Great for what it is

Posted Apr 17, 2017
Pros: Location and Staff
Cons: remember to tip the beach guy for setting up the umbrella as I cant tell you how many Europeans I saw who didnt tip
This is my third year in a row staying here and it is great for what it is, yes it is a little dated, but the rooms are clean and are a decent size. And it is right n the beach, the staff is friendly, the food is good and a great location to Armands circle. Granted it isn't a Ritz or even a Marriott/Westin, but it does the job and does it well. It will be gone in about 5 years or less as the property was sold a few years ago to investors and they are waiting on the permits to build a huge resort - but for now it is great bargain and well worth the money. -Quick tip get the 4th floor gulf front as it is worth the money and the sunsets are amazing. Also please note to read your restaurant/bar bill as the gratuity is included.

Great location, great beach. Rooms could be updated but Gulf views outweighed the room.

Location is great, but the hotel is way overpriced

Posted Mar 19, 2017
Pros: The location is spectacular!
Cons: Making sure the rooms are thoroughly cleaned.
Location: St. Armand's circle is wonderful, and the beach is great. The views of the sunset are breathtaking!
Used to stay here quite a bit, but this latest trip was very disappointing! I put my computer down on the table and my hand was stuck on something VERY sticky. Floor was not vacuumed. Outside terraces were shared and not private. Hotel is showing its age.

This hotel needs to be brought up to the 21st century - worn out furniture, broken door lock; cold front desk staff, the worst hotel I've been to in the World, for that price. The location is its only advantage.

Nice location but disappointing hotel

Posted Mar 14, 2017
Pros: Proximity to beach.
Cons: Hotel looks old and needs a face lift especially being next to the Ritz. Disappointed in accommodations & room location for the money.
Location: Armand Circle with all the shopping & restaurants was great and we spent several hours there.
Room was noisy as it was next to garage access overlooking garage. Overpriced for accommodations. They have a sign up that says something like "our goal is to make you come back" Looked better on internet of course but really disappointed.

Very Outdated. Very Disappointed

Posted Mar 13, 2017
Location: Close to St. Armands Square in Sarasota lots to do very nearby
The Hotel itself is located right on the gulf, but the rooms are very outdated. Our sink in the bathroom was very slow to drain, our carpet was wet by the bathroom, the beds were very uncomfortable. We called on the morning of checkout just to get an hour extension and was told NO. There is an automatic 18% tip added onto everything and there was just the two of us, not a big party. For the price we paid We expected it to be a lot nicer. We will not go there again.

On the Beach

Posted Mar 13, 2017
Pros: Location
Cons: Needs a bit of a face lift.
Location: Beach, pool, all attractions in Sarasota, and about one and a half hours to Tampa or Ft. Myers.
We spent two nights at Sandcastle; the location is perfect, on the beach and about 15 minutes to most things in Sarasota. The resort provides shuttle service to the shopping area of St. Armand's Circle, a complex of stores and very good restaurants. The resort allows guests to ride bicycles for up to three hours at no cost, has free wifi, free bottled water and a refrigerator in each room. They also provide chaise longes and umbrellas on the beach. The facility is a bit dated; it could use a bit of renovation, but it is well maintained.

Beautiful beachfront property

Posted Mar 12, 2017
Pros: The beach, there was also a shuttle that took you to St Armand's Circle so you didn't have to drive and figure out parking. Drivers were courteous
Cons: Update the rooms
Location: Beachfront, Natural area for hiking and fishing within walking distance. St Armand's Circle area had shopping and many good restaurants
Every staff member that we encountered was pleasant, helpful and seemed to really care about satisfaction. The private beach was perfect. Chairs and umbrellas were available and staff was accessible to help us with the set up. Beach was beautiful. Rooms were musty and dated. More like a motel. Bathroom was very small with a window to the outside hallway.

Right on the beach

Posted Mar 9, 2017
Pros: Very clean, hotel is right on the beach
Cons: Rooms could use renovation/improvement.
Location: Location is excellent, right on the beach and St. Armand's Circle very close by
Hotel is pretty outdated but was very clean, I would say impecable...staff very friendly, did not have a problem at all. If you like to stay right on the beach, this is the hotel to be, rooms with a view from the balcony. Beautiful sunsets. Lounge chairs, umbrellas, and they will bring you cold water at the beach.
