On the beach by the pier!

Posted Feb 4, 2016
Pros: nice sunrise from bed! within walking distance from some of the restaurants and beach stores.
Cons: would be nice if they had beach access from the back of the hotel so you didn't have to walk around the building to get there.
It was nice, but obviously old. The bathrooms, while clean, gave you the impression of needing work. It had everything it advertised but we paid extra for oceanview and I wondered if we had been given a 1st floor room if we would have seen anything except the dunes. So be careful when booking. It seemed overpriced for this time of year.

Great surprise! Renovated and upscale...

Posted Jan 27, 2016
Pros: Ocean front room with glass door that opens to hear the waves. Beautiful decor, coffee maker, all that we needed.
Cons: noisy bathroom fan. we were told the whole system was being repaired next month. So that was it. Great place!
Location: No longer serve breakfast, but recommended the Breakfast Club next door. It was funky, fun and delicious.
I have been staying at this motel for decades. We stopped a few years ago because of a rude and difficult desk clerk. She has left and the rest is the best! Great desk clerks - especial Cara and John. Rooms have been renovated to an upscale quality. New restaurant was very good... altho expensive for my budget. We were pleasantly surprised all around.

Better than expected

Posted Jan 3, 2016
I had read some past reviews and expected there to be lots of construction. Fortunately there was not. Our room was very nice. They lamps were old and rusted but still worked just fine. They did let me know they were going to replace the lighting and furnishings this year. However this didn't affect our stay or how we felt about the hotel. In fact we plan to come back in summer with our kids. We ate at the restaurant in the hotel. It was good. The waitress is the only reason we probably wouldn't go back. She was very strange and talked a lot about personal things. She wouldn't leave and let us eat in peace. The hotel itself is conveniently located on the beach and next to several restaurants.

Thank you for staying with us. We genuinely appreciate the opportunity to serve you. We've only owned the hotel for just under a year and a half. Since purchasing the hotel we've worked non-stop making huge improvements. This spring we will be replacing all our furniture and lighting. My team and I are incredibly excited for this next phase of improvements. Hope to see you back real soon. Until then...safe travels! Brett General Manager

Ideal hotel for the beach

Posted Jan 1, 2016
I got a really great deal on this hotel and was very close to everything. The only thing I didn't like was that the decor inside was very outdated. The lamps in the hotel were rusted. We also had to get the front office to call maitenance to come see what was wrong with our air conditioning. If the sliding door was cracked even slightly, it wouldn't come on. We didn't know that was the issue since we never touched the door until the guy came. The worker was very nice and professional. Other than the minor decor, this was a very comfortable and pleasant hotel.

Excellent stay. Beautiful view of the beach

Posted Jan 1, 2016
Pros: Most everything
Cons: Replace the elevator floors with something that does not hold and create a mildew smell.
Location: Perfect
Great experience. Front desk staff, Cara and John could not have been nicer. They were helpful in every way. I left my daughters Christmas gifts in the parking lot and they attempted everything under the son to recover them. Unfortunately they never showed up.

Nice place to stay next to the beach

Posted Dec 17, 2015
Pros: Location, comfort, overall cleanliness
Cons: Remove rust, spruce up the first floor lobby by the elevator
Location: Tybee Island Lighthouse is a must see but plan to spend 4 to 6 hours
Hotel Tybee is in an excellent location if you are looking for beach access but don't let the photos fool you it is not on the beach. There is a public parking lot separating the hotel from the beach. I do not recommend the partial ocean view rooms as your view is mainly parking lot. Either save money and go for the no view or spend big and get the full ocean view. The rooms are comfortable and clean but there is a lot of the rust on the sprinkler and light fixtures. Some cosmetic fixes and this could easily be a 4 star hotel.

Thank you so much for staying with us! We genuinely appreciate the opportunity to serve you. Please know...we tell anyone and everyone possible that their is a long thin parking lot between the hotel and the beach. It is shown on our property map which we email to all guests booking through our website. In no way shape or form would we ever try to deceive our guests. That would be a recipe for disaster. I too, think paying the difference for a full ocean view room is well worth it. We've owned the hotel for 16 month and have been working non-stop making improvements. In April, we will replace all the guest room furnishings and lighting. It will be a another significant improvement at Hotel Tybee. I hope you will come back this coming summer and experience our progress! Hope you have a safe and wonderful New Year! THANKS AGAIN!!!

Pros: Location is very good. The restaurant is very nice but very expensive.
Cons: Bathrooms, beds.
Location: Don't go in Winter - most places are closed even some of the local shops and restaurants.
We stayed at Hotel Tybee for one night from the 6 - 7th of December 2015. At first the building is impressive and the lady at registration was very friendly and helpful. When we got in the room we were disappointed. The bathrooms are old, and requires maintenance. The rooms are old, the beds are ok however its twin beds and not queen size.

JP, Thank you so much for staying with us! We genuinely appreciate the opportunity to serve you. The hotel only offers rooms with two queen sized beds or one king sized bed. We do not have ANY rooms with twin sized or double sized beds. We've owned the hotel for 16 month and have been working non-stop making improvements. In April, we will replace all the guest room furnishings and lighting. It will be a another significant improvement at Hotel Tybee. Next year we will finish phase three and completely remodel the guest bathrooms. I hope you will come back this coming summer and experience our progress! Hope you have a safe and wonderful New Year! THANKS AGAIN!!!
