I checked into the property and gave the front desk a credit card for incidentals. The immediately charged my card $1,500 for the whole stay without even telling me the total or that they were running my card. We discovered it because my amex card gives me alerts for large purchases. I had PREPAID my room through Expedia. I have used Expedia for at least 20 years all over the world and NEVER had this happen. When I told the front desk I prepaid they said "this happens a lot" then told me to talk to the manager tomorrow. I talked to a different front desk girl and the manager was "busy" and never bothered to come talk to me. They said they fixed it and the hold would eventually fall off my card. I am in a position where I can handle a large hold but what if I did not have the spending power on my card to accomidate? That is not a small amount and could have limited or ruined someones spending power on their vacation. When I asked if it was cleared up at check out the front desk person said I could alway prove I paid with my credit card. I have never had such horrible customer service at a hotel before. I don't feel they meet up to Expedia standards. They also had loud construction going on right outside our room. We had to walk through plastic and other patrons called to complain about morning loud noise. I have in the past received emails warning me about construction and were very considerate from hotels I booked with you. I now find myself less confident booking with you.

We absolutely love the old charm but just keep in mind that the hotel is under construction so if you don’t mind a little extra noise in the morning and some workers around it is wonderful. It is going to be absolutely beautiful when the renovation is complete.

Savannah is historically amazing and the River Street Inn is beautiful, unique and the staff are wonderful and very helpful. We arrived at 11:00 and could check in which was super. The renovational work is truly amazing and there is an active workshop on premises making many new upgrades and changes. Just the BEST Sue C.

Good location. Very dark room. Lack of information about the recent flood that really made the stay not worth the price. Couldn’t use the room deck area, other amenities unavailable but not explained. It will be nice when the repairs are completed.

The hotel’s historical significance was very evident which I loved. The location was excellent-close to shopping, restaurants and water. The front desk staff could have been more welcoming but that wasn’t such big deal to me. My issue was my room… It was clean but the furniture set up was weird. There was no where for you to put your belongings besides a chair or the bed. I looked into the room across from me and it had a desk and what appeared to be a little sitting area. My room could have at least had a desk. Another thing that bothered me is the cleaning staff doesn’t clean the room, they just make the bed and give you new towels. They didn’t even wipe down the sink or shower which both could have used some attention. One other thing which isn’t the hotel’s fault but something to be mindful of which is the noise. You are literally in the thick of things so you get all that comes with it which includes noise all times of the night. My room was on the 2nd floor which is really 2 floors below the main lobby faced a walking path so I got all the pedestrian noise and what sounded like restaurant staff pushing containers on wheels. If you face the water you get all the music, laughing, shouting and vehicles until the wee hours of the evening. Overall we had a good stay and would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again.

So the hotel does not have a camera and some reason somebody got to the room and stole money and watch and we went to the front desk. We need to see camera in the hallway and they said they don’t have a camera so I would never recommend it’s unsecure.

The Inn was decorated like an Old Savannah house, clean and our room had a balcony over River St. and the River. The View was so nice. Staff was helpful and we walked 5 minutes to so many great restaurants.

The hotel was in the perfect area if you have one night in Savannah. It was a little bit rundown and there was construction going on the room was clean. However, when you open the doors to the cabinets, the floor was full of dust, and there were holes where they used to be Things in the shower . It needs a little bit of TLC, but the staff were amazing and helpful and the location cannot be met.

This hotel is all about location. it has a lot of potential, as it is very charming and its historical significance cannot be overlooked. The rooms were fairly clean and the atmosphere was interesting. It sure seemed to me like their queen size beds were actually doubles sold to me as queens. Ultimately, what this hotel is missing is a trained professional staff that participate in coordinated service to their customers. At this price it is an expectation. Although my family did not get to participate in the manager’s reception, I did hear good things about this offering. If you’re looking for a hotel that is close to the action in the historic district of Savannah, and you don’t need to be pampered in anyway whatsoever, this is your hotel.

