Nestled among trees in a park setting

Posted Nov 27, 2016
Pros: Staff, parkmlike setting.
Cons: Some maintenance.
Location: Walking in the nearby U of W, shopping at the U Village, restful setting.
Close to the University of Washington & shopping. Quiet, secluded with great staff. You'll enjoy the difference.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with Talaris. We are proud of our grounds, and every time someone appreciates it, it makes us even more determined to make sure that it maintains it's integrity. We are located in a great area and it sounds like you took advantage of it. For your future reference, we also have bikes to loan for riding around the neighborhood and exploring the trails, and the nature surrounding the area. Thank you also for complimenting the staff and breakfast, two of our featured top quality elements.

Best hotel experience in Seattle!

Posted Sep 30, 2016
Pros: Everything !!!
Cons: Not one thing!
Location: Its proximity to shopping and eating experiences in the U district is unmatched!
There are no words to describe the Talaris experience. By far the best breakfast cooked by its own chef, with fresh bacon and eggs, and fresh fruit and whole grain healthy foods. I am very picky when it comes down to the so called continental cuisine by various hotel chains. They are not in the same league when it comes to this delicious and nutritious fare. The friendliest staff, who are warm and welcome. The housekeeping staff who ask you when do you want us to come back to set your room up for the night. The privacy, the privacy of their location, and beautiful natural environment, I believe is unmatched by far. Oh yes, you can go to one of the big chain hotels, but for my family its only the Talaris!

Thank you for taking the time to write your wonderful review of Talaris. We are so pleased that you captured all of the nuances we are so proud of, in one paragraph! Your comments regarding breakfast will be passed on to Chef Peter, who works hard to ensure a variety of foods and hopefully a choice for every dietary need. Our housekeeping staff will go to great lengths to ensure they work around your needs and do not interrupt your tranquility. Thank you for mentioning them. In fact, your compliments to the entire staff will be shared with them. They will appreciate knowing their efforts are appreciated.

A comfortable oasis within the urban environment.

Posted Sep 27, 2016
Pros: Location, ambiance, staff, breakfast
Cons: ventilation system
We found Talaris an enjoyable experience overall (see below). We give it the highest marks for its location close to the university, the lovely grounds and ambiance, the friendly and helpful staff, and the superb breakfast. Our one criticism is the ventilation system for the room we occupied. Part of a four-plex, the air was centrally operated with no separate control in the room. As a result we periodically received cold air, then warm air at frequent intervals. It was not a comfortable experience and clearly contributed to the colds we left with.

A Dump!

Posted Sep 27, 2016
Pros: The breakfast was decent, although the coffee terrible and full of grounds.
Cons: Pretty much everything.
Location: The grounds are nice, but very overgrown. We were in Seattle to visit family, but have visited all the usual tourist spots over the years.
We have stayed at this hotel several times over the last 4 years, and it keeps deteriorating to the point that we will not stay at Talaris again. The grounds are lovely but need major attention. All the walkways are patched, uneven and dangerous. The carpets in the hallways and rooms are filthy and haven't been cleaned in years. Our room had a very noisy heat/AC unit that interrupted our sleep. The faucet on the shower was difficult to operate and the drain on the tub was blocked and slow .

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Talaris. We regret that your stay was less than you expected, especially since you have been with us before. Talaris is in a transition phase, where we see there are projects that need to be completed and it is a matter of prioritizing them, as to not increase our rates to help to cover these phased projects, As for your coffee, it appears a simple brewing mistake but we do apologize it was not caught and you were poured the unacceptable beverage. We do have a clean property, and our housekeeping works hard to ensure cleanliness in paramount. There are outdated carpets and some rooms have older furniture, but the rooms are cleaned and sanitized.

Good value in Seattle

Posted Sep 22, 2016
Pros: The breakfast was very well-done.
Cons: The landscaping needed improvement as well as the outside of the buildings.
Location: The conference center is in the University of Washington area. There are several restaurants within walking distance.
The conference center was definitely dated but the complimentary breakfast was very well done. It reminded me of a retreat I went on in the early nineties. The landscaping definitely needs work and the outside of the buildings could be spruced up as well but it was a good value for the money.

Great stay for the family.

Posted Sep 12, 2016
Pros: Just about everything.
Location: Located just east of the UW campus, it was easy to get anywhere we wanted and had great restaurants and shopping close by.
My wife, son, and I spent a couple of nights here and totally enjoyed it. Breakfast was great, beds were soooo comfortable, staff was amazing, and the grounds inspired leisurely walks in both morning and evening. What a gem! Couldn't ratings bars to work, so: Hotel Staff - 5, Facilities, Condition - 5, Room Cleanliness - 5, Room Comfort - 5. Excellent experience! Well, I did get the bars to work!

Pretty, quiet and convenient location close to UW, U-village; easy access to 520 to Redmond, Bellevue; I5 to downtown Seattle. Room a little dated but clean, comfortable. Breakfast included. Enjoyed morning walk along the pond, grass, trees.

Quiet, peaceful Conference Center with Nice rooms

Posted Sep 10, 2016
Location: Near the U District, Sand Point and Seattle area.
I was looking for a reasonably priced place to stay close to the U District. I had visited the Talaris before as a guest of the conference center, but had never stayed over. So glad I chose to come back as a hotel guest! Nothing fancy, in fact there are aged carpets in several areas and the rooms need some updating. That said, the outside is really pretty (large pond and walking trails nearby. Your stay includes a fantastic breakfast and the staff is top notch! I would highly recommend the Talaris to anyone considering one night or longer.

Excellent value for money option in Seattle

Posted Aug 25, 2016
Pros: quiet location
Cons: dated rooms, more egg dishes at breakfast
If you want a good deal, good quality, but don't necessarily need to be downtown, this is a good option here. We paid 200 a night, whereas most places downtown charged 300+. The room was large and clean, a bit dated perhaps. The location is very quiet. had a great night sleep. Breakfast is included and has a good selection, incl eggs, bacon, waffles, fruit. I would stay there again.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your Talaris experience. We appreciate this more than you know. We are pleased to see that you had an appreciation for all the elements that we pride ourselves on. This will be shared with the staff so that they know their efforts do not go unnoticed. We are a conference center/hotel that was built in 1968 and because of the unique architecture of the construction, we hesitate to make any structural changes, and do our best to keep the rooms cleaner than you would expect, and put softer, modern updates within the rooms themselves. We certainly can address the issue of your desire for more egg choices on the breakfast table!
