Nice hotel, small rooms, excellent food. Great location but needs a lick of paint and a children's menu section...

Walls too thin as one can hear conversations through the walls. Old touches throughout hotel are nice. Door security needs improving. Food excellent.

The photos and initial impressions of this hotel are not promising. However I was pleasantly surprised with my short overnight stay. The staff were welcoming, the food was good and despite the architecture (grey concrete) the place had quite a nice feel. It is not luxurious, but the rooms were clean, beds comfy and bathroom/shower etc were good. It was also pretty quiet. I'd definitely stay here again on my next visit without hesitation.

This hotel was a dissapointment

Pros: The breakfast which was buffet style was very nice.
Cons: Fix the water leaks, instead of having containers catching the water. It is an old building so there is not much that can really be done
Location: We drove to John O' Groats, which is very close. Visited the Heritage Centre in Wick, which is one of our highlights. This is run by volunteers.
You are able to walk around Wick, easily, if that is what you are looking for. The building is old, leaking water, single pane windows. Room very small. I requested a quieter room if possible, which we did not get. This hotel caters to bus tours, many Australians. We felt as though we were out of place and completely ignored. The staff were friendly, but very busy. We toured Britain for two weeks, this is not one of our better choices in hotels.

Pros: Catering.
Cons: Showing signs of its age.
Location: Opposite a car park used by local boy racers in the evening. Didn't annoy us but can see it may annoy others.
Room was slightly dated but spotless. Staff were always polite and helpful. Restaurant and bar prices were reasonable and food quality superb. Facilities widely used by the locals which is always a good sign.

Norseman Hotel was taken over 9 days before our stay but you would not have thought so. The new owners and staff could not do enough for us and the cooked breakfast was one of the best I have ever had. They are keen to listen and asked for feedback.I would thoroughly recommend them. The hortel itself is being upgraded gradually but is comfortable and clean.