First of all, it took them an hour and a half to check in, few parking spaces in front of the hotel only for valet parking for $45 a day or public parking two blocks away for $30 a day, really inconvenient... inside the rooms and the hallways not really “clean”…

Check-in was delayed until 5pm. They offered to not charge me destination charges. Rooms are nice, newly done but have a lot of small issues - front door rattled every time the AC came on. More importantly, the front desk charged me more than the Expedia rate. After I asked them to correct it, they said their system was down and they would refund me the amount the next day. Five days later I am still waiting for the refund.

Layers of dust in the room. I have Asthma and asked 3 times to clean but they didn’t. Stayed 4 nights without any vacuuming or dusting. All they did was taking trash out. Asthma got out of control and I had to stay home for 3 days because of it. Wheezing and miserable. Was told they will refund two night and still nothing

We loved the location as far as being near restaurants and venues. The hotel itself wasn't anything special. The walls seemed thin. We heard the folks next door sing Happy Birthday and could hear someone on what sounded like a business call. Made me feel like I was back in a college dorm. The bath mat delivered after the second day had dried blood on it. When water dripped on it, it turned bright red so wasn't the stain I assumed that it was.

There was a glitch in the reservation, and they did not have a room available. However, Nicole at the front desk was fabulous, she worked her magic and got us squared away, and in our room in about 30 minutes.

Finding the area to park and register is a challenge. Lots of buildings in area being rehabbed and repurposed which generates noise and construction equipment parked everywhere.

Great property to stay at. The building itself has a great historical significance to Savannah and the hotel exemplifies that from the original brickwork and room flooring. The staff is also amazing. From the front desk, cleaning staff, and valet guys. Just wonderful people.

My husband and I recently visited Savannah for the first time and chose the River Street Inn based on location, design and price. We loved the fact that it is an old building that has been renovated and the rooms are gorgeous. Our first room was on the third floor, which is actually below the entrance to the hotel. We loved the exposed brick, the beams in the ceiling and the amenities in general. However, there was construction just outside our room and was quite noisy. Construction began at 7 AM, possibly a little bit earlier, and they were digging up the road, so it was quite loud. The hotel was very accommodating, and moved us to the other end of the hotel, up to the fifth floor with a view of the street side. The second room we were moved to was even bigger and just as lovely. The blackout blinds were very much appreciated! The noise from the street wasn’t too bad. We do use the gym facilities wherever we stay and we found the gym to be clean and mostly in excellent condition. My only complaint was that I mentioned to the hotel twice that the water filter needed to be changed on the auto fill system and one of the dumbbells had disappeared during the day on our second day there. Despite notifying front desk a couple of times neither of those issues we’re resolved during our stay. I would suggest that the hotel also provide workout mats in the gym facility. Overall a great stay - highly recommend for a stay in the historic district.

The Inn owners have carefully merchandized the property with creative use of photos and overstated descriptors that imply a luxury experience, one that they clearly feel worthy of premium pricing. Once there, you see an historic gem with untapped potential. From the start, engaging with the front desk, you encounter idle, rigid interaction. The concierge vibe is absent. Especially with the younger staff. As a first example, we arrive at 4:30, one half hour after check-in. A young woman was flatly telling a lobby full of guests that NONE of their rooms were ready with no real explanation, apology, accommodation. These folks were told they could, "Just leave your bags right there, and I'll try to keep an eye on them." Her explanation of what was happening was vague at best -- cold, flat, "Sorry, Charlie," in nature. The guests were perfectly polite. This tone of disinterest lasted the whole visit. A final example would include an exchange from our last day, which was Saturday, when we would be checking out at 11AM. At about 7AM, there was a heavy, sharp slam against our bedroom wall, jolting us upright. We soon realized our neighbors were letting their kids to jump on/off the furniture, tossing the furniture each other around, screaming and squealing at the top of their lungs. My husband went to clerk to ask for light intervention. He was told zero could be done as it was time for people to be getting up. We had to handle. Valet and bartender were the only pros.
