Little Gem

Posted Feb 4, 2016
Perfect boutique hotel nestled amongst the red rocks with an easy walk to uptown Sedona. The staff went above beyond to make you feel special. Great food at Salt Rock and hot tub was just riggt after a day's hike. Definitely recommend and will definitely return.

This Hotel is in a Deep Ravine

Posted Feb 1, 2016
Pros: It's in Sedona
Cons: Everything
Location: It sets in a major ravine. If you don't mind hiking up a steep grade (no lights at night) then you will find you are close to the shops + restaurants.
The best thing I can say about this hotel is that it's in Sedona. The staff is friendly and helpful, but the compliments stop there. The rooms are average at best, lacking in the amenities one would expect in a 4 star hotel. The location sucks, as the hotel sets in a deep ravine. For the outrageous $27 daily resort fee (on top of already over-priced room rates) you receive (forced) valet parking, a complimentary cup of coffee in the morning (no breakfast food of any kind) and wi-fi that doesn't work. I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone.

Amara Resort

Posted Jan 17, 2016
Amara is a great place to relax and enjoy the beauty of Sedona. Convenient to both outdoor activities and local art galleries. The restaurant is excellent. Helpful and friendly staff. I would stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Sedona.

Snooty Front Desk & Concierge

Posted Jan 13, 2016
I love Kimpton hotels. Amara is a beautiful property with great amenities. Loved the heated pool and hot tub with the mountains as the backdrop. Best hot chocolate I've ever had at the welcome hour. Games in the lounge area and treated myself to a massage at the spa. I also stayed at the Fire & Sky in Scottsdale a day before and it equally had the great amenities. However, I found Amara front desk & concierge to be very snooty and cold. Unlike Fire & Sky who was so welcoming and friendly from the minute I walked up to the door and met the valet and the front desk. My teenage daughter who traveled with me also sensed the difference in attitude between the two locations. I was further put off when I was being proactive to inform the front desk that my spa treatment scheduled on the day we leave may cause us to be a few minutes late for check out. Brian, Director of "Whatever" was rude and abrupt only to firmly imply that checkout was at noon while the other two at the front desk looked at me like I had 3 heads. I wasn't asking for a late checkout, I was just letting them know that I may be about 10 minutes late. After they noticed my annoyance, they all said ok no problem. I later confronted the concierge and let her know how their uppity attitude was not necessary. She coldly apologized and gave a lame excuse. Amara is in Sedona. A place known for its energy. The front desk & concierge needs to practice and exude more of the positive energy and not the negative.

Location, location, location….Hidden gem along Oak Creek with spectacular views of Cleopatra formation and snoopy rock. Close enough to the uptown restaurants and shops but feels miles away from the hustle and bustle. The guest services team will take you to the top of the drive or anywhere within a mile of the property. Warm regards, Patrick Gaskin General Manager

Walking distance to uptown Sedona. Shuttle to take you elsewhere. Food excellent and "vibe" relaxing with a hint of luxury.
