Short weekend getaway

Posted Nov 19, 2017
We arrived late our first night. They left a key with directions to our cottage by the front door of the main house. That was nice. Or first impression of the cottage was an okay one. The bed was comfortable, but the hide-a-bed looked terribly used and uncomfortable. Our five- and seven-year old slept on it, but I can’t imagine an adult being comfortable there. When we got up the next morning, we made coffee in the four-cup brewer (not nearly big enough for us). I went to throw away the trash from that small operation to find it overflowing, so I put the trash on the counter. Breakfast arrived at 9:30, which is a bit late, in our opinion, and it was like warm. Breakfast wasn’t terrible; it just wasn’t great. We recommend trudging to the main house for breakfast. It’s not too far away. After we finished breakfast, I went to the main house to check in. It was painless and the staff was super friendly. I informed the innkeeper about our trash can and he said that they’d get it taken care of. We left the property after that and went exploring. We got back late to find a new trash can in the room with the same overflowing trash can where we’d left it. The kids wanted to use the jacuzzi when we got in, so I filled the tub and found that the water heater’s capacity is approximately half that of the jacuzzi’s. For privacy, this is a pretty good place. I don’t recommend it based on the lack of amenity functionality and curious housekeeping practices.

Thomas, I am so sorry to hear about your experience, especially with your housekeeping. We take housekeeping complaints very serious and finding trash in your room upon check-in is unacceptable. We will defiantly be checking on the sofa bed and the water heater issue so that it may not affect any future guest. Thank you for letting us know about these issues. If there is anything we can do for you or if you have any other concerns please contact us to let us know.

Pros: The atmosphere
This was our 2nd stay at the Inn. It is absolutely fabulous!! so close to all attractions, but yet you feel miles away from the hustle and bustle, great place to just find peace. We will be back. The people are wonderful, be prepared to be treated like family.

Peace, quiet, and great hospitality

Hospitality is top notch! Service, the same. All from the Christian family run operation. Group breakfast (different daily) is excellent. Evening desserts delectable. All food prepared fresh daily. Property is large, bucolic and peaceful. "Living with" and getting to know people from all over the country is wonderful in a warm, friendly setting in the inn. Wifi is iffy but tolerable.

Step into a Norman Rockwell painting staying here!

A place that is still close to many attractions, but nestled in the foothills of the smokies which also makes you feel rather secluded. The awesome cooking smells that permeates the place adds to the Norman Rockwell feeling; from family style breakfasts to special evening treats, you just don't want to miss.
