Amazing view from The Golf Club at Newcastle. Located not that far from Seattle, it's well known for it's high quality golf, service, facilities, and of course the amazing view of Seattle, and the great northwest! There was a forest fire in British Columbia, Canada a few years ago and the smoke from the fires caused this weird haze over the Seattle area. The unusual phenomena created a natural filter that made the sun turn into a bright red/orange ball. It also happened to be a clear day so I drove up to the Golf Course to capture this unique visual before the sun disappeared behind the Olympic Mountains. Today's sunset from my bus stop. I've been trying to find a fun way to photograph the art: Blue Angels lining up all six-planes for a pass. This is a cooler photo than it looks, as it's taken a few miles from the flight line where the pilots are just coming together. By the time they reach the flight line there will be no gaps in the formation. Foggy morning are my favorite. #foggy Nice little spot :) View of Downtown Seattle from Newcastle. Used a 300mm to zoom in close. #BestOf5 This was my first bibimbap experience... And it was awesome. Don't expect a shiny modern restaurant space, though. This is definitely one of the older ones. Oh, and all this was about $10 AFTER tip & tax. (This was lunch. Dinner might be a little more expensive.) #lunchtime Seattle is also known as the Emerald City but today's sunset made it more of the Golden City. #SeattleSummer Olympic Mountains as seen from Newcastle Golf Club #goldenhour Apparently this is the space available for weddings. There's a tent/hall next to where I was standing when I took this. I just like it because the view is amazing! Watching Downtown Seattle while the sun sets is one of the highlights of Seattle Summer. This is just one of those days. #SeattleSummer Miniature golf done right at the Rusty Putter at The Golf Club at Newcastle. It's an 18-hole putting green that was designed by golf course architect Robert E. Cupp. For $15 a round, you can experience the amazing Newcastle views of Seattle and Lake Washington, while playing on a legit putting course. ^^. #kidsfun #golf A Coca-Cola Freestyle - mix your own soda from more than 125 flavors, including novelties such as vanilla coke and grape sprite. The cool space-age cabinetry was designed by Pininfarina, which also designs Ferraris and Maseratis. Surely this is a precursor to a Star Trek replicator. Favorite Dog Park #travel #adventure #beach #nature Beautiful view of Seattle and and Lake Washington whether dining or golfing. Awesome view of Seattle! At the Factoria Market Place Classic Car Show. The burger, shake and fries look real enough to make my mouth water! Nice views! #troverdetour Hood ornament from a 1934 Pontiac Convertible, as seen at the Old Rides Car Club show. I almost want one of these to mount on my hood - so much cooler than a boring BMW roundel.
About 50 cars turned up for the show, including a number of 1930s era restorations, 1950s era large-finned classics, and even a few more recent novelties like a 1990s Ferrari Testarossa. View the complete show schedule at So one day I am driving to the gym and I can see in the distance red clouds and a beautiful rainbow, I greatly regret I didn't have my DSLR camera, but the iPhone did a great job. Samamish lake is perfect for a Sunday evening swim with your friends, clean and beautiful
#LifeAtExpedia An abandoned shed along the Coal Creek Park trail, perhaps dating back the coal mining days of the late 19th century. #abandoned Stroll through this lovely fern covered gorge on a 3mi (4.8km) point-point hike. The trail is well groomed and barked in many areas but can become sloppy at times. Sturdy bridges cross the creek and small culverts keep the runoff from covering the trail. This is a great little nature hike in the middle of city. Fun water spray playground for the kiddies. Spouting whales, sneezing dragons, spitting frogs and more. Water is on Memorial Day through Labor Day, 8am - 8pm. Nearby jungle gym forts, a climbing wall and grassy lawns complete the scene. Where else can your kid 'drive' a Peterbilt truck? This children's museum has good hours and easy parking to boot. Pretty decent conveyer belt sushi. Better than Blue C Sushi in my opinion, and cheaper. For ~$10 you can get your fill of various rolls and nigiri. You won't be blown away, but it's fast and easy. Surprisingly good sushi spot. As usual, I recommend sitting at the sushi bar and ordering directly from the chefs. If you want a sashimi plate at Musashi's, you can order their chirashi with no rice. :)
