central for all my walking excursions. All in all I was actually quite pleased for my first "hostal" experience. Totally worth it.

Clean and comfortable
We stayed in a twin room at Hostal Providencia for 1 night in October. The customer service was excellent - we were given a full introduction and tour of the hostel when we arrived. Apparently it is the largest hostel in Chile and the second largest in South America! As we were only stopping over for 1 night prior to leaving Chile, we were just wanting a good night's sleep. Due to its size, we were a little concerned that it would be noisy, however we both slept very well and enjoyed the complimentary breakfast the next morning - bread, fruit, cereal, tea/coffee and eggs. Overall, it was a lovely hostel and I would definitely stay again if I returned to Santiago

Great location. By a metro stop and a walking distance from a bunch of bars and parks. Super friendly staff. Lots of fun and reasonably priced stuff happening through the Hostal every night! Also, at night it's quiet so it's also a nice place to actually get some sleep.

Great hostel with amazing staff! Just a minute from the main streets of Providencia which means the hotel is far enough away from the noise of the city, but less than 5 minutes walk away. Free international calls with their Skype phone, and cheap or free food/drinks/activities every single night. Had a great stay! Breakfast was very basic, but still good enough to get your day started right. Most importantly, it is a 10 minute walk from Bellavista area which is beautiful - great restaurants and bars!

Comfortable Hostel Stay
Hostal Providencia is a centrally located (near Baquedano Metro) hostal with friendly service and a continual wave of international newcomers ready to make friends with nightly sing-a-longs (in Spanish, of course), and cook your own facilities with the basics provided at breakfast. The rooms are spacious enough, and the cleaning service sufficient. Safe, clean and congenial digs for a great price, with several kinds of room available. When repairs need to happen, they are turned around in 24-48 hours. I returned for a couple different stays, and each time had no complaints and all needs met. Not fancy, but the price makes long term travel easy!

Disappointing for the price
Very dissappointed in this hostal. Room tiny (was booked as "deluxe"), curtains falling down, dirty, no elevator up to 3rd/ 4th floor. constuction was occurring in the wing the room was located. Reception staff although pleasant and helpful were always extremely busy and I had to queue for a considerable time to get attention. Definitely not good value for the price. Only saving grace was the great included breakfast...eggs, cereal, bread, fruit, juice, coffee

Hostal could do with some TLC. Bed was comfortable, Water was hot but shower needs attention. The bedding was clean but the room needed attention. We arrived on a late flight and I had e-mailed and asked the hostal to arrange transport, which they say they can do BUT in my case did not. We were given a room beside the dining room which we thought a little insensitive considering we arrived in at 1.30am and breakfast started at 7am. Staff were friendly and helpful.

O hostel é ótimo para quem viaja sozinho ou está indo para a cidade pela primeira vez. O local é bastante seguro e está entre duas estações de metrô. Há eventos de socialização todos os dias e isso é bem legal para conhecer novas pessoas. Os recepcionistas em geral são bem simpáticos e todos tem um ótimo domínio do português.

Otima Localização e Animação Total
O Hostel tem uma excelente localização, o que possibilita fazer muitas coisas a pé. em relação a estrutura, o hostel é bem grande, quarto sao bem espaçosos, e se voce esta atras de animação e festas, o hostel providencia é o se lugar! unico ponto a melhorar é em relaçao aos chuveiros que agora no inverno fica bem complicado tomar banho gelado, pois as vezes o chuveiro do andar onde voce esta acaba nao aquecendo.

Banho e quarto frio
A atmosfera do lugar é bem legal, a cama confortável. Porém a calefação automática não esquentava nada e o chuveiro muito menos. Tomar banho frio em pleno inverno foi péssimo.
