The Econo Lodge was close to our rodeo event. The room smelled clean upon entry. No breakfast at all. Personnel interactions were brief and curt.

Nasty, filthy, would not recommend to a dog
The room was disgusting! Informed management and they did nothing about it! I was itching the entire time I was in the bed. Decided to look at the bed and it was filthy! There were roaches in the corner of the from and dead spiders. I would recommend a dog to stay here let alone a person!

Floors were nasty and the base boards look like they have never been cleaned. I dont thi k tge shower had since it had spider webs. We stay there only because we have no other choices in Selmer, Tn.

This property has been several brands over the last few years. They have made some much needed improvements (replaced carpet with LVP, upgraded the bathrooms, replaced linens). They used to provide a continental breakfast, but that has not come back since COVID.

I stayed here for one night. Room was okay not real clean. Had to put up a deposit on the room checked out the next morning no one at front desk to get deposit back. Took 2 days to get the deposit back.

The booking ad said there wud be a complimentary breakfast. There was NOT. We were still in our room one morning when the maid arrived. She said she wud come back later. She did not. Our room was adequate but ... drab ... with walls painted a dark color, a bit 'depressing'. The room was clean, bedding fairly new, bathroom updated, hair dryer, hot water pot for tea, instant coffee. Overall - acceptable but not great.

Pleasantly Surprised.
We came up to help with the cleanup from the tornados that hit the area. We got one of the last rooms - very comfortable and spacious. There aren't a lot of options for hotels in Selmer, this hotel has been remodeled since the last time we stayed. Check-in took a while and it seemed like I was bothering the clerk. We didn't get a wi-fi password so not sure if they have wi-fi or not.

I called to alert staff we would be arriving around 5 am and to confirm someone would be there to check us in. I arrived at 5:15 am, the front door was locked. Rang the bell, knocked and called for 5 minutes before someone came to the front. Can see that I woke them up. Checked out at 4 am. Front door locked again. No one came to door so had to leave room key between the door and left a message on VM that I checked out. Room was clean but fridge and microwave combo very outdated. Microwave had turn buttons instead of digital buttons. Face cloths were thin and discolored from wear and tear. Toilet ran. Had to wiggle the handle to stop it. TV was horrible. Horrible sound and horrible connection. Had to keep unplugging and replugging to get it to work.

Never in my life will I EVER stay at this hotel again. Ya'll need to get them off your site. The place is disgusting. Towels with brown spots all over them, overcharging for pets (they charge PER pet), $100 deposit on TOP of the pet fee, the bed was broken (Literally sunk in on one side), the tub would NOT drain (reported this to housekeeping and was told they knew about it, but the owners had not chosen to fix it, also told the owners and literally no response), we had 2 lights that worked besides bathroom area. They advertise "free breakfast" but there is no breakfast due to "COVID". Umm, didn't those restrictions stop? The parking lot is littered with trash, along with the grassy area they expect you to take your dogs to do their business at. We got a call Saturday morning saying we hadn't paid for the dogs being there, however, we TOLD them we had dogs when we checked in and was under the assumption they charged us. They didn't, so we had to go up there Saturday morning and pay $350. So that is basically dang near $180 a night for a slum hotel! The pics do NOT match the hotel. Oh and by the way, it advertises room service.....lol. All I can do is laugh at that. We checked in at 2am, normal hotels have someone on third shift. Instead, their door is locked and I stand outside in the cold for five mins waiting on the woman to get out of bed so we can check in. Just don't stay here...drive an extra hour to the next town or rent a house.

While the listings all say breakfast is included. We’re far enough past the pandemic for that to be an excuse. Plus listings should be current. Also this is not a nice enough place for the price. The $100 deposit is unreasonable for a prepaid room. Hardly any places do that.

The person who checked us in was very rude. She indicated that we should be happy with the conditions because we got such a good rate. The room was very dirty, the floor behind the nightstand looked as if it hadn’t been swept in months. The sheets were dirty.

Econolodge Lodge in Selmer grade D-.
We arrived at Econolodge in Selmer, TN around 7:30pm. I was apprehensive about having to give the clerk a $100. deposit, as there was no mention of that when I reserved and paid in advance. Then I was told no breakfast because of COVID. I reserved with free breakfast for my family if four. No mention of COVID. I asked what time the pool opened and was told the pool was broken. I reserved the room with my grandchildren specifically because they advertise with a beautiful pool. Falsely So overall the room was clean and comfortable. But I didn't get at all what was promised and expected. Needless to say, I won't be back.

Some work needed.
The person checking us in didnt seem to know what he was doing and had no personality. He seemed to be a teenager. A woman assisted and we were checked in. Room smelled like a smoking room, until we turned on the air conditioner. We were on 1st floor and clearly heard footsteps above us on 2nd floor.

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Location was the best thing about the property. Right in the middle of town. That’s all that was really good about it. The rest wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t great either.
