Great location with incredible ambiance!

Posted Nov 5, 2017
Pros: Location, free passes to two local museums, breakfasts, proximity to mass transit
This charming property is just blocks away from bus, tram, and rail connections. The view from the balcony is incredible. The staff is helpful and welcoming. The rooms are well appointed. The breakfast buffet is extraordinary. It is THE place to stay in Lisbon.

Fabulous unique hotel

Posted Sep 2, 2017
Pros: The roof top liberty with honesty bar.
Cons: Nothing
Location: Quiet residential area but with a large art gallery next door
I can't recommend the hotel highly enough. Everything is excellent from the friendly staff to the Moulton Brown toiletries. We both slept brilliantly. Breakfast is excellent. The hotel is 20minute walk from the main tourist area but there is a bus stop just outside or a tram stop 5 minutes walk away. The carafe of port in the room is a nice touch and there are plenty of free hot drinks and snacks in the public areas. There are good restaurants nearby.

Superb hotel

Pros: Outstanding 'character' hotel - extremely responsive to what guests would like!
The hotel encapsulates what can be achieved when owners/designers pay attention to small details.

Easy access to Metro,Tram and Bus routes to Lisbon

Posted Jul 13, 2017
Pros: I give the staff ten out of ten for their genuine welcome and help throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble.
Cons: I have no recommendations to make. It is quite possibly the best small hotel that my wife and I have ever enjoyed.
Location: Located in Santos the hotel enjoys easy access to Lisbon city centre or conversely if you're looking for a beach holiday Cascais is 15 minutes away
Quietly situated with sea views, yet Lisbon city centre is only 10 minutes away via frequent and affordable local transport this attractively presented hotel provides old world charm and hospitality; comfortable air-conditioned rooms with everything you would expect from quality accommodation. Breakfast is served up to 12 noon and even offers champagne free of charge to accompany your choice of meal. If you like history you are surrounded by a wealth of museums, art and antiquity. We came for the NOS pop festival (which was fantastic) but we are coming back to explore the city.

A lovely quirky hotel

Posted May 22, 2017
Pros: Everything
Cons: Can't think of anything
Location: Close to the city centre, next door to a fascinating museum and with easy transport links.
It is a lovely quirky hotel. The staff were very helpful, professional and friendly. The library/sitting room on the top floor was lovely and comfortable with a good view over the river. The beds were vefy comfortable and the complementary port in the room was much appreciated. We really liked it a lot.

Quaint, Old-School Hotel w/ Nice Central Location

Posted May 8, 2017
Pros: I think the helpful staff who speak a LOT of languages are definitely stand-out. The people at the front desk are fluent in many European languages.
Cons: The elevators should be upgraded at some point. They're not terrible, but they're probably the only thing that's not enjoyable.
Location: The location itself is OK, but it isn't spectacular. However, it's mid-way between two of the BEST areas along the river - great walks both ways.
Very enjoyable stay, with the full, traditional, big-city European hotel experience. Has all the things that make hotel stay in Europe fun. Lots of old hardwood furniture, beautiful spiral staircases, lovely breezy windows, helpful staff, garden patio seating, bidet, etc., etc. But then add in the following things, and this particular hotel is worth returning. A very spacious tiled bathroom with a really GOOD bidet with convenient towels and an atypically spacious shower/bath combination. In-room safe with more room than most. An excellent old-wood closet with plenty of room and hangers. A nice, big bed. Really good buffet breakfast with full courses of American, German, English and Portuguese styles, including coffee, and if you didn't sign up for it, but want to add a few days, no problem. A really GOOD espresso machine with complementary coffee and treats 24/7. A surprisingly parkable private garage in the basement (although you have to use a typically cramped European elevator to get to it). A very fun library with liquor, drinks and treats, and sliding doors to a spectacular garden balcony view of the bay.

Maybe a 3 star hotel.

Posted May 1, 2017 on Hotels
The hotel pictures are deceptive. The room is very small and far from properly clean. So it could be a nice 3 star, but not a luxury hotel at all. Service is unfriendly... we were informed upon picking up our car keys that they'd need the room "soon" and that no late check out was available because we did not book directly with the hotel (???!!!) although we had requested it in our reservation and consulted upon check in and told it was not a problem... The hotel location is also not a good one, far from the Chiado/Alfama nice stops. At night, one will not want to wander around.

Dear Guest, Thank you for letting us know your opinion. It is our aim that all Guests feel welcome and have a nice stay and we are regret that we were not able to meet your expectations. We are not and we do not want to be a luxury hotel but rather a traditional Portuguese one where friendliness and cleanliness are points of honor for us. We are located in the neighborhood of Lapa, a residential area adjacent to the most touristic quarters of Lisbon. Lapa is an historic quarter where you can still feel the local lifestyle and it is a very safe area (many embassies are located in this area). We are very sorry for some misunderstanding and we will keep on working hard in order to offer all our Guests a most pleasant stay. Yours sincerely, Diogo Laranjo General Manager

Fabulous hotel for a city break

Posted Apr 14, 2017
Hotel was gorgeous - particularly loved the roof terrace. Reception staff were lovely but some of the others were rather unfriendly. Breakfasts were delicious.

Beautiful hotel with small (hidden) terrace for al fresco breakfasts in addition to beautiful inside room; balcony/terrace upstairs for evening drinks. Charming.
