Very nice hotel, Great Location. Needs Reno

The hotel overall was really nice. The room had a great view if you ask for the ocean side. The pool was great! This hotel is a IHG reward club, so if you are a member (it's free) then take advantage. Some things to take note, the staff needs some training overall from the front desk to the waiting service in the restaurant and valet staff. I didn't know that it was a IHG rewards club hotel, and the front desk never told me at check in, i found out on my own in the elevator. The "holding charge" the hotel asks you for when you check in is quite unnecessary. They first asked how much did I want to be held on my card, when I told them $50, (because I travel regular to Santo Domingo and do a lot outside of the hotel)the hotel associate then said the minimum that had to be held was $120USD on my card for the "mini bar, room calls and/or room service." I complied, but you could probably dispute it if you wanted. The mini bar inside the room in total cost no more than $15-$20 USD at max, why I say the holding charge is unnecessary. The room that I had, bathroom needs to be updated/renovated. It had a bidet, which was a nice touch, but I would've done without it to have more leg space where the toilet is located. The toilet is literally 3 inches away from the shower wall, which was a little tight. (Sorry forgot to take a picture of the bathroom). Just make sure when you check out you look at ALL the paperwork and charges they make, I had to dispute a few charges they gave me.
