Good location

Posted Oct 18, 2017 on Hotels
We were there in the off season, so I expect some maintenance to be taking place. But-we were very disappointed to get a note under our door saying the water would be off from 11am-1pm. Then we went to the pool to discover it was closed for maintenance also (after it was open the day before). The hotel also tried to "double bill" us, as we had paid online & then we were charged again for the 2nd night of our room. We are still not sure this issue has been resolved, but will follow up with our credit card company.

Mismanagement and construction

Posted Oct 10, 2017 on Hotels
Room Service was mediocre due to mismanagement, and the manager was fired during our visit.

Nice hotel

Posted Oct 9, 2017
Last time I stayed here I stayed on the second floor and was very pleased with my room. This time I got a room on the first floor and wasn't as impressed. Our room was just cleaned and the odor from the chemicals were very overwhelming. We had to air our the room due to the fumes. The phone in our room didn't work which isn't a big deal as everybody now has a cell phone to use anyways. The bathroom was nice with a huge mirror and the nice countertops but the toilet kept running all night and there was a mold problem. The ceiling had black mold and around the tub had black mold. The location of hotel is perfect and you are a short walk from the main strip to do shopping and get a bite to eat. Also a big plus was the hotel pool is 24 hours for adults 18 and over. Th hot tub is small but if you go later at night there isn't a fight to soak and relax. Overall if stay here again. I think I saw a sign that they are planning to remodel so I'm sure the rooms with be a lot nicer soon.

Worst experience

Posted Oct 6, 2017 on Orbitz
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: Get new maid service and new front desk people that have some customer service. Oh and have a manager available at all times.
Location: Locate was Seaside, OR and Seaside has a ton of stuff to do.
I read the reviews so I knew to arrive later than 3:00pm check in time. I arrived at 4:15pm and they told me that the 3rd floor hasn't been touched. He told me to check back at 5:30pm. Mind you I have 2 kids (4,9). I came back at 5:30pm and the room I booked was not available. I booked one with a balcony and he told me that there were no available rooms as they had already been given out. But he couldn't refund me. So he got us into another room and it was dirty. The toilet looked like a bomb went off in it and we had to have the maid come back. The floor wasn't vacuumed and who knows if the sheets were actually clean. The front desk guy was not very nice. He did give us a late check out of 1:30pm but didn't note it in our file so the maid walked in on us and then we got a call from the front desk. Worst place to stay. The breakfast is free for a reason. Don't stay here. Worst service and cleanliness ever. Especially for the price I paid for the room. Also, of course there was no manager available. Ridiculous!!

RoadTrip2017

Posted Oct 2, 2017
Very clean and tidy throughout the hotel, which is situated within easy walking distance of the centre of town where all the shops and restaurants are situated. The room was spacious and very clean with all the normal amenities. We had a river view room which had a balcony where we could sit and relax with a drink in the evening, overlooking the river. I would recommend this hotel if staying in Seaside.

Great Location! Rooms & baths need deep cleaning.

Posted Oct 2, 2017
The hotel is in great location. Walking distance to shops, restaurants, beach and more. Lobby and breakfast area were clean; however, I booked two rooms and they were quite dusty, windows and air conditioner vents were dirty. Bathtubs needed a deep cleaning and there appeared to be mold on top of ceiling and wallpaper. Otherwise, the rooms were comfortable.

Service is Underwhelming & Smell is Overwhelming

Posted Sep 19, 2017
This hotel room was unclean when we arrived. We were checked in on time and the room was still not ready. When we reviewed the room, the toilet bowl had not been scrubbed in what seemed like months. The sheets had hair and crumbs all over and on the pillows. There were what appeared to be urine stains on the carpet and furniture, and the entire room smelled awful. The carpet had not been vacuumed and the bathroom floors were spotted in yellow coloring. When we informed the staff at the check in counter, he said "It's a pet room. There aren't that many available." We were very upset that the norm is to not service pet rooms, as well as the other non-pet-friendly rooms. We certainly live with our pet, and have high expectations for pet friendly hotels. We feared having our stay there because when we asked if they treated their rooms for fleas and ticks they said " Ugh... I don't know." We asked them to have a manager look at the room and they said they would do this only to not inform us when the room was ready again. In about an hour and a half from being checked in we called Expedia to discuss our options and they encouraged us to check out while they rerouted us elsewhere. When we checked out of the Holiday Inn after having Expedia book us elsewhere, the guy at the counter decided to unload his frustration about how understaffed they were and that the hotel would be remodeled in a month with hopes of "better expectations." We did get a refund. Thank you Expedia!

Dirty room but comfortable beds

Posted Sep 18, 2017 on Hotels
When we arrived for the 4pm check in, our room wasn't available. We found out that they only have 2 housekeepers for 84 rooms, and it has been an issue the entire summer. Once we got into our room, it hadn't been cleaned well. There was dog food on the ground, mold on the bathroom ceiling, peeling wallpaper in the bathroom as well. There was clearly some sort of water damage previously. Also looked like the toilet hadn't been cleaned. There was soap residue left from the previous occupant in the bathtub. I always bring Lysol wipes with me because in general hotel rooms aren't perfectly clean. I use them on handles, phones, and remotes. This time I chose to wipe down the bathtub, and a lot of grime came off. The positive is comfortable beds, and to me that is the most important thing when staying in a hotel. The noise level between rooms isn't bad at all, but people constantly slamming their hotel room doors got old after awhile, especially when you're trying to sleep. Literally every few minutes someone was slamming a door.

Don't expect your room to be ready

Posted Sep 18, 2017
Pros: Had lots of seating in the lobby which was needed since you couldn't get a room.
Cons: When you have prepaid reservations, you should be prepared for people to show up and want their room.
Made a prepaid, refundable, non cancellable reservation 2 months in advance of visit. Check in time was 3:00. We arrived at 4:45 and was told our room wasn't ready and that we should go have dinner and they would call when it was ready. At 6:45 we called the hotel, they let it ring about 10 times and then picked it up and hung up on us. Went back to the hotel, now there is an entire lobby full of people whose rooms are also not ready. A Holiday Inn platinum member mentioned she had been waiting over 4 hours for her room. Desk clerk said our room was still not ready, had no idea when or IF it would be ready and shrugged his shoulders. Really? luckily we had booked through Expedia who was fabulous in finding another hotel for us, and got our money back. However, if they had no intention of giving us a room, they should have said so up front. After 8 hours of driving with road closures, road construction and detours, all we really wanted was to get some rest. Will make sure every one I know hears about our treatment. Normally Holiday Inn is a really good choice, but this facility takes the prize for the worst experience I've ever had, which is saying something since I traveled 40 weeks a year for 20 years.
