Great location. Amazing architecture.

Posted Oct 8, 2016
Pros: Location and building
Cons: Outdated rooms. Gym could use more machines
Location: All is around the hotel
The hotel is great. But it needs updating. Great location, close to many restaurants, very central. Good shopping around.

Tired, Old, and a little Smelly

Posted Sep 19, 2016
Pros: Exterior styling. Location.
Cons: Bedding. Odor. Wallpaper. Furnishings. Fitness equipment.
Location: Central location for business in Sao Paulo.
The Maksoud Plaza hotel seems like it was once a nice place, but it is definitely beyond time for updates, renovations, and deep cleaning. While the photos online are accurate, in person, the rooms are not nearly as nice as they might seem. Most anyone can live with out of date furnishings, as long as the price is good. This is not a cool hotel or a hip place though. I found myself wanting to be out and somewhere else. There is an off odor in the rooms, which I am guessing is attributed to the decades old wall paper that is holding onto a billion different aromas that result in a hint of something a bit 'smelly'. The mattresses are old, and I made the mistake of looking under the bed sheet. Nothing horrible lurked there, except I got to see the very worn out mattress pad cover that just looked tattered. There are the little things that were irritating also... like when I woke from my international flight and wanted coffee in the lobby restaurant at 11:00 am. Nope. None available... and all machines were being cleaned so none available for a while. On top of that, the breakfast and dinner buffet offerings were just gross. Meat swimming in gravy and sauce looked very unappetizing. It's not all bad. For the basics... I had a bed to sleep in in a quiet room. It served it's purpose for sure and I think if you are an un-picky business traveler, this hotel will serve you well. If you are used to a few more amenities and a 'nicer' hotel, this isn't the place.

Nice hotel just off of Paulista

Posted Sep 4, 2016
Pros: Great location.
Beautiful facility about 20 stories with great inner and outer view. Has vines that go from floor to floor. They are very environmentally-conscious which I appreciate. Room very comfortable and clean. Lobby staff pleasant and most spoke English too. Food good--breakfast wonderful. No carpets in the room (I prefer that so you know there is no hidden dirt). Nice little minibar and ample closet. Nightly chocolates and some free bottled water too. Internet works well.

A classic, although a renovation is urgent.

Posted Mar 6, 2016
Great hotel close to Avenida Paulista. Architecture is a must. Very modern project. Nice view, if they book you at northern side room. Close to green line metro. Is final stop for the Guarulhos airport bus, in case you decide to use public transportation. The building is a musf, staff is amaizing and supporting. But furniture, mattresses must be renewed. Windows must be cleaned. Need to improve handicapped care. There is a nice night club at top floor, named Panam. Although no mention to the club is made from concierge.

Excellent hotel for the price--zero complaints

Posted Jan 24, 2016
This is exactly what I wanted in a hotel. I moved to a cheaper one later, and that was a mistake. I'm not sure you can find a better place in Sao Paulo for the Money: Comfortable, Quiet, Professional, and a great location.

Security watch

Posted Dec 27, 2015
Pros: Not much
Cons: Plenty. It's drab and old
Location: Location is okay
We had a security incident at this hotel and the General Manager promised to investigate. Nothing was done, no reparations were offered and the man doesn't even answer his mails. Personally the hotel showed no care or regard and I certainly won't be using it again

Dear Mr Steve, We are sorry for what happened with you and your family during your stay. We did everything we could to help that was in our capability and power to be done. All that was beyond our capability and power had to be dealt with the Police, as the General Manager indicated to you then. Once again we are sorry for the situation and hope you understand. Best regards, Henry Maksoud Neto President

Disappointing I clicked just 2 stars.

Posted Dec 25, 2015
Pros: The rate was ok, I should have thought...
Cons: Everything. Start with sheets, towels, cushions, carpet and curtains.
Location: Location is the only asset.
Old sheets and towels, very tough. Bad taste old-fashioned furniture. Breakfast is ok, nothing amazing. Front desk was not friendly. I had the impression I had travelled back in time to the 1980'. So decadent and old.
