Not very flexible at all

Posted May 18, 2017
I was placed in a terrible room and they could not move us until the second night, despite the manager saying they were only 80% occupied

Thank you for providing some feedback regarding your stay with us. This type of scenario is always difficult. As this was the room type that was booked for you, it is what we need to assume you have requested. I am unsure about the comment of availability as if we have the ability to move rooms to accommodate a guest's request, we will do everything in our power to do so. If booking through a third party, I always suggest calling the hotel directly afterwards to confirm which type of room was reserved for you. Thank you,

Staff was very courteous and helpful and went out of their way to insure we had a pleasant stay. The hotel was beautiful and close to nature. We really enjoyed walking by the creek. The hotel restaurant was very good.

Very enjoyable stay. The profile of the hotel explains it very well. I'd like to say a difference maker was the staff. We brought up our dogs and my wife was celebrating a birthday, the staff was on point. My wife LOVED that everytime she went by a staff member they all seemed to know it was her birthday. Great trip, beautiful scenery, look forward to going back!

Amazing stay

Posted May 2, 2017
Pros: The spa, the pool, wine hour
Location: devil's bridge trail
The only regret was that we were only here for one night! I'd like to share our pleasant experience with the staffs and overall amenities during our stay. We were able to return to the hotel (after we checked out) to use the steam room and shower after our 3-hour hike at devil's bridge. It was a big bonus as we were covered in red sand and had to catch our 5-hour flight back to NYC that same day. The steam room wasn't super big but we were the only people there during the time we visited (830am and 230pm). They also had a relaxation lounge that you can hang out after the steam room with very delicious honey tea and nuts. Staffs were very nice and helpful! The place was very clean. We didn't get to make any massage appointment as they were booked up. So book them ahead of time! The food at the restaurant was delicious and well priced. I enjoyed my egg benedict for breakfast and fish tacos for lunch. My friend really liked her oatmeal. Lastly, the jacuzzi and pool were added bonus for relaxation after hiking or great for a morning swim. The whole place was so beautiful and perfect that we were very sad to leave. Will return again!!

Well we wish we could have kept you longer! Shorter stay, yes - but it sounds like you were able to experience much of what makes Sedona and the Amara such a special place. We can't wait for your return!

Gorgeous views, great spa and pool, great location

Posted Apr 30, 2017
Pros: See above
Cons: See above.
Location: Views. Pool. Spa.
Amara has a lot going for it, but it has some challenges as well. The hotel is laid out so as to have views of the red rocks, but to get to our room, we had to meander through a series of doors and up and down several sets of steps. The front desk staff was nice but did not really reach out to go the extra mile. When we arrived on Easter Sunday, there were many piles of dirty dishes still left in the halls. When we got up the next day, we called because the dishes fro the room next door had still not been removed. We called for coffee and muffins from room service and they delivered many cups of coffee saying there were no clean pots. WHen we shared some of this with our valet, he followed up, and when we returned to the room, there was a note of apology and a bottle of wine. Much appreciated. Not sure if they were short staffed or of they need a service refresher, but to be as good as their neighbor, L'Auberge, they need to do some work on service. That said, there is much to love about this place, and I would give it another try, and ask for a room closer to the lobby.

Thank you for the review! Yes, I would love to speak with the designer of this building and really find out just what they were thinking in regards to some of the hallways... But in regards to service, that is something we can own. Sounds like we could be a little tighter and more consistent. Regardless of staffing levels, we need to be able to provide those service basics and knock your socks off!

Great! But felt a bit nickeled and dimed

Posted Apr 21, 2017
Beautiful hotel, but for the price of the rooms, I was put off by having to pay extra for wifi. Also, they added a resort fee. I wish hotels would stop doing that and just include the "fee" in the room price!

Thank you for the review! Wifi is always offered complimentary at Kimpton properties to our Karma members... Small extra step, but joining is free and email opt-out is always an option. Thank you again!

Great Location - On the Creek

Posted Apr 16, 2017
Pros: Friendly Staff - Pet Friendly
Cons: Somewhat outdated hallways
Location: Excellent Location - Near Everything to do in Sedona
Extremely Pet Friendly Hotel - We had a great time with our dog with us! Right on the lake with some rooms' balconies opening to the creek. In the hub of Sedona, easy walking to the shops, restaurants, and centers to book activities. Next door to L'Auberge hotel, with a great restaurant, along the creek. Stay at the Amar, pay less, but have similar experience, and go to the L'Auberge restaurant :-)

Pros: Situation and views Valet parking was very swift
Cons: Our room wasn't cleaned by 3.00 pm one day. The swimming pool has a maximum depth of 4 ft (only in the middle) and isn't very functional for adults
Location: Very central. Lots of nearby restaurants
Enjoyed the standard Kimpton comforts, free coffee and newspapers etc

wrong priorities in this price range

Posted Apr 12, 2017
Pros: its location and the grounds.
Cons: see above comments
Location: retail stores galore, eateries galore....need to drive out of town for true tourism.
First impression: car valets extremely pleasant and efficient! Reception staff varies greatly in "professionalism"....some quite "classy"...others rather "Motel 6" style. Room comfortable, appointments not in the $350/night league! Found a rather "tacky" love (sex!) making kit in the nightstand....yet no sugar brought with breakfast in the room...priorities? Morning coffee rather bland, again, no sugar and no option to have the daily paper brought along breakfast. All in all a pleasant stay but definitely not a "value".

Thank you for taking the time to provide some helpful feedback regarding your stay with us. While I am happy to hear that some members of our team really knocked it out of the park, if we aren't consistent with that level of service, then it really doesn't matter! We'll share this with the team and keep working on the details. We hope to be able to show you a flawless experience in the future.
