This property is a gem! My husband and I spent four lovely nights here. The location is fantastic -- in the heart of the walkable historic district and very convenient to everything. Our room was lovely, as was the breakfast. The whole house is beautiful and filled with marvelous antiques. The most special thing about our experience, however, is the wonderful host, Dr. Albert Wall, a retired OB/GYN. He serves breakfast personally each morning and is delighted to chat about Savannah and offer helpful tips and suggestions. I recommend the Stephen Williams house with great enthusiasm!
Our host, Dr. Albert Wall, grew up in Savannah and could give us lots of stories and historical context. He was a delightful gentlemen and took an interest in what we were going to do while in Savannah and had recommendations for us. His inn was thoughtfully and meticulously renovated to preserve and improve on historical Savannah. His breakfast was simple and yummy. Our whole experience embodied Southern charm and hospitality!
Albert, the owner and his entire staff are very sweet! The breakfast was delicious and I felt as if we had our personal historian, tour guide and chef all in one! Outstanding location, as well.
Dr Wall is a delight. The SCAD student staff does an excellent job with the housekeeping. I hope I get a chance to return to Savannah. 10 out of 5 stars!
This is truly a special place. If you want to experience living in Savannah, The Stephen Williams House is perfect. The location allows you to walk to most anything in the city. The inn is filled with amazing antiques and each piece has a story. The rooms are large and very well appointed and the porch provides a comfortable place to read and relax. The included breakfast was delicious and beautifully served. Add to all of this the warm hospitality provided by Dr. Wall and his team and you realize that compared with most lodging options, staying here is a rare and memorable experience.
This house was beautifully restored from the 1830’s. It was decorated top to bottom from the time period it was built. We felt so loved and welcomed from the minute we got there. From Alice who took care of our booking, to Albert who owns the property, to Brandon who does landscaping... everyone wanted to meet us and learn about us. It was so warming. We stayed downstairs in the Azalea room. It was cozy and all that we needed. We brought our laptop to have Hulu / Netflix during the evening hours but the room did offer a small tv we never used. WiFi was available as well. The only thing I would have would have done differently would be to bring a portable fan or noise maker as you can hear the traffic / pedestrians chatting from outside and it goes on through all hours of the night. The breakfast was delicious and very authentic and historical to Savannah. Doc made so many wonderful recommendations for us to do: activities / restaurants / etc. We would book here again over and over!
This is definitely the place I will stay from now on when I visit Savannah. Great location, extremely well kept, and lots of history in this house. Excellent owner and staff. They make you feel like you are part of a family from the time you arrive until the time you leave. Very helpful with suggestions of what to do while visiting as well. Ms Alice, Brandon, and the wonderful Dr Wall are all amazing!! Thank you so much for such a great experience.
