I was told on the phone by someone at Marriott that the Scarborough location had a generator. I checked in because I lost power at my home. When I arrived at the hotel, I was told that they in fact did not have a generator and they hotel ended up losing power for most of the next day. The person at the Marriott 800 number gave me the wrong information. Do better Marriott.

The staff was very nice but there was not one extra pillow in the entire hotel? The layout of the hotel room has a nearly empty living room- maybe for a family of six provide more than a 2 seat couch and chair? Also, the room has a full fridge , dishwasher, oven and microwave but one dish, cup and bowl. It just came across as really cheap. Also, the pool is in place but the hot tub has been removed. That is always a welcome feature for parents when kids use the pool. You can tell there was a hot tub previously There that has been replaced by a group Of loungers. Finally, the couch was a sleeper but was stained and kind of gross.

This property was extremely dirty. When we checked in the room was not clean. The bedsheets had a huge crusty stain on them. I would never stay there again.

The only thing that upset me was i came here because of the picture of the hot tub on your site and when i got here i was informed that it had been taken out..the pictures shouldn't be there if there is no hottub..

Glenn,Thank you for sharing your concerns about a hot tub picture. In looking into this there are no pictures or notations about a hot tub on the Expedia site. We have removed all but one picture that is on our Marriott site that we are still awaiting for approval. We have removed all verbiage as well about a hot tub. I apologize if you were miss lead and I hope that we will see you in the future.

Definately worth the stay.
I am so glad this is the hotel that I chose to stay in. I am a native of Maine and was here for 10 days visiting family. By the sixth day of my stay here I think everybody knew me my name. Every time I came back they greeted me, and every time I left they say goodbye have a great day. It was a very comfortable feeling. There was always a very nice breakfast in the morning. Anything I asked for for the room they were more than glad to bring it to me. The housekeepers were very friendly. The grounds were very clean and the hotel was very clean. When I come back to Maine I am definitely going to stay here again. I had a sweet which was very comfortable. They have a little grocery store in the hotel, and a very large grocery store across the street. Was definitely worth staying at. I stayed alone and I was very comfortable and not worried about being alone. I had requested a room on the first floor near the front desk so I would feel safe, they accommodated me with that.

My stay was great! The room was clean. The staff were wonderful and met every request I made. Breakfast was okay. I am not a fan of the turkey sausage patties or links but the scrambled eggs are delicious! The spinicho quiche was excellent!

Overall nice staff, had to beg for towels/cleaning
Overall clean and quiet, not charmed that the front desk staff person- man working on weekend during the day) gave my 82 year old mother a hard time about getting an additional room key when all her ID indicated she was a rightful room resident. He was sarcastic with me (daughter) when I followed up on it. Most of the staff bent over backwards to be helpful.

Our first room was filthy. I like to santize our rooms upon arrival and the amount of dirt that was found was unexceptable. My sons feet were black from all the dirt. There was pee in the floor in front of the toilet. There were hairs in the bed and tub. Vents were filthy. Pillow in closet for pull out couch was dirty. Front desk said they didn't have another eoom then after I pushed they called someone and suddenly found a room. Second room was cleaner but the toilet would pump every 15 minutes. There was also a fan in that bathroom that would never stop. Pool was closed or construction zone for our entire stay. Staff at breakfast were the only redeeming quality at this place. I have pictures o can forward.

Overall, and very good stay.
Very impressed despite some older negative reviews. Front desk was very friendly and helpful, breakfast was a hot meal with lots of foods including fresh fruit and individualized quiches, parking was good. The layout of the buildings was confusing and it was unclear on arrival which buildings were the Mariott and which not (poor signage), but no problem once you knew your way. There was steady noise from the interstate running right next to the property but I used earplugs and was fine sleeping; ask for a room on the opposite side.

Room smelled like cigarette smoke. Pullout couch was dirty with food products. Had to ask for linens for the pullout couch. Lack of parking spaces, had to park in a lot “near” the hotel. When asked to speak with a manager, was told there they were in a meeting and couldn’t do much with the reservation since it was booked through a third party.

All was great. The other problem was having to check in at 4:00 and check out the next morning at 11:00. This is not even a 24 hour stay. For the cost of the room 24 hours should be the timeframe. Checking in earlier than 4:00 would have definitely been appreciated.
