It was the worst experience we have had with renting a property through VRBO.
It’s a beautiful cabin that is not very well cared for or managed. Our experience was tainted from day one when the management company didn’t give us access to the cabin until after 7pm. The previous occupants were not out of the cabin by the time we arrived. Several calls to the management company were made during the day to make sure all was on schedule for us to check in at 4pm. Nothing was said about the previous occupants still being in the cabin until we sat outside the cabin and once again called the management company asking for an update. About that time (4pm) the “inspector” came and shortly after we received a call asking if we had already moved some of our belongings inside. Nope, we didn’t have access to do that. At that point we left to go and entertain ourselves and 13 others until we heard back from the management company and we were able to check in. That was between 7-7:30. We had small children with us and even a baby. It was not a good first impression.
While the cabin is beautiful and we had lots of room there were several things that need repaired, updated, replaced. Some of the door handles don’t work, you can’t open or close some of the correctly. Most of the window blinds are missing the rod to open and close them. Carpets are curling and trip you when you walk across the room. Windows are filthy . It was awesome to have 2 kitchens but they both need some basic kitchen dishes like a cake pan? Serving dishes? The upstairs dishwasher needs the top rack repaired/replaced. Some of the lights don’t work. There is a significant leak in the upstairs master on the left by the patio doors and it has been going on for a while because there is mold growing under the carpet. The mattresses are not comfortable and have seen better times. Tiles in bathrooms etc need to be repaired or replaced. There is still a roach problem and whenI asked about that before we were there I was told because you are in the mountains we should expect that. Nope not when they are craw.I got in and out of a crack in a bathroom countertop. Outside was not clean or swept and cigarette butts littered the front yard area along with the weeds growing there. I’ll stop there because I’m not taking the time to detail every little thing but we won’t book this house again and are seriously thinking we won’t book anything that is handled by a management company again. I do feel sorry for the owners because they have a beautiful cabin but it is not well cared for.
