This is no taco truck, it's a bus. Tables inside. Family run. Festive. Great tacos. Kids love it. Super Guppy on display this past weekend. It was in town to deliver the crew compartment of the full-sized Space Shuttle Trainer to the museum. This is the only remaining Super Guppy still in service (of the original 5), and is operated by NASA to ferry parts. Super Guppy on display this past weekend. The wild and twisted limbs of this Japanese Maple were quite eye catching, they are magnificent little trees. Take a flight with a few friends. Just finished a first session with the Trover team here.... Learning to float, turn, rise. Super fun. About $50 pp. If you listened to rock music in the 1980's, you might recognize this view. Though in that case the tail number would have been Restored cockpit of Boeing's first 727. Notice the third seat, for the flight engineer - a position which todays more automated planes no longer require. Back in the day, the flight engineer was responsible for much of the plane's mechanical operation, including engines, fuel, electronics, hydraulics, lights, HVAC and more. It was considered an entry level position before you could graduate to first officer or pilot. The interior of the first 727 was restored to its 1980's appearance. The plane was retired in 1991, so it was easier to restore what was there rather than conjuring up some 1960's era interior. Over the course of service, this plane ferried more than 3 million passengers and generated more than $300 million in revenue for United - a pretty good return on the $4.4 million purchase price. You won't find ashtrays on too many flights these days! This 1980's era 727 interior was a hoot to check out. It's hard to imagine, but some 48,000 passengers sat in each of these seats. Well, not these particular seats - I wonder how long a typical airline seat lasts before it needs to be replaced? The final flight of the first Boeing 727. This plane first flew as a prototype in 1963 before being delivered to United Airlines, who flew it over 48,000 times until retiring it in 1991. A few weeks ago, after 25 years of restoration, the plane made it's final flight from Everett to Boeing Field, where it will be on permanent display at the Museum of Flight.
For its final 15-minute flight numerous safety precautions were employed, including a low flight path, keeping the landing gear down, and deploying the wing flaps. I suppose the less monkeying around you do, they less likely things are to go wrong. This is at a Japanese Garden just south of downtown Seattle. My picture of this place blows, but you gotta believe me that this is no ordinary bowling alley. Most bowling shoe rentals you want to put on rubber gloves to handle. The shoes here were like a new Zappo's arrival. Everything is clean, lively and smiling service. Great for a kid party or adults. Decent food at nightclub-like lane seating and Manny's on tap.
