Good location for the price.

Posted Apr 16, 2016
Pros: Great location for the price.
Cons: No coffee in the room; there is a hot water kettle so some coffee, even if only instant, would have been nice.
Location: Less than a mile walk to Nanjing Road and very close to the subway system, which was very convenient for getting around the city.
I was very happy with the location. Short walk from the South Shaanxi Road subway stop (in the IAPM mall). Several good restaurants in walking distance. The rooms were small but that is to be expected in a big city and for the room price. Bed was a little stiff but since I was alone the room was perfectly adequate.

Not worth

Posted Feb 11, 2016
Pros: The location is in a upscale area , Convenient to every thing .
Cons: Management needs a LOT improvement.
Location: Traditionally upscale area.
Room was too small with no real closet. By door there was a one foot wide space used as "closet" and the small bathroom is awkwardly built very close to your bed. No safe box. Wifi signal poor, hardly functional. Almost no one eat in their restaurant when I walked in for dinner around 7 pm. I asked why ,they replied they are going to move to another place. The hotel has a large property but the management was so behind! For the price it is not worth! I cancelled the rest of the days and rebooked Mason hotel which is only 5 minutes away with the similar price. The hotel is even better than 3 star hotel ,very pleasant to stay.

Hotel in Keeping with Classic Locality

Posted Jun 28, 2015
Pros: Location, size and friendly staff attitude with comfortable living standards.
Cons: Improved number of room services such as crockery (glasses etc).
Location: The French Concession Area is most attractive and has a quality shopping area but is quite close to the main shopping district and sights,
We were welcomed in a friendly manner by both Door and Reception staff and also found this manner through all of our stay. The compact size of the Hotel meant effective use of the elevators and services. The size of the room was quite small but had homely feeling. It is close to major quality shopping area with a number of International restaurants within easy walking distance.

Looking tired and in need of refurbishment

Posted Jun 15, 2015
Pros: Location, swimming pool
Cons: WiFi and safety boxes in rooms.
Location: French concession area, near New Shanghai brewery bar, Jenny's Blue bar and Karma bar. Nearest subway Shanxi Nan Lu, about 5-10 in uses walk.
This hotel is the annex to the main Dong Hu guess house which is undergoing major refurbishment. This annex has always been the lesser of the buildings and is in dire need of refurbishment itself. The rooms are small, rather old fashioned, lacking safety deposit boxes, and, despite having fixed Internet connection, do not have WiFi. Having said that, the hotel location is excellent, located in the old French Connection area, with many western style bars and restaurants nearby. A large swimming pool is a bonus, which rarely had more than 2 or 3 people using it.
