Basically it's a great hotel. No major complaints. However two issues. In the reception area there was a strong smell of some kind of air freshener - for us it was far too strong and definitely not pleasant. Also there was no desk-type set up for a laptop in our room - a surprising omission. There was just one small table which was not sufficiently solid to enable easy use of a laptop.

Stayed at Mecure Macon with 3 rooms for 6 people. Paid in advance for breakfast with the booking. There was literally no brekfast available at 9am and waited for over half an hour - no coffee or tea or juice or water or crossaints or bread or anything else. Hotel blamed Covid for lack of staff but no managers on site to help.

Very nice for our overnight stop
We stayed as a stopover on our way home from the Alps, nice hotel, good value, very nice breakfast and lively and clean. Overall a very good stay for us.

Rules and laws without experience by the lawmakers
The team do all they can but the current situation make their job very difficult. Dinner and breakfast in all rooms is a lot more complicated that expected. Further hotel is ok.

Disappointing experience bad location dirty pool
Disappointing not pleaseant experience. Not up to Mercure standards. Disgusting dirty pool and no sunbeds as shown on their website. Definately would not recommend this hotel. We booked a 2 nights stay as we were making our way upto Reims to celebrate my wifes birthday. First impression of hotel not great from an outside perspective. Not a good location it was about 20 to 25 min walk into the town along the river but it felt an unsafe area especially at night. Room was clean and ok. However we did request a top floor in a quiet location. Unfortunately had noisy neighbours above and next door and children running arouns slamming doors had an awful nights sleep. Did mention to reception in the morning However no offer of relocating. First evening asked for bar snack as did not want a full meal. We were told not possublehad to eat in the restaurant we asked if we could just have some fries or sandwich as my wife is vegetarian we were told no had to be off menu. Went into restaurant there was people with dogs decided not to eat there. Following day asked for beds for pool they said there were no beds and we cpuld lie on the floor. The pool is absolutely disgusting dirty and green algae formation. When queried the staff again and asked was the manager aware of the state of the pool we were told it was just discoloured and that is how it was. Algae does not form overnight the 2 days we were there no one cleaned it. I would book the Best western. Better location and standards.

Room without a view
At the time of Covid-19, when restaurants have opened back in France, the restaurant at Mercure hotel is still closed. The breakfast is still provided as few items in a paper bag to take away. In other words, less personnel, less breakfast items. More profits !!!! Also, 408 is a room without a view. Both windows are heavily damaged from humidity over a very long time. The time is over due to change whatever is needed. Some general hotel refurbishment would be also advisable.

Great hotel, simple but clean lines, lovely staff
The Mecure has become our 'go to place' for our trips to the alps every year. we stay with a big group and although the staff are limited, they are friendly, helpful and professional. Breakfast is lovely and the rooms are perfectly adequate...Clean sheets, clean bathrooms, small but perfectly formed as they say! Take dinner at the hotel or be brave and wander down the river which is directly on front of the hotel and cross the main road into the beautiful back streets to find a lovely little tavern or restaurant for food. This town is a delight and the Mercure is perfectly situated to allow you to get a taste enough to make you ant to come back... Its Modern and chic but with the old traditional town just a lovely stroll away.

This hotel is very nice, located by the river for a leisurely stroll. The dinner menu was extensive and our choices were delicious. The room was spacious and clean and the staff were very friendly. The check-out wasn't so good - someone pushed in front of me and then the computer played up but otherwise, all very nice indeed.

Nice enough hotel in nice location next to the river albeit 15 minutes from town. The staff however are terrible, if they insist on employing children, please train them in both common courtesy and how to pour a drink. Honestly.....

By the River
An overnight stop-over on our way south. The Hotel is easy to find - by the river. About 15 minutes walk along the river to the city centre. Not the most interesting of towns - but we were passing through. The staff were friendly. The room was clean but in need of some refurbishment. Nice view of the river. Breakfast was standard. We would use this hotel again.

Good sized room, lovely views over the river
The hotel was easy to find and has a good car park. Its is about 15 min walk into the town centre but its away from any noise so we had a peaceful night. The staff spoke English and were very friendly.

We stayed here for a night on 31st Dec and staff who greeted us was really freind and polite. She offered us an upgrade at no extra cost. We checked out on 1st Jan and again met another very friendly staff. Nice location and only 20 mins walk away from the centre

Nice room poor food
Room was very clean and large enough for the whole family. It was quiet and we did not feel rushed by housekeeping. The only let down was the restaurant. The food was really poor (tepid and flavourless, tasting processed) and limited to three options with a buffet for starter and main courses. Not at all what I would expect from a four star hotel.

A 2 star hotel at best
The staff was barely polite. The hotel had no working internet (they said they would fix it and they didn't). For a 4 star hotel that's totally unacceptable. The privilege room we had was tiny with a mattress on the floor for the 3rd person to sleep on. No bath tub only shower. The carpet was stained and the coffee maker and kettle were dusty. However, the continental breakfast was decent. For the price, just stay somewhere else. A 2 star hotel would have sufficed.

The highlight was that internet was not available during our stay. When consulted, staff informed us that they did not know when it would be fixed. Room was ok, clean, and main bed confortable. Additional bed was not a bed, but a convertible couch. Lift a bit narrow when using prams. Amenities in the toilet very scarce. Big TV. Good air conditioned.

Riverfront hotel in Macon
The Mercure Macon was a stopover for us on our drive back to the UK after a holiday in Italy. The hotel only seems to have become a Mercure hotel VERY recently and renovation work is ongoing (summer 2016). Luckily the rooms have been renovated and they are as you would expect in any modern hotel. The hotel is not that large and is well situated between the outskirts of town and the centre. The hotel restaurant is ok but we had a feeling that the food was only semi-prepared. You can unquestionably do better in town. The hotel features a small pool which we used and liked. The hotel happens to be next to a spectacular local public swimming pool. The hotel is close to a large supermarket with cheap fuel and a good burgundy wine selection.

Good one night stopover hotel as it's near to many good restaurants short walk along the banks of the Saone. Good wine area. Safe parking in hotel grounds. Choice of food poor in restaurant but doesn't matter as there are great places nearby.In the middle of refurbishment at the moment.

Don't know where to stop? this is a good place
We stayed here following a massive snow storm that caught us earlier in our trip - as did many other families - and the hotel occupancy went from 1/3 to filly occupied. I cannot find enough good words for the Mercure's team - they were awesome and managed the situation very well. This is our new stop over from now on when crossing France !

I stayed one night and liked the location near the river where I walked my dog. It was convenient to the highway and there were at least two McDonalds nearby, which I appreciated. The hotel is surrounded by a park like setting and athletic facilities, a little away from the urban noise. It was nice and quiet back there. I wish I had more time to explore the area but was there as a stop on the way to the Côte d'Azur. I would definitely return.

Great location
The Hotel is so close to the river that you can enjoy strolling along it and enjoy the view if on that side. There are some nice streets and shops to explore . The hotel was very convenient for parking and the dinner we have was exceptionally good .
