Meander down Juanita Bay Park's boardwalks to discover amazing wildlife and views of Lake Washington Turtles and duckies lounging on a log Pretty sure the best time to walk through this downtown Kirkland park is... October. I stopped by because a friend recommended their macarons. The earl grey macaron was good, but in the future I'll come back for the delicious Intelligentsia coffee and the amazing raspberry yogurt. Note: I saw some I'm really digging this shop! The sign next to it says Really like Flowering Dogwoods on quiet Saturday morning. It's Peach-O-Rama season at Met Market! These are some of the best peaches you've ever tasted. Check out http://peachorama.com for location-specific availability in the Seattle area. Charcuterie platter! #delicious #foodiefinds Another nice place for a walk. :) I love this place. Coffee, pastries, sammies, beer and wine. Funky and comfy vibe. I picked up a spicy seafood salad at Hanuman Thai Cafe and enjoyed it at the park. The view is much better at the park!! :) #sunset #pnw Kirkland's waterfront. My first time visiting. Tall Ships have arrived: The Lady Washington and The Hawaiian Chieftain make their annual call at Carillion Point in Kirkland, WA! Vintage drive-in serving local beef burgers and tasty milkshakes. Get it to go or dine off a tray attached to your door. Open till 1am on weekends, midnight otherwise. A rare snail sighting at Juanita Bay Park (mostly slugs). He's kinda cute. Come here if you're in Kirkland and need to escape the city for a little while... :) Wonderful new Kirkland spot :) At Carillion Point. Sunset experiences and waterfront walks ate amazing! I miss their grilled cheese with tomato jam, but the caprese sandwich (this is a I have a thing for railroad tracks....i think it might be that they always seem to go on forever. That the destination is not always clear but the ride is always enjoyable as the scenery passes you by. 😌❤🚂🚊

My favorite kind. #lifeatexpedia Looks like most people come to this park for the playground, but I like the little paths! I shall recommend it. Cactus is such a good restaurant! Holiday sunset over Lake Washington... December sun in the Northwest is the best gift of the season!
#BestOf5 Absolutely #delicious seafood skewers offered by Beachhouse Bar & Grill! Peaceful sunrise on the boardwalk. Keep your eyes peeled for ducks, heron, turtles (and the occasional raccoon appearance!) You simply can't leave DERU without a piece of coconut cake. It's pricey but worth it, one piece feeds 4!
#lifeatexpedia Great service and good chirashi. I like that the bowl has two sections - one for rice and one for fish. blue sky in July Unusual to stumble upon these guys in Kirkland. Sashimi at a wonderful new sushi restaurant in downtown Kirkland! Black Friday 2014 :) The old entrance to Kirkland Junior High still stands at Heritage Park. Yum! Warm up with delicious (and pretty) cocoa at Rococo in downtown Kirkland. Cute little gourmet food shop. Nice people.
I need to try their Black Squid Ink Pasta!! Moons of Jupiter: Pepperoni, mushrooms and Italian sausage! #delicious Snowy day at Juanita Beach Park in Kirkland. Great place to go for a walk or play outdoors (playground, picnic areas, lake access). Love the sidecar at Cactus. Sweet, refreshing and delish! Great food (sandwiches, High 5 Pies, sweet/savory pastries, macarons) and coffee! Not so awesome wifi (and each password only lasts 60 minutes), but you might be able to use the yoga studio wifi. Loud. Can you spot the heron? I love these birds! Some art near the park :) Sometimes classic car shows take over the Kirkland waterfront parking lot... Bring food or prepare to order delivery or ask for some pretzels... enjoy some Washington beer... consider exploring the indoor mini-golf course. Dog friendly!
Brewer's Night most Tuesdays (raffle prizes!!) and Geeks Who Drink on Wednesdays.
I love Flatstick Pub. Beautiful place to enjoy the landscape and cloudscape Scallops! #foodporn #delicious Trellis Cheese Selection! #foodporn #delicious Sunset scooter ride brought me here. Just me and Penelope 😊 Blooms #springfun Downtown Kirkland!