Reminder: They don't take cards! Check & cash only. Coal Creek, as it winds through a gorge in south Bellevue. A fun hiking trail runs alongside the creek for 3mi (4.8km) and passes by the scant remains of an old mining operation. Hike it from the southeast trailhead to head downhill. This library has a cute little garden and at least one (memorial?) fountain. :) Funny sign at the trailhead. This is a great little hike in south Bellevue - 3mi (4.8km) point to point through a fern-covered gorge along Coal Creek. Pretty awesome area to work/play on your laptop or read. Watching Downtown Seattle while the sun sets is one of the highlights of Seattle Summer. This is just one of those days. #SeattleSummer Sweet & Sour Crispy Fish. Delish. Tiny little park for a little piece of mind. #reflection #lake #Colorful
Love fall, my favorite season! caught this great color scene while walking in Lakemont Park today. Great place for kids to spend hours playing at the water table, in the treehouse, with the wind tunnels or at the big train table...and if you get a hand stamp, you can eat at any of the nearby restaurants and come back for more fun! Polish candy!! They also sell a bunch of other stuff, but I decided to focus on the candy because I have more childhood memories linked to candy than meat, cheese, caviar, etc. ;) (I guess these are or were super popular in Russia.) Nice place to walk around. Not as peaceful as it looks, though.... Kids were running to this swing when I took this photo. ;) #Delicious
Had a couple of beers with some friends at the Wooly Toad Pub in Newcastle on a beautiful summer evening. Birthday dinner!! Had an incredible miso ramen and a nice cold Asahi Super Dry. My favorite! Quick and easy Chinese for lunch or dinner. Locally owned gourmet ice cream company makes a number of summer festival stops around the Pacific Northwest, including last weekend's Strawberry Festival in Bellevue. If you don't find them at the fair, you can pick up hand-packed pints at local grocers such as Central Co-op's Madison Market or Whole Foods. Nice park for a walk. We saw some chickens! Sadly most of the farm animals were hiding/indoors this time, so we didn't see any goats or horses or pigs. It's always fun browsing thru old records. Great place for books, too! Pork Rice with Sausage and Fried Egg. Yummy. While hanging out at one of my favorite spots on the eastside (the Wooly Toad pub), I caught this hawk with Seattle and the Olympics in the background. Great spot to catch views on a nice day. Not used to this chirashi presentation... happy to This was taken last night from the parking lot of Lake Hills Baptist Church in Bellevue “The day before the Super Blue Blood Moon” Rent a mobile playroom for your kid's next birthday party (the bus remains parked while the kids play). The Tumblebus can entertain 10-17 kids and the rental fee includes two teachers to watch the children and lead them in games and activities. Available for events throughout the greater Seattle area.
Tip: Throwing a bigger party? Rent both Tumblebuses! Why is it that a $4 ear of roasted corn tastes so good on a nice summer day? I'll typically wait out a 30-minute line for one of these buttery treats, but as fortune would have it the Crossroads Strawberry Festival wasn't so crowded this year and we had our corn in under a minute. Check it out at the next festival, and don't forget to apply the seasoning. If you try one thing at Genki, try the Squid Shot! I loved the squid and the warm broth it was in. Two words: old school. Est in 1967, this greasy spoon is an institution on the E side. I've only had breakfast (exactly what you'd expect BTW), but they do serve lunch and dinner (I can only imagine- bet they have a great burger!). Have a Denver omelette and hasbrowns, with a sausage link side, for old times' sake. Take your kids! Love me some Old school. Fun new bouncy house place at Crossroads Mall...but it's more than bouncy houses! Lots of moving parts including #Colorful
More great fall color at Lakemont Park. You can get rice or veggies with your teriyaki. I think next time I'll go for just the teriyaki chicken w/ salad because it's a huge serving and I didn't like the steamed veggies... they tasted too much like a bad frozen veggie & mushroom mix... Autumn.
Did you know KCLS has a bunch of ebooks and audio books? I usually download ebooks to my phone because I spend more time with it than my iPad.
The wifi is also pretty fast/reliable and you can print 75 free b&w (or 25 color) pages per week (if you have a KCLS library card). Fugu vs King Crab death match at Tuna House. Less than a mile for my apt. I'm very grateful for this place. Happy trails!
#lifeatexpedia The last light of a summer day... the fog is lifting!
View of Bellevue from the Expedia HQ Stop in for quick breakfast or hang out and enjoy the comfy lodge-like setting. The Matcha Green Tea Blast keeps me going all morning long. Enjoying the view looking over Bellevue and Seattle. Couldn't resist. #lifeatexpedia Fine little Thai restaurant - quick and tasty. Great lunch option in Factoria. The larb gai (chicken salad) is a great choice for a lighter meal. Chirashi bowl
