Great hotel with a fantastic view of Segovia

Posted Sep 14, 2016
Pros: The position overlooking Segovia
Cons: Bathroom had a hint of "drains" which spoils the experience
Location: Segovia well worth spending time to explore. The Alkazar was exceptional
Great experience - great hotel in a prime location in a beautiful city

Great View of Segovia But Don't Stay Here

Posted Oct 6, 2015
Pros: The restaurant food and service were excellent.
Cons: Landscape the outdoor pool area. Keep the pool open at least until the end on September. Train staff to be welcoming and helpful to guests.
Location: The Parador is isolated. Segovia has many interesting sites, especially the Mint and the Alcazar.
Staff make no effort to be helpful. The outdoor pool was closed in late September but the weather was sunny and warm. The indoor pool was closed between 2 and 5 Pm.

Would be a gem, but needs refurbishment badly.

Posted Jun 16, 2015
Pros: Interesting converted building and magnificent views of Segovia.
Cons: The building needs refurbishment and the level of service needs to be improved. For example, a shuttle service to the Aqueduct would be a great help,
Location: Some distance from the city centre.
This hotel could be a gem, but, disappointinly, has not seen refurbishment for some 40-50 years (at a glance). It was built in a magnificent building (looks like some converted industrial building). It sports an impressive entrance hall with a huge rest area and a bar, and all windows and balconies offer majestic panoramic views of Segovia. But when you look closely, you see some old window frames and locks which do not seem to function properly, balconies which are closed for some unexplainable reason. When you walk in a changing room of the pool, you see it in an appalling state. Wi-fi works pretty well and staff are friendly. However, quality of room service is not great.

Thank you Tim for sharing your experience with us. The Parador de Segovia was built in a modern style. There was no previous construction. It opened in 1978 and since it has had two reforms. In addition there have been several redecorating in their facilities and rooms. We can now confirm that is being made reform of the pool changing rooms. Hope to meet you in a near future. Kind regards.

STAY THERE. But it is hard to find. Very.

Posted May 3, 2015
Pros: The building itself, the rooms, view, free parking.
Cons: DIRECTIONS TO THE HOTEL !!!!! There are few road signs leading to The Parador. It was just luck that we found it.
Location: Segovia: Cathedral, Castle, Aqueduct.
With directions it took us nearly an hour to find the hotel by car (it is outside and above Segovia); driving through Segovia is not possible (streets cordoned off), the road signage impossible, and the 'ring road' circling Segovia seeming to go in every direction and no direction at the same time. HOWEVER, once we found The Parador it was worth it. The view of the city below the hotel: fantastic. The rooms, facilities, tavern, parking .... all top drawer. The 2 mile walk down to Segovia CAN be done; but it is NOT an attractive walk (alongside a busy highway). We drove down and up. Parking was very difficult but it was a holiday weekend. In Segovia itself we saw few hotels and almost no cars. This confirmed that our choice of The Parador was indeed the right choice. For those on a budget (we were) the Parador Bar has small dishes for dinner at reasonable prices.

Modern design and great view

Posted Jun 10, 2014
Pros: Great views, restaurant
Cons: It was fine
Location: It is outside of town, so nothing really to do around the actual property. Quick cab ride gets you to beautiful Segovia
Stayed here and liked it very much. It is a modern design, so It differs from the more historic paradores. Great restaurant.

Great views, decent lodging.

Posted Oct 10, 2012
Pros: The views and the easy parking.
Cons: The inability to control our air conditioning.
Location: About 3 km from the aqueduct and city walls. An easy drive to the public parking at the aqueduct.
Beautiful view of Segovia. Nice welcome drink and cookies. Easy free outdoor parking. Wonderful indoor pool. Had trouble with the air conditioning...old fashioned thermostat that worked irregularly and needed replacement. Dinner was fairly priced and decent, but definitely not up to the 4* level of the hotel. The suckling pig was delicious, a pasta not very fresh. The lounge and bar areas were nice, but what is with free wifi only in the common areas? It is the 21st. century.
