Near the lake.

Had a wonderful stay. The rooms and linen were clean. Beautiful antebellum style hotel. Housekeeping did a great job. The beds and pillows are the best I've ever slept on. But, the staff, Wow! They are incredible. They made us feel like we were part of their family. Highly recommend this hotel.

Great review! We are one of Scottsboro's main attractions & were recently awarded a Beautification Award for our Antebellum designed hotel. Inside of all of our rooms we do have updated rooms (NEWLY RENNOVATED). The hotel does have many boat electrical hookups for fishermen. Our team is always dedicated to going above & beyond for our guests. Have a safe trip home.

Good stay

Well light parking lot. Semi boat friendly. Could use more parking where it is not necessary to unhook the boat.

Service and housekeeping need serious work!

We stayed there during Nascar Talladega weekend. The room was decent for the price. But when we returned from the race on the second day, we found our dirty towels, hand towels and wash rags (that we'd put on the bathroom floor) put over the shower curtain rod, side of the tub and laid flat on the sink counter as if they were clean. We called the desk and she apologized and said "Eww! We can bring you more towels..." It was too late by then and we were ready for bed. I found a note with the person's name that "cleaned" our room and wrote a personal note and explained that this is completely unacceptable on all levels. I took it to the desk the next morning and talked with them about it. I was apologized to again and was told "The hotel had cards in the room and they say that they're going "green" I asked "So putting dirty towels from a bathroom floor is acceptable cleaning procedure?!?!" She replied "Not at all, and I'll be sure to pass your letter along". They never offered a discount, offered to let me speak to the manager or anything. If they're not doing basic hotel housekeeping what else isn't being done for cleanliness? I guess you get what you pay for! I hope they take this and use it to retrain employees on basic cleanliness and health risk management.

My stay

I was awoken by loud noise outside around 8:45 am. Around 10am I got a knock at the door it was a carpet cleaning company checking to see if anyone was in the room. 30 mins later I get another knock at the door it's one of the staff members checking to see if anyone is in the room. At 10:59 I get another knock on my door it was the lady from the front desk telling me that checkout is at 11 when. When I got my room I spoke to her personally and got a 12 checkout. This is the second time o have stayed at this hotel and both times o have had nothing but trouble.

Pros: Its Clean
Cons: higher extra help for the morning breakfast rush
Location: walmart
Why I stay here?, every morning, the same thing, no food left and coffee pot is empty. Thank God For McDonalds Oh Yeah, don't leave snacks in your room, cleaning personal have a sweet tooth.

Nice Hotel, But always out of breakfast and coffee

Pros: not the missing full breakfast or invisible coffee
Cons: Choice hotels needs to overview this property
Location: not much, fishing is great
New owners are cheap on the breakfast and help, I stay here a lot on business because of the location, and have gotten tired of always finding the breakfast items gone, and coffee pots empty. The last owners received a platinum award for their great Quality service, the new owner has not kept up with the quality service and the hotel is suffering from this neglect. I wonder how long Choice Hotels will keep this hotel.

Older property but excellent nonetheless

This was originally a different hotel (a tier or two under its current form) long ago that has since been updated and upgraded. The hotel is not a central-hallway format, but the area is exceptionally well-lit and secure, so we weren't bothered by being able to walk right into the parking lot. In fact, it became sort of a convenience over the length of our stay. Scottsboro hosts a lot of professional fishing tournaments and one of them was going on while we were there, so most of our fellow guests were fishermen who went to bed early, were quiet and largely unobtrusive (beyond the fact their trucks/boats took up 2 parking spaces each). Like most hotels owned by the parent company of this one, the beds were new and comfortable. The pillows could be better. There was an issue with getting housekeeping to the room at a reasonable hour that arose out of, apparently, one of the staff quitting. The remaining staff did their best to accommodate us. The only true negative was the tub/shower combo was extremely high-walled, making it difficult for even a younger person to step into and out of the tub. An older person or one with a disability would have been very inconvenienced, as there were no grab handles nearby. Other than that, we loved it and will certainly stay here again.
