Good value

Posted Sep 10, 2015
Pros: The inexpensive rooms and a surprisingly good breakfast for usd 10.
Cons: The breakfast was supposedly open at 0630, but, in reality only around 7.15/7.30
Location: It's located in the old city of santo domingo , close to a lot of restaurants and historical places.
Said it before and say it again , good value if spending a night or two .

Very centric location

I've stayed at Mercure 2 times already and I'm very pleased with the treatment and quality of the services. I would like to thank Franshesca, front desk staff, for making it possible for me and my family to switch to a non smoking floor quickly and without any hassles. :) Till next time, and thanks

So hot!

Posted Jul 8, 2015 on Hotels
The stay was for 4 nights and the air conditioning broke down on the day we arrived, but they told us the night before leaving. We changed room 5 times and one day after we check out they told us what was happening. Many people who arrived days after us, went to other places that they offered him. They gave us a fan so that at least it was not so hot. It was horrible !!

No A/C = Smelly, Stuffy Room

Posted Jul 8, 2015
Pros: I liked that he allowed me to use the phone to make local calls, they have free wifi, they have a free computer, 24 taxi service available.
Cons: The doors to the room were with a very cheap lock. I didn't feel safe.
Location: The hotel was near stores and restaurants.
I came in around midnight, then arrived some suspicious characters in the lobby waiting to check in. One of them was a women with no luggage and a strange man with tattoos and a weird hairdo. After I checked in he gave me my room key, I went upstairs and my room had no a/c and hot air was blowing into an already steaming hot room. Then I went down again to ask for another room, he gave me another room. I went back upstairs the suspicious man was waiting down in the lobby and the women had gone upstairs to a room. When I went to my second room again no a/c working. Then I went down a third time to tell him I was leaving the hotel and where can I get a taxi. He told me to go to take a shower and go to bed and I would feel better, then he gave me another room key, he sent me to yet another room that was extremely smelly towards the back of the hotel and no a/c working again. I went down asked for a taxi and left the hotel by this time it was around 2AM. I took a taxi back to the airport. I took another taxi back to Hilton Hotel 500 Malecon. Excellent! This hotel is for locals and/or foreigners that know their way around this is NOT for tourists and/or first time visitors. During the day I think this hotel sounds like its safe but at night its scary!!!!!

very nice hotel in a great location

Posted Jun 15, 2015
Pros: staff, room, coffee, location, staff
Cons: it's a nice hotel in a beautiful country. if there are any improvements needed at this hotel, they did not have any effect on my vacation.
Location: things we did = eat, drink, party, sightsee, boca chica, plaza espana, juan dolio,
i stayed here for a week in may 2015 the room i booked was not available so i was given (with no hassle) a sweet for the week. Thank You Mercure staff. Everyone was really nice, my room was clean, comfortable and all around great. i did not eat in the restaurant so i can't comment on the food. center of Zona Colonial = great location.

Bon hôtel très bien situé .

Trés bien situé au coeur de la zone coloniale . Chambres petites mais confortables et propres . Petits déjeuners généreux ( self ) mais non compris dans le prix de la chambre .
