Flop house of Scranton,PA

Posted Jul 18, 2017
Pros: nothing
Cons: Total replacement.
Location: Located in a area of Scranton that is a business and industrial area. Nothing to do nearby except to get out of the area to look for something else.
Shoddy, poorly maintained. Wife in wheelchair-no elevator. Cramped quarters. Tiny toilet area. Everything worn out old and needs to be replaced. Fitted what is described as a" slum house ". Also no adequate parking. It was so bad, that we cancelled our reservation for the second night and found a room in Clarks Summit at the Ramadah Inn. I did not care if they kept the $70 for the 2nd night. It was worth $70 to just get out of there.

Hidden $1.50 charge and yucchy breakfast

Posted Jul 16, 2017
Pros: The only really good thing about Red Carpet is that it is a 3 minute walk to the Sambuca Grille, a good, moderately priced Italian restaurant.
Cons: In spite of the sneaky surcharge and with a modestly improved breakfast fare and facility, I would rate this OK+. If I HAD to come to Scranton again
Location: Other than Sambuca, very little.
This is your typical low-cost motel - $85 for 1 night's stay. The first thing that caught my attention was at sign-in. You are presented with a signin sheet containing 8 boxes to initial. I almost missed the one that said "There is a $1.50/day surcharge to be refunded at checkout if you do NOT use the room safe". I wonder how many patrons have caught this? The room generally meets the standards for $85/night: 2 twin beds, nonsmoking. Ample towels, good shower, decent bed and pillows; thin blanket, OK air conditioning unit (noisy as usual). Insufficient blackout curtains. Cable TV stopped working, probably because of rain? And than there was "continental breakfast": A dank room, no AC, weak coffee, damp, cloyingly sweet muffins, glazed doughnuts, breads, oj, packaged oatmeal and some dry cereals. There is a Dunkin Donut across the street, but we had a tight time schedule and ended up eating oatmeal. While we were eating, 2 guests came in, looked around and left without taking anything.

What a filthy disgusting place. I will never use Expedia again. They should check out hotels before listing them.
