The Barry Hall Apartments are in a good location next to Main rd in Sea Point where you can find shops, restaurants and a public swimming pool in walking distance. The rooms were spacious. One problem is the area for car parking. It's hardly enough space to park 4 cars (and if so, the car first in cant get out anymore).

African Home guesthouse is a superb place. Our room was lovely, with rustic decor and a brilliant shower room. Breakfast was great with all sorts of fruit, juices, breads and savouries. Cooked breakfast was offered too if you wanted it. Breakfast was taken outside on the terrace- weather permitting, which was fabulous when we were there. The pool and pool area was stunning, though we didn't really get the opportunity to use it.
Ralf and Stefan were very welcoming and booked trips for us and gave us suggestions of places to visit and eat. The area is safe to walk around in at night and there are plenty of restaurants close by. The staff were very attentive and we could have drinks by the pool at night when we returned from our meal.
I would thoroughly recommend this guesthouse to anyone travelling to Cape Town. The hosts and staff could not have been more helpful. Sea Point is a great location too.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable and I love the decor. My only suggestions are to at least add a curtain/blinds to the bathroom window and a coat rack of some sort. The room I stayed in was at ground level and the bathroom window did not have any blinds or frosted glass. If tall enough, someone passing by through the sevice entrance could see right into the bathroom and the shower. I walked into the bathroom one morning to brush my teeth and found someone cleaning the outside of the window, my privacy felt violated. I rigged a makeshift curtain, but would have rather liked the comfort of knowing that complete strangers could not peep into the bathroom. I would've liked to have had a coat rack or a coat-hook instead of just a closet with some hangers. Their breakfast was more than enough to help kick off a day of exploring Cape Town. The V&A Waterfront is a 30+ minute walk from the guesthouse by way of the promenade and about 10 minutes by taxi. There are plenty of restaurants and pubs within walking distance on the Main Road of Sea Point.

Stayed 4 nights (27th to 30th December) B&B well located (in quiet one-way street) for V&A centre, easy reach of CT centre and within walking distance of several eateries. Clean, tidy, air-conditioned room with fridge, TV (but with limited channels) and own small balcony. Good choice of breakfast which can be served inside or on the patio. free Wi-Fi. Helpful owners, Rob and Neil, who will assist with restaurant recommendations and for those unfamiliar with CT, places to visit. Excellent value.
Only downside was an occasional 'yappy dog' next door.

"Colonial-style hotel, great charm, a bit decadent"
This is an old colonial-style hotel. It is a bit decadent, but all right. If you carefully inspect your room, you will find that a few things are not perfect (chipped mirror, scratched furnitures, etc), but no major flaws. It lacks some attention to detail, although this critique is coming from a Swiss resident. The staff is generally helpful, although not always on top of things.