Location bonus: good wifi and tasty coffee :) Great new Hawaiian coffee spot! This is their Aloha Mocha. There's a little forest trail next to the park. I'll have to go back when I have more time to explore! Saw this delightful whale tale sculpture at #Kirklandsummerfest. If I had an extra $54k burning a hole in my pocket I would buy it. I love the way it casts a shadow. Summer outdoor movies, great venue on Lake Washington. Lovely park... especially when there are very few people walking around. :) 8am on 12/16/16 Salmon Tacos are yummy Excellent use of $25! signage at Juanita Bay Park helps visitors identify wildlife (birds, turtles, fish...) Fun big toy at Houghton Beach Park Big library with plenty of quiet spaces that get natural light. Free wifi. Good place to meet students if you're a tutor. Cool house across the street from the park! I was tempted to make the picture black-and-white so it would look like a house from a movie about a haunted house. It definitely made me think of Stephen King's Rose Red. Nice seating area by Scott Burton on the walking path along the water through NOAA (see Sound Garden post). Would be great on a warm day! Great new dog-friendly beer spot in downtown Kirkland! They only serve beer made in Washington (guessing the wine is also local) and don't serve food, so you have to bring your own (food) or order some from a near-by business. They frequently have brewer's nights on Tuesdays (info on Facebook) and Geeks Who Drink trivia on Thursdays. No kids allowed because they don't serve food and... oh, yeah... mini golf! #wabeer #geekswhodrink
July 2014 update: They now have a Molly's mini-fridge with sandwiches and salads. Not sure if this means they can now welcome kids. This is my happy place 💕🌊
#kirkland #lakewashington #pnw #roadtrip #summer #sunset #dock #westcoastbestcoast Good chirashi! There's a new downtown Kirkland poké spot! When the weather is nice I prefer eating my food at Marina Park. ⛵️ #foodiefinds Home of the famous Dutch Baby! Great pancakes, crepes and other breakfast favorites. Really good service. Worth the wait if it's busy. Magnuson Park is the best place to enjoy the view of Lake Washington with your best friend. Yummy Pho in Downtown Kirkland. Yes, fish & chips, but don't miss the rootbeer float! Get it to go and eat across the street at Juanita Beach Park. Spring morning in Juanita Bay Park. View of what's left of the old docks in Juanita Bay. Cowgirl Brownie with Chipotle brittle at Cactus. Really good gyros. Cash only. Wonky hours. #Localgem Hip coffee and wine bar in Juanita Village. Crispy Veg Egg Rolls My non Pierre Hermé or Ladurée choice for macarons: Lady Yum in Kirkland and Fresh Flour on Phinney Ridge. A nice place to relax. I also brought sushi from Oto Sushi (Juanita location). ☀️ 7pm on Thursday, 6/24/14. Great rugby pitch in Seattle. Makanouchi! #sushi #sashimi #tempura #foodporn #delicious I'll take a 2 pounder of your 4 alarm hot chicken wings please! #lifeatexpedia A glass of a white blend pairs well with a plate of steamed clams and sausage. So delicious! #lifeatexpedia Spinney Homestead Park in December. There's a playground to the left. 🌅 DERU is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant serving brunch, salads, sandwiches, and pizza. Everything is delicious, you can't go wrong!
#lifeatexpedia Good coffee joint. Dog friendly patio with comfy adirondack chairs outside. There's a great over-the-water boardwalk at Juanita Beach. Delicious acai bowls and a photo booth! 😍
They started as a #foodtruck on Market St and recently moved to this brick and mortar location. They don't have any seating available inside but maybe they'll have some outdoor tables next spring/summer. (They still have the food truck and plan to use it for events.)
#foodiefinds Burger was amazing
#lifeatexpedia Neat little shop on Market and 7th - wine tasting, art, wine 101 classes and event space. Yes, downtown Kirkland has a Ben & Jerry's...but I'm a fan of Baskin Robbins up the hill. How can you go wrong with 31 flavors? Discovered these delicious macarons from Lilli-Pilli at the Kirkland Wednesday Market. Tasty! Now available at your local pharmacy: cat-flavored medicine. Or maybe it's fur ball flavor. Some of the art at the 20th annual international miniatures show. Incredible tiny paintings. Great burgers, be sure to try the onion rings and milkshakes too! I've never seen him but rumor has it Bill Gates frequents this joint from time to time.
