Overall the hotel was nice. We took the shuttle numerous times and the drivers went out of their way to accommodate us. The room itself smelled quite musty to me and the water did not taste so good. The pillows had a horrible odor. For the price we were expecting more.

Pros: Décor and amenities were outstanding
Cons: For us and not for everyone.... bed mattress
Location: very good
Everything was beyond positive about the hotel. The only thing slightly off for us was the beds mattress was a little soft for both of us and we ended up and left with back stiffness that lasted for several days.

Overpriced for what you actually get, plates left abandoned in hallways, phone next to bed didn't work so I had to use bathroom phone and was charged $50 dollars for an umbrella that I left behind at a restaurant. I was ok paying $20 or $30 for the umbrella but $50 + tax for a Made in China umbrella was an insult. The hotel is BEAUTIFUL but management has no attention to detail or sense of proper customer service, as the response I received was "sorry there's nothing we can do"... they don't even try to justify the crazy umbrella charge they added to my bill after spending over $950 for three night stay, $66 in parking and $300 at the restaurant and bar. Will definitely come back to Savannah but never to this hotel.

Modern opulence meets old school charm

Pros: Distinctive decor, park side setting away from the tourist hub, and overall personality.
Location: As you walk from the hotel toward the river area, you'll make discoveries on every block and at each historic square.
We really enjoyed our 4-night stay at The Mansion. The woman at the lobby desk in the evening was particularly charming and helpful. Don't forget to have a drink or dinner at the hotel's restaurant. That historical building and the decor is quite striking. Also, the shuttle bus between The Mansion and the Bohemian Hotel is a welcome option when you're not interested in walking.

Cut our stay short (and lost money doing this) as we were unimpressed with the hotel. The service was good (not great), however the rooms weren't especially clean and the interior of the hotel including the rooms was tired and musty smelling. The location, however, was convenient. Reading other reviews before I booked I definitely expected a much nicer hotel and stay.

Favorite Hotel

This is my third stay at the Mansion on Forsyth and it will not be my last. I so love this hotel. From the valet attendants to the front desk staff and everyone in between, this hotel is welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The hotel itself is so beautiful and the artwork everywhere is amazing. I can't wait to plan my next trip.
