perfect location and great place

This is an old but updated building right on the river. Room was very nice - you had to learn which elevator went to which floor but was fun getting lost a few times. Their happy hour was fun and a good way to meet others. We had a balcony room overlooking river. Not big but fun. Impromptu music one night. Great place.

Great Location, Great Staff, Not So Great Room

Pros: Staff was great, Common areas are nice, can't beat the location! Everything is within walking distance.
Cons: The rooms need to be remodeled. Replacing the carpet and broken drapes would go a long way.
Location: The location is fantastic!! There's a great french cafe right outside the front door, and everything else is steps away on River Street.
There were some things that were really disappointing about our room. I've stayed in older buildings that have been converted to hotels in New Orlando and DC, so I'm used to these type of hotels. We paid extra for a balcony room facing River Street. You would think these would be the best kept rooms since they are more expensive. When we walked into the room, I immediately noticed the carpet was dirty. I'm not picky about this kind of stuff, but it was just dirty. I wouldn't walk on it with bare feet. Stained, and old. Both sets of curtains were broken, and almost impossible to close. It's blatantly obvious when the cleaners come through the drapes need to be replaced. You cannot close them. The bed was uncomfortable. Felt like the mattress had no pad on it, and it was lumpy and noisy. Also, the sheets seemed stained. The furniture was pretty beat up. nicks and stains on the wood. There were patches on the wall where I guess art used to be hanging that they took down and never replaced. The bathroom was dated, dark, and not in good shape. You can tell the fixtures are old, and flimsy. What I took away is you can tell the rooms were really nice in the 90's-early 00's when the hotel was built. At least in this room, NOTHING has been done since. I read reviews that other rooms were very nice, but the one we stayed in needed to be completely remodeled. New carpet, new drapes, new bed, and the bathroom needs to be updated. A hotel of this caliber and these prices needs some love.

Great people hotel needs some work!

Start with the great staff. All the staff was helpful and would answer any questions we had. Joey was the best by far, we pulled up and from that point till we got to our room he walked us through check in to parking. Now the room EVERY NIGHT THERE WAS WATER on the floor from the A.C. and not just a little. The fist night the person told us that this happens a lot in all the rooms but he would get it fixed. I was like ok but the next day we got back to our room and same thing, and the next morning the day of check out there was WATER already on the floor. THIS COULD BE A GREAT INN BUT THE OWNER NEEDS TO PUT MONEY into the up keep of it. I know it is an old historical building but if you up keep the insides and and fix the A.C. from putting water on the floor. Again GREAT STAFF GOOD LOCATION JUST NEEDS SOME FIXXING UP!

Perfect location

We will definitely return. Loved the historic vibe and the staff was fantastic - especially the housekeeper who was more concerned about a sick husband than our late checkout!

Historic hotel, great location

Overall a nice hotel but the rooms could use a renovation. We stayed in the Magnolia wing and there waa definitely and odor in the hall and room. The bathroom was also poorly lit. We did have a view facing the river which was gorgeous. It is located in the river in close proximity to everything. The hotel itself is very pretty and historic. The staff was very friendly.

River Walk Charmer

Great Hotel right on the riverwalk. On the Historic Registry. Front Desk staff and Steven the Concierge are super helpful. Great folks. Walk to everything. Parking across the street felt safe. We'll be back.
